The flirty ruffled trim is what gives the Marie its fun, feminine feel. It adds a sense of drama to the bag, but thankfully it never appears too over the top. I think the color palette helps us here; rather than choosing traditionally girly shades like hot pink and bright teal, Big Buddha has opted for more sedate tones. These classic hues like black, brown, and gray help to temper the frills and make the bag much more versatile.

I can imagine the Marie making your everyday outfits look that much more glamorous, so I’m glad to see Big Buddha has given it a practical design. There’s plenty of space for everything you could want to carry through the week or on weekends, and the long dual straps are perfect when you want to grab and go.

Let’s face it; unless you’re one of those girls who adores Barbie, Elle Woods, and above all the color pink you’re not going to warm to this purse. That shade of pink is positively lurid, shockingly saccharine, and impossible to ignore. The pink signature print perhaps only adds insult to injury, like spooning too much sugar into a cup of cinnamon chai.

But if you like that kind of thing, I think you could easily find a place for the Storypatch Groovy in your wardrobe. While the vivid pink shade is garish, the simple styling helps Coach get away with it. Bows or frills would have seemed like overkill; now we’ve just got to stomach that pink.

And if we can, the design is actually quite practical. Coach doesn’t really go above and beyond the call of duty here, but there’s enough space for everyday use, as many pockets as we could reasonably ask for, and a choice of long or short straps.

If you can’t get past that pink, don’t sweat it. The Storypatch Groovy also comes in a more subtle gold shade. I think this hue is so gentle that it appears bland, but some fashion fans may argue that it’s the lesser of two evils!

Are we all salivating at the thought of the Lanvin for H&M collaboration, patiently counting down the days until November 20? Well, you might be unless you’re a celebrity.

While we’ll need to wait in queues to get our hands on the affordable designer goodies, stars around the world are already enjoying their favorite pieces.

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester was spotted wearing the leopard print pumps at a Vogue event last week, while Korean actress Ha Ji Won was dressed entirely in Lanvin for H&M at the recent Asiana International Short Film Festival. Brits Hayley Atwell, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Roisin Murphy have all been snapped wearing their Lanvin for H&M goodies too.

We can expect to see Madonna and J-Lo joining them very soon. While early reports said these big-name American stars would need to wait until the November 18 runway show, that doesn’t seem to be the case. A spokesperson from H&M has confirmed that scheduling difficulties have caused a delay, but they’ll definitely receive their favorite Lanvin for H&M pieces soon.

And I bet they’ll get them before November 20 too! Are you jealous?

If you thought metallics were strictly for after five, think again. Etienne Aigner shows us it’s possible to add a little glitz to your everyday, and look classy at the same time, with this enviable Ella hobo.

This pewter has the unmistakable sheen of a metallic, but it’s not as brassy as a gold or silver might have been. It’s such an elegant choice, and enough to make me overlook the other possibilities of black, honey, and teal blue. In these more reserved shades the fairly traditional handbag design might seem a bit boring, but I think the pewter tone does enough to dress things up.

You’ve no doubt noticed the zippered pockets which help to decorate the front of the bag, but the good news is there’s more where they came from. You’ll find another zippered pocket in the back, and another small one and a cell phone pouch inside. It’s also worth noting the pretty striped lining; it doesn’t really add anything to the hobo on a practical level but it’s so irresistibly cute!

For $148, this hobo is probably too conservative to turn heads but it’ll do the job with sophisticated style for years to come.

Miu Miu has opened the doors of a brand new boutique in Frankfurt, its third German store.

You’ll find it on the exclusive Goesthestrasse shopping strip alongside iconic brands like Rolex, Longchamp, Chanel, Armani, and the label’s sister brand Prada. Where else?

Like other Miu Miu boutiques, architect Roberto Bachiocchi has placed his distinctive stamp on the store. It’s clad in opulent brown marble accented with gold damask upholstery and a bold brass Miu Miu logo.

Inside you’ll find Miu Miu’s famous handbags, footwear, and small leather goods. But as with any store opening, the biggest draw card will be a special limited edition bag available exclusively at the Frankfurt store. German shoppers can indulge in a rare brown version of the label’s popular Paloma satchel.

The Frankfurt store seems well placed to succeed considering its enviable location, despite the line’s latest batch of lackluster accessories. Hopefully it can create something worthy of those opulent surrounds soon!

Miu Miu Bags on eBay

Winter weather is no reason to forget about surf brand Roxy. The label ensures it’s desirable all year round with cute handbags like this Flutter hobo.

It’s taken Roxy some time to find its feet as a stylish accessories label, but I’m glad it has. This hobo gets the balance right, with a clean design and edgy chain accents. On a more detailed bag those chains could look messy, but when paired with such a simple style they really shine.

The delicate chains take center stage, but there are a few more details which I love. The synthetic body may not have the luxury appeal of leather, but its relaxed crinkle texture is gorgeous. I also like the contrast of the exposed black backing of the zippered pocket, which really pops against the orange or white synthetic.

Not that the Flutter’s appeal is strictly surface. The interior is large but well appointed with a zippered pocket and two open ones for taking care of gadgets. The fabric lining feels a bit cheap, but at least in black any stains won’t show.

This Roxy hobo is both cheerful and cheap at $40.

I am so excited about the bags that the Marc by Marc Jacobs line is putting out right now. They’re chic and versatile and totally affordable. This new Lucy tote exemplifies these qualities.

The off-white ostrich-embossed PVC has a fabulously low-key appeal. It’s exotic without being loud or pretentious, and unlike an authentic exotic skinned-bag, you don’t have to worry about getting it dirty. The durable PVC will just wipe clean, no problem.

The shape of this tote is also fabulous. It has a classic appeal, but with some modern touches. My favorite thing about this bag is the interior. The fully zippered top opens onto a divided main compartment, perfect for keeping all your things organized. My least favorite thing about the Lucy is the faux turnlock clasp. Marc by Marc Jacobs has been including these on a lot of bags, lately, and I just don’t get it.

The price, at $395, is fantastic. The Lucy has the good looks of an expensive investment bag at a much lower price point.

Miu Miu’s bags have become sort of a joke to me. For the most part, they’re so overdesigned and overpriced that I just can’t get behind the label, anymore. This plaid flannel bag, however, makes me see things a little differently.

The washed out plaid design on the flannel has a muted color scheme that gives the bag an instantly worn-in appeal. I’m a really big fan of plaid flannel, and I haven’t seen this red and purple color scheme before. The pattern combined with the medium brown leather trim gives the bag a very preppy, outdoorsy sort of vibe, but I think with the right outfit, it could go grunge, too.

The slouchy style is given a bit of structure by all the strap accents. I love the boxy look combined with the fold over flap top. This is the kind of bag that will give all your casual outfits heritage-inspired charm. Except that at $1,350, it’s a little pricier than your average lumberjack inspired fashion statement. Still, as far as Miu Miu is concerned, I think this is a step in the right direction.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line is known for bringing the trends down to reasonable price point. This eye-catching ostrich print PVC clutch does exactly that.

Ostrich is one of those coveted materials that adds instant opulence to any design. Here, rendered in synthetic PVC, it has the same effect. The luxurious texture combined with the astro-bright color makes this a clutch that will surely grab attention.

The streamlined and simple design is buffeted with reinforced corners and inset seam details. Marc Jacobs has made a very wise choice leaving the surface of this bag un-embellished, as the color alone is a lot to take in. The only decoration is the simple turnlock fastening at front, which is, unfortunately, not functional.

The clutch has a full zipper top closure, so I’m not really sure why it needs a faux clasp, but for $170, I’m not going to bicker over this minor detail.
