Kipling has signed on as exclusive accessories sponsor of the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships, which is great news for the competitors!

Every skater will receive a complimentary one-of-a-kind USA Kipling duffel. Fans attending the event, to be held at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina from January 22 to 30, won’t miss out on the fun entirely.

While skating enthusiasts won’t receive free bags like their idols, they can visit the coliseum’s Kipling “Fan Fest” booth. They could spin up a prize on the Electric After Dark wheel, and get their photo taken with the Kipling monkey mascot. All photos will later be uploaded to Kipling’s Facebook page. Yes, I’d rather get a free Kipling bag too!

The US Figure Skating Championships crowns the country’s national champs for the ladies, mens, pairs, and ice dancing competitions. The event attracts skating fans from all over the world, which can only be a good thing for the Kipling brand!

Jimmy Choo brings a little Western flair to the urban jungle with this Isola Hobo.

The Isola reminds me a bit of Cousin It’s relative from down South, with its long cascading fringe and star shaped studs. This hobo projects a very distinctive look to be sure, and that’s sure to scare many people off. I think the Isola could look wonderful with the right outfit, and hideous with the wrong. Mmm, metal mesh and ruffled leather. It’s a combination that makes even the toughest bag look positively weedy, at the same time as making pretty purses look kind of dull.

OK, so the mix may also be rather over the top, and it certainly won’t work for day wear. At the same time, many people will find the dominatrix combination of metal and leather a little too subversive and sexy. However, I think that that stunning soft leather works beautifully with the shiny black body, and I don’t think I am alone in having that opinion.

It seems Matthew isn’t the only talent in the McConaughey household. The actor’s model partner Camila Alves recently held a trunk show to introduce her Muxo handbag line.

Don’t mistake this collection as the work of yet another celebrity turned designer, or worse yet, the pet project of a bored housewife. Alves began work on the line some five years ago with her mother, a former fashion and interior designer.

The leather bags embody the family’s Brazilian heritage, with their fringe details and flower appliqués. The look has been described as “Gossip Girl meets Pocahontas,” and after looking at a few of the purses I’d say that’s pretty spot on.

While traveling the world for modeling gigs Alves longed for a unique bag that survived her busy lifestyle.

“Every handbag I had would break or fall apart,” she said. “The ones that did stay together, the label handbags, everybody else would have it.“

From humble beginnings in her garage, the line has grown to feature more than 60 purses, including totes, shoulder bags, satchels, and clutches.

“We still touch every single bag,” she said. “We do the distressing. We don’t teach that to anybody, and you can’t machine copy it.“

The Muxo bags are priced from $212 for small shoulder purses to $1800 for the stunning Queen of the Sea handbag pictured. They’re available online through the Muxo website.

Nicole Richie is easy to envy, with her doting husband, pair of cherubic children, and flourishing fashion career. And now that she’s released details of her personal handbag collection, I’m even more jealous!

Richie’s closet features some 30 Chanel handbags, although the cheeky former reality TV star says that she stole many of them from her mother! “I’ve always experimented,” she admitted. “I dyed my hair purple, and I dyed my hair green, and I went through a Punky Brewster phase, a preppy phase, a goth phase, a girly phase, a grunge phase. I’m sure my style won’t stop here.“
