After ten years in the fashion biz, Temperley London founder and designer Alice Temperley is looking back with the release of a new coffee table book.

Temperley True British tells the story of Temperley London’s first decade through images and personal stories. You’ll see the label’s iconic advertising campaigns and images from Temperley London’s runway shows, as well as many never seen before design sketches.

The launch of Temperley True British has been cleverly timed to coincide with the milestone birthday, but it’s been several years in the making.

“It is eclectic, rich in content, personal, informative and a very open document,” Alice Temperley said, adding that it feels “amazing” to see her work over the last ten years condensed into such a beautiful book.

Temperley True British, published by Rizzoli, will hit stores this October. The price hasn’t been announced at this point, but hopefully it’ll be a bit more affordable than similar books from other high-end designers. Tommy Hilfiger’s retrospective cost $550, and Goyard’s was a whopping $7250! If it’s even close to those numbers, something tells me it might end up on many fashionistas’ Christmas wish lists. Many of us secretly covet the flashy minaudieres from Judith Leiber, but know carrying one of the expensive glittering purses is beyond our wildest dreams. Happily Menbur has come up with a more affordable alternative. Meet the Cimabue minaudiere.

This egg-shaped clutch is daring and dramatic, with concentric beaded circles fanning out across the satiny surface. The silvery finish is glamorous, and the tiny beads stylish. They’re not Swarovski crystals, but we’re not paying for those faceted gemstones either.

Unfortunately when you look closer you’ll see that the corner cutting doesn’t just extend to the materials. The back of the minaudiere is disappointingly bare, something that the great Judith Leiber would never do. We can also see the silver satin peeking out from underneath the beads, which sort of cheapens the look.

But let’s remember, we’re not buying a Judith Leiber clutch. We’re buying a Menbur one, which is a comparative steal at $112. With a drop-in shoulder strap and satiny lined interior, this baby is a bargain!

Christian Louboutin is a touchstone of French fashion. His line is always chic, and when it’s a little over-the-top, it’s always done in a way that inspires confidence. This Loubi bow bag is a great example. Frankly, it’s a little overstated, but in a way that makes you take notice and love it.

If you had told me that I would love a bag that included the descriptors red, organza, and bow, I would have laughed my head off. But the way these elements have been combined on the Loubi is truly masterful. It’s not often that a giant red organza bow looks chic, but this is definitely one of those times.

The shape of the bag is part of its genius. Honestly, it’s just a simple pouch with a giant bow attached, but the simplicity of the pouch and the floppy exaggeration work together in a beautifully synchronistic way. The Louboutin stiletto clasp is the icing on top of a very delicious cake.

Honestly, I’m surprised by the $695 price tag. In a good way, I mean. I would have expected the Loubi to be at least several hundred dollars more expensive. I’m not saying it’s a deal, but, actually, yeah, it’s kind of a deal.

Structurally interesting bags don’t often pop up for less than $100, so it was very nice to come across this Michael Stars clutch.

There are many things about this purse that make it worth paying attention to. First there is that ruched and gathered fabric exterior. Kind of resembling a flower yet also resembling an artistic and abstract pattern, it adds interest to what would otherwise be a rather dull grayish khaki fabric. Then there is the wooden handle; it’s not unique, but certainly very good looking in contrast with that rough canvas.

As well as being fashionable, the canvas of this wooden framed clutch makes it more than suitable for summer. That is, if summer ever deigns to even suggest that it may, one day, arrive. The flip side, of course, is that the fabric probably won’t stand up to rain and miserable conditions as much as a plastic or leather counterpart would.

Michael Stars has clearly created something gorgeous with this ruched purse. Now we just have to wait for the right season!

Marc Jacob’s diffusion line is one of the best around, with on trend handbags that don’t cost the earth. The Flash Kelsey hobo is another great addition to his affordable collection.

Don’t let its name mislead you; the Flash Kelsey isn’t really as flashy as it sounds. In fact, as bags with exposed zips go, this one’s pretty tame. The zippers haphazardly go this way and that, but with its simple hobo shape the Flash Kelsey doesn’t seem especially cutting edge. It’s modern, but not so contemporary as to date quickly. The soft distressed leather is only going to look better as it ages, so this really is a bag you can happily carry for many years.

The Flash Kelsey is a good size for everyday use; it’s big but not so big that it’ll feel unwieldy. The interior is also made for daily punishment too, with its strong twill lining and reinforced leather trimmed pockets.

The strap only adds to that everyday appeal. Here you see it doubled over and the Flash Kelsey in shoulder bag mode. But unclip it and extend it out and you’ve got a cross-body purse.

All that for just $358? I think Marc Jacobs has another winner on his hands.

I’ve never been a fan of Ed Hardy’s work. All of those skulls and tattoo-style drawings just seemed a bit tacky to me. But with this Sable wallet the label’s shown me I shouldn’t give up on it altogether.

The Sable is a real change of pace for Ed Hardy. Its flower-accented butterflies and love hearts are whimsical and feminine. And in this rich red-purple synthetic, the logo is even discreet. If you prefer it to stand out more look to the pastel colors like pea green, pink, and white.

Turn it over and the wallet unfortunately shows the Ed Hardy style that I know and loathe. Unsightly pink graffiti type scrawls are a world away from the delicate illustrations on the front. Still, half a great Ed Hardy accessory is better than I’ve come to expect from the brand!

The Sable is a slim wallet, but it packs a practical punch. There are ten card slots, three open pockets for paper notes and receipts, a clear ID window, and a secure zippered pouch for change. A wrap-around zip makes sure your money will stay just where you left it.

At $45, I think Ed Hardy may win some new fans with this Sable wallet.

Beauty.com has enlisted Israeli designer Yigal Azrouel to create the Y Bag, a sample-packed purse available free to customers who spend $100 on Beauty.com products.

Yigal says he designed the Y Bag for modern women who demand a versatile accessory for everyday use.

“It’s simple, but there’s a toughness to the details that gives a stylish edge to whoever carries it,” he said in a statement.

It appears like a small camera bag, but its quilted cotton exterior and leatherette accents give it a bit of a lift. I like the way the detachable wrist loop helps it convert from clutch or cosmetics purse to wristlet, but I’m still feeling a bit underwhelmed. It’s sad when the best part of a bag is its insides, but that’s just what we see here. The bold black and white leopard print lined space, with its zippered mini-compartment and elastic loops, is very smart.

I’m also excited about the goodies Beauty.com has stuffed inside. Each Y Bag is sold with a $10 Beauty.com shopping card and plenty of sample-sized toiletries and cosmetics, including lip gloss, nail polish, body butter, and foundation primer.

The collaboration with Yigal Azrouel isn’t one of Beauty.com’s most exciting designer purses, but it’s hard to criticize a free gift too harshly!
