We’ve seen so many high end designers creating woven leather, and now Vanessa Bruno has thrown her hat into the ring with this Tressje Sac.

Unfortunately for Vanessa Bruno, we’re always going to compare her work to woven leather masters like Bottega Veneta. And while this bag shows ingenuity, it sadly comes off looking second best. The weave is interesting, but also overcomplicated. The geometric pattern seems too busy, and it’s so overworked that we can barely appreciate the leather’s quality. The belted top only further muddies the design for me.

It’s a shame the looks let it down, because the Tresse Sac is a smartly designed bag. I barely noticed the front and back pockets hidden amongst all those woven leather. There are more when we look inside: a large zippered one and a pair of smaller pouches for handling personal technology. The straps are a shade too short for really comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying, but you could probably manage it.

I’m sure there are girls out there who will appreciate Vanessa Bruno’s bold approach to woven leather, especially at $978. That’s not exactly small change, but it’s a fraction of the price Bottega Veneta would charge for a similar bag. I still think I’ll save my pennies for the high end designer though.

Treesje will celebrate the golden age of pop art with a small new limited edition handbag collection. The range will consist of just two bags: the Warhol and the Sedgwick.

The Warhol, named after pop art pioneer Andy Warhol, is the most relaxed of the two bags, and the most expensive at $568. Its everyday good looks and generous size help to justify the extra expense though. Its slouchy white leather flap design is accented with contrasting black leather buckles and golden hardware.

The Sedgwick, named after Warhol’s greatest muse Edie Sedgwick, is more ladylike and refined. It’s smaller and more structured, although it’s made of the same stone-colored leather and with black trim. This cross-body style purse will set you back $365.

The Warhol and Sedgwick are scheduled to hit shelves on February 22, the 24th anniversary of Andy Warhol’s death. Do you think the late art genius would approve of the Treesje bags he inspired?

Valentino looks to get you in the mood for spring with this pretty Fany tote. But does the fashion house do enough to make you crave warmer weather?

To be honest, I’m in two minds about this tote. I love the flower accents, which are cleverly created with woven leather strips. What an inspired way to create a springtime look! The delicate scalloped edges are also a gorgeous way to add whimsy.

But while I love elements of the Fany, its overall design disappoints me. The arrangement of those flowers is unimaginative, and the shape is really bland. Those pleated sides were intended to add volume, but sadly they only make the Fany seem lumpy and frumpy.

This is a relatively large tote, which would lend itself as easily to traveling as a dinner with friends. The dual handles are long enough to suit over-the-shoulder carrying, but even that won’t be comfortable if you’re pushing the Fany to its limits. Thankfully Valentino has also added a longer strap for cross-body wear.

This off-white shade is ideal for the coming warmer weather, but don’t be surprised if it looks grimy before too long. Considering its substantial $1795 price tag, the brown cuoio option may be the best investment.

Miu Miu is a line that I loved in my early twenties. Now that I’m in my (almost) mid-thirties, I find its aesthetic somewhat immature and overdone. I don’t know if it’s the line that’s changed or me. Either way, I find the design of this polka dot canvas clutch irritatingly naive.

The bubblegum pink canvas is kind of a bizarre choice. Outside of the girliest of the girly girls and second graders, most women don’t wear bubblegum pink. Add to the pink these teal and white polka dots and what you have is an extremely saccharine color combination.

The design of the bag is also quite sugary. The shape itself isn’t that interesting or unique, but the giant bow embellishment on the flap front cover makes it look a little cartoonish. Okay, maybe a little more than just a little cartoonish. Actually, it looks like something Minnie Mouse might carry on a date with Mickey. Unfortunately, I don’t know what else this bag might be good for.

Satchels don’t usually do glamor, but the BCrystal satchel is set to change all that!

It may not be genuine leather, but there is no guessing just how expensive this purse could be were it in genuine calfskin covered in Swarovski gems! Instead, the king of cheap, Steve Madden, has substituted the leather for a simple black canvas, and the Swarovski for a ridiculously over-the-top scattering of glittery gems. It may not be as fancy, but this is what allows us to buy this exotic purse for just $70!

Of course for the people who care what other people think, Madden has equipped the BCrystal with synthetic leather side panels and handles. You know, so it at least looks like leather!

There aren’t as many pockets in this bag as you would perhaps expect, as satchels generally have them inside and out. Still, you have plenty of space, and a zipped pocket too, and for the budget end of the market that isn’t too bad.

DKNY has been a major disappointment to me this season. Its aesthetic has been bland and uninspired, and its prices haven’t been as affordable as I would like to see. Unfortunately, this croc effect leather bag is more of the same.

I really don’t like DKNY’s croc-embossing. It’s not realistic enough to look real, and not interesting enough to look unique. It just looks, well, fake. Despite this bag’s $195 price tag, everything about it screams “designer knockoff” and I feel like I could find a way better deal on a similar style at any bargain department store. The hot red color is eye-catching, but that’s about the only interesting thing going on here.

The shape is traditional and also, I’m afraid, bland. On the plus side, it’s nicely sized for easy carrying. I don’t think it’s a particularly flattering shape or material (too stiff) to be worn across the body, but at least the strap is adjustable, so you can wear it over your shoulder if you prefer. DKNY’s giant stylized clasps are just killing me. They are so cheesy looking that they take what is a pretty inoffensive style and make it look just terrifyingly cheap.

Overall, the price is good on this bag, and the color is cool, but that’s about all it’s got going for it.

Wow! Talk about eye-catching! This La Regale clutch is a dazzling array of bling and bright vibrant color, perfect for girls who like to make an impact.

Whilst the spider web pattern of glittering crystals adorning the outside of this expensive clutch makes it seem kind of Gothic, the actual materials are anything but. The gorgeous red satin and rows of gems are more traditional than you would have expected (and are of course at risk of damage), although I venture that this clutch may still be a little too much for a really stiff formal event.

If rebelling against the normal expectations of “black tie” is your cup of tea, then I have no doubt this jeweled bag will do the trick. Even better, underneath the bling lies a sweet and simple box clutch, with a surprising amount of room. There is nothing better than being able to make a statement without sacrificing practicality!

There is no denying that the high contrast between the blood red and blinding silver may divide people into two camps: “love” and “hate.” Which side of the fence will you fall on?

Coach is hoping to make a big impression on Britons with the opening of its first UK store in London’s Westfield shopping center next Friday.

The 3000-square foot space will feature all of the accessories the American brand is famous for, along with a few exclusive designs. The store will join London Westfield’s impressive array of designer stores, which already includes Burberry, Calvin Klein, Prada and Louis Vuitton.

The London space won’t be the only Coach outlet in the United Kingdom for long. The label will open another store in New Bond Street later this summer. These stores are part of Coach’s roll-out into the United Kingdom, which will see 15 outlets open in the region over the next three to five years. It’s expected the move into the UK will net the company $250 million, or £155.5 million, over the next five years.
