If you like to travel in luxury, then this leather duffel bag from Kenneth Cole was designed with you in mind.

Unlike all the wildly patterned fabric duffel bags that seem to have flooded the market in recent years, the Roma bag goes down a more traditional route. Instead of bright fabrics she is clad in a gently crinkled brown leather. Not only is this better for people who have to travel a lot with work (that slogan covered purse just ruins the effect of your suit!), but the durability of leather makes this more likely to last through the trials and tribulations of your travelling, making it something of an investment piece.

The New York collection always uses nice leather, but I have to say that the Roma seems a little more conservative than the rest. It may still be luxurious and reasonably priced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if die-hard Kenneth Cole fans steered clear, opting for something a little more fashion-focused or brightly colored.

With plenty of pockets and still enough space for all of your weekend belongings, the Roma is a weekend bag for the business man or woman.

I hope you’ve got a sweet tooth. The only way this Black Magic bow satchel from Nine West could get any girlier is to make it pink!

This bag looks like it’s stepped out of a Disney cartoon. Its layered bow is so well defined, and its tiny colored studs look like a sprinkling of pixie dust! I’m sure it’s too sugary for many serious fashion fans, but I’ve got a soft spot for this frothy concoction!

Given its name you’d expect to find the Black Magic in black, but I think I prefer this pewter alternative. It’s not as glitzy as many metallics, but it does look a bit more dressed up. Such a playful purse wouldn’t be appropriate for most offices anyway, so I’d prefer the shade which looks like it’s ready to hit the town.

The Black Magic is smaller than many satchels, but I think that works in its favor. Without an optional cross-body strap, we only want a bag that can fit what we can comfortably carry on our shoulder. Everything we really need will fit nicely, and you should still have room for a few extra items as well!

Our $99 doesn’t buy us real leather, but it does buy a very flirty and fun purse. Have its girlish charms won you over?

Chocolate gives us a woven bag unlike any I’ve ever seen with this Ruth hobo.

The woven finish of this bag is so interesting, with synthetic strips interlaced with soft material and fuzzy fabric. This bone color really makes the most of the texture, while the darker brown and black bags are much subtler. Personally I feel like a unique finish like this deserves to be celebrated, so the bone’s my pick. Can’t you just imagine how it’d look paired with boots and a flowing boho dress?

While Chocolate has taken some risks with the exterior, inside the Ruth is a fairly traditional bag. The plainweave lining is durable, and its pockets help make the enormous space feel more manageable. The slouchy silhouette isn’t the most user-friendly, but when it looks this cool it’s hard for me to get too critical.

I’m a bit disappointed that Chocolate has chosen synthetic, rather than one of the materials, for the straps though. It won’t feel as comfortable on your shoulder, and its shiny finish seems a bit cheap. We get away with it in the weave, but in such a large dose it’s a different matter.

All too often we must pay a fortune for a trend-setting bag, but happily the Ruth costs just $99. At that price, everyone can afford to turn a few heads!

Keep your eyes peeled if you’re wandering the streets on Saturday, March 5. Yves Saint Laurent employees will be handing out this year’s Manifesto in free tote bags!

Two thousand lucky pedestrians in the world’s fashion capitals Paris, New York, Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, Milan, and Los Angeles, will receive the limited edition bags. Each one bears the image of model Arizona Muse on one side, as captured by fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, and the iconic YSL logo on the other.

And of course there’s the eighth edition of the Manifesto itself tucked away inside, with the Arizona Muse ad campaign and an interview with designer and Manifesto mastermind Stefano Pilati.

“I offer another perspective of a luxury brand to a broad demographic that doesn’t necessarily relate to fashion in the way that a more privileged layer of people do. I want to create a wider influence for the message that is being sent from the catwalk, by taking imagery of the collection and giving it to people on environmentally friendly paper in the street without targeting a specific demographic,” explained Pilati of his vision for the Manifesto.

Fossil seems to have taken inspiration from the world of Hollywood when it created the Hathaway shopper. But just like the decision to hand Anne Hathaway the Oscars’ co-hosting job, this is one shopper that appeared better on paper.

I assume that Fossil decided to treat its leather with glaze to add a little Hollywood shine. It’s a smart idea, but the execution lets it down. That shine sadly makes the leather appear like a cheap synthetic, and it deserves better.

So does the design frankly, because in a different material I think I could really get behind it. I love the oversized grommets that the handles thread through, and the way the side pockets make the shape seem more modern. This marine blue shade is also dreamy, and I don’t mind the other color options either.

The design is also smart. The Hathaway’s dimensions are generous, but as its slender it doesn’t look enormous. Its plainweave lining seems ready to take on anything, and the its interior pocket are a great complement to those outside.

Perhaps for the affordable $98 you won’t mind that this shopper looks cheaper than its materials should. Sadly though all I see is wasted potential.

Alice Temperley, designer and founder of Temperley London, has received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to the United Kingdom’s fashion industry.

The always fashionable Temperley wore a masculine looking black and white suit, topped off with a fedora, to today’s ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth II presented the designer with the prestigious medal.

Temperley joins some of Britian’s best handbag designers; Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, Luella Bartley, and Anya Hindmarch also hold MBEs. And her parents couldn’t be more proud!

“We are incredibly proud of her,” Mrs Temperley told local publication, This is Somerset. “She deserves it because she’s worked very, very hard for the last ten years.”

“We are very chuffed,” added Temperley’s father. “It’s an extraordinary story, and very much one of a Somerset farmer’s daughter going to local schools and finding inspiration.“

Christian Dior has severed ties with its creative director John Galliano following a second anti-Semetic rant.

In the latest released tirade, filmed last year, Galliano was captured abusing a couple at Paris’ La Perle cafe. The intoxicated designer declared “I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f***ing gassed.”

Charming, isn’t it? Christian Dior had already suspended the designer when he was arrested last week following allegations he subjected another couple to similar abuse. We’re starting to see a disturbing pattern!

“I condemn with the greatest firmness the comments made by John Galliano, in total contradiction with the essential values which have always been defended by Christian Dior,” said the firm’s chief executive, Sidney Toledo.

Jewish actress Natalie Portman, the face of the label’s Miss Dior Cherie perfume, said she was also “deeply shocked and disgusted” by Galliano’s comments.

While Galliano has been promptly dismissed, his final collection will show as planned on Friday in Paris. While it’s clear that he’s a racist jerk, he’s left some pretty big creative shoes to fill. Folks are already speculating that Giambattista Valli, Alessandra Facchinetti, or Haider Ackermann will get a call up. Who would you like to see instated as Christian Dior’s new creative director?

Decadence and glamor is the name of the game for the Menbur Cano clutch.

From tip to toe, this metal box clutch likes to make an impact. It is undeniably designed for evening wear, and would look ridiculous anywhere else, thanks to the cross-hatch gold tone metal framing the square front. The colors work for this impression too, as there is never anything more luxurious that the combination of gold and red tinted rich brown.

The usually beige Cole Haan goes a little wild with the adorably named Daisy tote.

The design of the bag is simple; it has to be! After all, any decoration would compete with that incredible tangerine shade, a vibrant orange that jumps up and smacks you in the face! If you are of the shy and retiring variety such a bright color may be far too much for you, but if you are feeling a little braver then this tote could be a great addition to an on-trend color blocking outfit.

As for the practicalities, well it does what it says on the tin really. A big bucket like interior compartment gives room for lots of belongings (although maybe not folders, making this slightly less suitable for work), whilst the adjustable handles make it nice and functional.

Cole Haan really has made something bold and different with this lovely pebbled  leather purse.
