Halston Heritage is Halston’s lower-priced diffusion line. Unfortunately for fashion lovers, it has put out precious few accessories. Its Alice clutch was an instant hit when it came out last year, and this new sparkly version takes the design to the next level.

I don’t love metallic leather, but I do love cracked metallic leather. The weathered purple and bronze finish on this bag is laid back and glamorous at the same time. I have never seen purple and bronze combined in this way, and couldn’t have imagined how warm and exotic it looks.

The softly pleated shape of the Alice is well-suited to showing off the dimensionality of the material. It has a retro-modern look that would be equally at home on the street or the red carpet. This is one of those evening bags that can go from rocker chic to refined elegance with no fuss. Grab it with jeans or an evening gown and either way, you’re good.

I can’t believe this bag is only $245! This is a fabulous deal on a fabulously designed bag.

Big Buddha has been generating some serious buzz for its Kaitlyn shoulder bag. The edgy chain-accented purse has featured in Style, Lucky, and O magazines in recent months.

While it’s very popular, I’m still not convinced by its looks. The slouchy silhouette seems at odds with the hard metal that winds its way through the bag’s seams. It’s an innovative look to be sure, which may be why I’m having such a hard time with it. No new trend is without risks after all, and while it’s a bit confronting at first I’ll bet many designers will replicate the look next season!

What impresses me most is that there’s some real substance underneath those punk rock looks. There’s so much space inside, but enough pockets that it never feels too unmanageable. If you’re still left wanting for storage there’s also a zip pocket on the back, which will get a little extra security when it’s pressed against your body.

I’m not sure I’d take a risk on this purse, but at $90 it might be worth the gamble for a more daring fashionista.

I’m not sure it’s the beauty that its name suggests, but there is something very appealing about this slate gray Bella hobo from Ellington.

The Bella’s beauty is more Cate Blanchett than Beyonce. There’s a subtlety to it; the glazed leather gives it a hint of gloss, but there are no frills or bows to make us drool. It’s not overly feminine, but there’s a refined charm about its chocolatey leather trim and polished hardware.

It’s called a hobo, but the Bella has more structure than most bags of this ilk. That’s a positive in my books, as it won’t fold in on itself when you’re trying to access your precious cargo. There’s plenty of room for that load too, with two slip pockets, a zippered pocket, and a key clip complementing the slip pocket up front.

The regular handles are too short for my tastes, so I’m thrilled that Ellington has included a longer strap. This is fully adjustable, so you can use the Bella as a shoulder bag or cross-body depending on your mood.

At $189, this hobo is well priced for such an elegant everyday purse.

When I saw Isabel Toledo’s first collection for Payless Shoe Source, I felt a little flat. The shoes were fierce, but the handbags seemed like more of an afterthought. Thankfully the new bags released for Payless’ Holiday Collection sound a little more promising.

The range features two new Isabel Toledo bags: a daytime tote and an evening clutch. The tote, known as the Matador, has a bold black and red color scheme. The Moon clutch is made from black satin and will no doubt have a distinctive half-moon shape.

The bags were designed to complement Isabel Toledo’s new Holiday shoe collection, which features flats adorned with pom poms and metallic d’orsey pumps.

There should be room in everyone’s holiday budget for these accessories, which will be priced under $35. Look for them on Payless shelves by the end of the month. Will you check them out?

Whiting & Davis goes disco with this slouchy hobo. Are you a fan?

Whether you love it or loathe it, there’s certainly no ignoring the Fan hobo. The designers cleverly pair metallic mesh around the top with shiny Italian lambskin around the base. The luxury skin is embossed with a delicate fan design, which helps to explain its unusual name. This black bag is far from basic with its discolicious cherry red undertones, but it’s also available in a green-gold shade and pewter.

Such a slouchy bag isn’t really very user friendly, but at least we have enough space inside for stashing everything we need. The pockets are trimmed with more of that luxury leather to ensure they stack up to everyday punishment.

I can imagine this Fan hobo looking great with a fun and flirty evening ensemble or a favorite pair of jeans and a girly T-shirt. That day to night appeal makes the $315 price tag seem very reasonable.

I’ve heard about oversized handbags before, but the 12-foot Kelly bag currently on display in Dublin is ridiculous!

The enormous Hermes bag, dubbed the Kellydoscope, was made exclusively from the label’s leather and toile fabric. It’s so big that customers can actually step inside to watch one of three short movies about the Kelly’s history.

The massive It bag is currently on show at the ground floor of Dublin’s Brown Thomas mall to celebrate the opening of The Marvel Room, a store featuring luxury goods from brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Louise Vuitton, and of course, Hermes.

The Marvel Room is the place to be for Hermes fans, as Hermes craftsmen will show customers how they make the Kelly in store until Saturday November 6. It’s also exclusively selling the Kelly So Black bag, which features black hardware instead of the regular polished metal.

The Kellydoscope will be on show until November 14, when it will travel to other retail centers around Europe.

Hermes Kelly Bags on eBay

Clutch purses are de rigueur for posh evenings out, but every now and again you just want to break the rules. And when you do, this Annie wristlet from Bourne is an excellent choice.

It doesn’t so much break the rules as bend them I think. After all, its body resembles a typical box clutch. Its satin body is gathered for interest, but there’s no mistaking that structure and clean lines. By rooting the design in tradition, Bourne’s allowed to take some risks with the wrist strap.

This jeweled covered handle will be too glitzy for girls with conservative tastes, but I don’t mind it at all. Personally I think that a designer that makes an effort with its wrist strap, rather than just delivering a plain loop or chain, should be applauded. All those jewels would be too much before five, or even with an over-embellished ensemble. But if you’re rocking basic black or another neutral it could give your evening dress the lift it needs.

At $174.95, this is a fairly expensive purse from Bourne. But look at it this way; with that gem encrusted handle dangling from your wrist you won’t need to buy a bracelet!

The MICHAEL line by Michael Kors makes affordably-priced interpretations of the Kors collection. I often prefer the MICHAEL line to the Kors range precisely because it is more affordable, and I don’t think many of the Kors bags are interesting enough to warrant their high price tags. I’m not sure about this glazed embossed python bag, however. It’s kind of chic, but parts of the design are somewhat awkward.

The python embossed leather is not one of the awkward parts of the bag. I am no big fan of faux snakeskin, but Michael Kors really seems to have a way with it. The pattern is complex and nuanced enough to appear natural, and the glaze gives it a perfect, medium-glossed sheen.

It isn’t really the shape that concerns me, either. It’s a little bland and slouchy, but it’s not bad. It’s not particularly intriguing, but with this fabulous material, it doesn’t need to be. It’s the straps that are really bothering me. There’s something cheap looking about the chain link that is only further emphasized by the python covered links.

At $470, this is a very reasonably priced bag, especially for such an exotic look. If you can handle the somewhat cheesy looking straps, then it might be a decent investment.

Jimmy Choo’s sophisticated urban styles have seduced a generation of women to upgrade their wardrobes. Unfortunately, some of his most recent designs have been a little lackluster. Luckily, this fabulous Tube Glitter clutch is more like the designs that made him famous in the first place.

The gold glitter twill material covering this hard-cased clutch has a subtle, refined glamour. On a bag like this, it’s the size of the sparkle that makes all the difference. On the Tube, the sparkles are small and dainty, glittery enough to catch your eye, but not overpowering.

I love the simple shape of the Tube. It is, quite literally, a tube shape, with no exterior embellishment save the slim top clasp. This would add an extraordinary bit of flash to your favorite LBD, or a touch of glam to jeans and stilettos.

At $1,150, this is the kind of investment you can only make for a very special occasion, but it’s one you won’t regret.

Alexis Hudson understands what makes an evening bag sing. She has done it before, namely with the Champagne and Tango clutches, and now she has really raised the bar with the spangly Ciara clutch.

Whilst sequins can look overdone, this evening purse avoids the issue through using tiny and really classy ones. Layered up over and over in that one shade of russet copper, they form a single wall of shimmering color, and consequently look great! Whilst sequins do run the risk of falling off or getting tangled up, the leather trim should keep them more in line than many other similar purses on the market.

Aside from the sequins, the shape makes me love this bag. The envelope clutch design is a classic, and with good reason; it gives you plenty of room at the same time as looking really smart. It also works well with the padlock clasp, so teeny and so cute!

At $195 this Ciara purse isn’t cheap, but I have certainly seen pricier options. For a stunning sparkling purse with a lot of attitude, I don’t think this is at all bad!
