Jimmy Choo is hot on the tail of the warmer weather. It’s bringing out those spring and summer styles quicker than you can say “warm front”, and you know what? I think it’s actually make me feel a little warmer. This Rosabel tote isn’t only for the fairer months, but it sure is red hot.

It must be the color that’s making me feel so passionate, because I usually don’t gush this much. It’s a dark, vintage-y red that I just can’t get enough of. The smooth texture adds to the lipstick-y glamor of the shade, and the gold hardware is both classic and classy.

The shape of the Rosabel is pretty fabulous as well. It’s ever so slightly triangular, which gives the bag a really unique look. It’s not just that though; it’s that there’s also the great flap front closure with the geometric clasp. The strap details add a touch of tough to this mostly minimal design. Overall, the whole look comes together in a perfectly modern way that is simple and versatile.

At $1,750, the Rosabel is a little pricey, but it’s such a great look that will work for a lot of different women and a lot of different looks.

See by Chloe is having a really  impressive season. The line is hip, youthful, feminine, and a little edgy. This Yate bowling bag is one of the coolest and most affordable bags I’ve seen all season.

The black leather on the Yate is subtle, but interesting. It has a softly pebbled texture, and the white over-stitching adds extra dimension and contrast to the material. The zig-zag pattern is a little more abstract than your average striped bowler and looks a lot more sophisticated.

The shape of the Yate is not quite traditional. It’s rounder than usual, and has gold-tipped bow embellishments on the sides. Honestly, I could really do without the bows, as they look a little floppy and sloppy. But, I’m a minimalist at heart, and a more maximal girl is probably going to love it. Especially when she sees the remarkably low $595 price tag.

Some bags aren’t wild, or original, or even that exciting. Instead, they are simple plain bags for people who need normal, functional everyday carrying.

The Alden by Brahmin is one such bag. However, please don’t think of this as a negative; as beautiful as some fashion handbags can be, everyone needs a practical purse to last them for years and years, free of trends and the sudden whims of the catwalks. A simple black tote can be just that, especially if it is in a gorgeous leather and classic shape.

This leather tote does try to “jazz” itself up a little. The brass hardware and croc print trim are the main nods to fashion, although it is fair to admit that they aren’t the most exciting touches ever. Still, at least it tries.

Inside, positively, practicality is the main concern, with plenty of pockets and spaces for the most organized of people. The Alden is a true sensible girl’s handbag!

With the dawn of the tablet computer (computer? phone? notepad?), the world of laptops and technology carry cases has been kind of thrown up in the air. The handbag world needed to invent a perfectly Apple-sized container for a potentially massive market, and it took them a surprisingly long time to get around to the task. Finally, however, there are a good few options on the market.

Whilst many designs are corporate and boring, the Hello Kitty option is anything but. It appeals to your inner geek and lover of technology (and consequently, to all iPad owners by default), whilst at the same time being cheeky and fun. If you hate Hello Kitty the design will put you off (and it does make it pretty girl-centric), but otherwise you may find this Loungefly case charmingly kitsch.

Considering it costs $49.95, this isn’t the cheapest techie accessory on the market, especially as it is PVC. Is the design enough to make up for that?

Nine West shakes up the popular messenger style with this Innovation bag.

This messenger has an appealing rounded off shape, which is much more feminine than most bags of this ilk. This unusual silhouette helps to temper the messenger’s typically utilitarian appearance, making it appear less masculine and much more fun.

In leather this bag would have had a really sexy slouch, but this synthetic material gives it much more structure. I suppose it’s nice to have a bag hold its shape, but this manmade fabric is a bit stiff. Using this cheaper material helps Nine West keep the price down to an affordable $98, so I can’t fault the label for its decision. I only hope a high end designer adopts this striking shape, as I’d love to see it made with a more luxurious skin.

For now though we take what we can get, which is a very practical purse. The generous dimensions and neutral color palette would lend themselves to long days at the office as easily as weekends with the girls.

This Nine West bag lives up to its name, as it brings something fresh and new to the messenger style.

Hermes has sued Thursday Friday for using the image of the iconic Birkin bag on its cheeky canvas New Together Bag.

We smelled this lawsuit coming a mile away, but it’s still a bit sad to see Hermes chasing after such a small-time operator.

“Hermes created, manufactures and sells the iconic “Birkin” handbag. Through enormous sales, publicity and media attention, the appearance of the Birkin Bag has become immediately recognizable to millions of women. Defendant is selling cotton tote bags which bear on each of their surfaces, a color photograph of the corresponding surfaces of what appears to be a Birkin Bag. Defendant is simply riding on the reputation and recognition of the Birkin Bag to sell its otherwise generic tote bags. In so doing, Defendant is creating confusion among the public and is putting Plaintiff’s reputation at risk,” the lawsuit states.

Certainly there’s a case for intellectual copyright here, but I find the idea that Thursday Friday’s little tote might create “confusion among the public” laughable. Would anyone really mistake these $35 totes for the four or five-figure It bags printed on them? No, I didn’t think so.

Hermes Birkin Bags on eBay

Evening bags tend to be sleek, chic affairs, so it’s refreshing to see Nina Ricci dirty things up with this Tiered purse.

This clutch may be a bit rough around the edges, but I think that only adds to its charms. The exposed ruffles take some of the heat away from the hot pink leather, making it appear less sickly sweet and more rebellious. Can’t you just imagine Katy Perry walking down the red carpet with Russell Brand on one arm and this purse on the other?

This evening bag is on the small side, but Nina Ricci attempts to cram as much as she can inside. The main compartment has a small organizational pocket, and there’s a zippered pocket hidden underneath the flap. If you over-stuff this hidden compartment it’ll bulge, but it’s a great place for stashing receipts and phone numbers away from prying eyes.

The pretty bow embellished chain gives us a hands-free carrying option, but it’s also detachable if you prefer to clutch a purse the old fashioned way. I’m not sure which look I like better, so it’s nice to have a couple of alternatives.

At $1850 Nina Ricci has pushed the price of this purse sky high, but it would make a fun statement piece for the lucky girls who can afford it!

Simon Nessman and Karmen Pedaru steam up the latest advertising campaign for Michael Kors.

The ads show the model pair looking very chummy indeed as they ride across California on a shared scooter and lounge about under that West Coast sun. Bright whites dominate the apparel collection, while the accessories feature the camel leather we’ve seen so much of lately.

I’m hardly complaining though. Bags like the exotic snake-printed satchel Pedaru is wearing are modern and luxe looking. The accessories are a bit too large to be truly on trend, but that should appeal to folks struggling to fit everything they need inside the latest purse crop.

Acclaimed Peruvian photographer Mario Testino shot the spring/summer 2011 ads, and I must say I’m impressed. You can almost feel the humidity when you look at these commercials; they really do scream summer.

I’ve seen many chain clutches in my time, but none quite like this Margot clutch from Nicole Miller!

Rather than using chains for a shoulder strap, Nicole Miller decorates with the metal. I’m not sure I completely embrace the design, as it seems a bit messy, but it’s certainly original. Tulle is a great foil for the chains as it helps to soften the heavy duty design.

I really don’t expect anything beyond the surface when it comes to clutches, so when a designer delivers a few practical perks I’m always surprised. Two zippered pockets are hidden away underneath the flap, so this purse is very easy to organize. We still don’t have a lot of space, but at least the space we do have is usable.

Given all the chains all over the Margot, I was surprised to see Nicole Miller shun a chain strap with a leather wrist loop. It’s a smart choice though, as any more metal could have easily seemed like overkill. This gives us another carrying option without detracting too much from the design.

At $290 I think the Margot is a little over priced but if you’ve fallen for it, its original styling makes it worth a splurge.
