Alexander Wang’s new season of accessories is awesome. I really wasn’t sure he could live up to the hype that the last few seasons created, but he definitely has. This Adele trunk clutch is another Wang It bag.

The combination of the rich taupe suede and the dark brown leather creates an almost ombre effect that is both tonal and textural. There are very few hardware accents, but what there are are made of gorgeous vintage gold. The effect is subtle and elegant.

The shape of the Adele is revolutionary. The structure of the suede “trunk” of the bag is enhanced by the way the glossy leather pokes out and puffs up on the sides. It kind of has a sandwiched effect actually. That sounds a little low brow, but it doesn’t come off that way at all. Instead, it looks like a really unique accessory that women are going to be clamoring over for seasons to come.

As always, Wang’s designs come at a fraction of the cost of other designers. $625 is expensive, but not considering the inherent collectibility of the Adele.

Just as Juliet swooned for her Shakespearian love, I’m feeling a bit heady as I look at the Romeo handbag from Clara Kasavina.

This isn’t a purse for the faint of heart, but if you enjoy excess this may be the evening bag for you. I’ve been suffering stud fatigue lately, but the Romeo has reinvigorated me. Clara Kasavina has shunned traditional metal for polished Swarovski crystal. Just look at the way those crystal spikes catch the light. I’m not sure how they’ll wear though, as crystal is notoriously fragile. I wouldn’t be surprised if those pointed spikes dull after a few seasons.

More of those tiny crystals cover the sides of the Romeo and its clasp. These gems push the purse over the edge, but for the right occasion that sense of drama will be just what’s needed. I’m not so enthusiastic about the collection of chains though. I appreciate a hands-free option, particularly when the purse is too spiky to clutch, but this dark chain is a bit lackluster. Such a striking purse deserves a strap to match it.

The Romeo certainly isn’t cheap at $1550, but it’s so original that I’m sure it’ll still sell!

Bomabata hopes to capitalize on the upcoming release of the iPad 2 with its new range of iPad and laptop cases.

“Items like the iPad have a cool factor that requires an equally cool way to carry and store them,” commented Michal Hubacher of CH Marketing, the company who’s bringing the Italian tech cases to the United States. Clearly he believes the Bombata accessories fit the bill.

The 13-inch MicroBombata, with its leather-looking vinyl shell, is a great size for housing tablets, including the iPad 2. It features Velcro straps for keeping tablets in their place, space for cables and peripherals, plenty of organizational pockets, and an adjustable shoulder strap. It’s the cheapest Bombata model at $39.

If your technology is a bit larger, look to the 17-inch Classic Bombata. This case, which can hold a 15-inch laptop, costs $49. Finally there’s the Coccobombata, another 17-inch case available with a chic checkered finish in black or burgundy. I’m not sure that surface makes it worth the $59 that Bombata asks, but I’ll let you be the judge.

The coral colored leather and delicate studded quilting we fell for on the Hudson clutch has been used to great effect on Gorjana’s Hudson shoulder bag.

There’s a time and a place for clutches, but this bigger shoulder bag should suit more occasions. It’s larger but still ladylike in stature and design, so we get that everyday application without compromising on style.

The studded quilting covers the front flap while the rest is blissfully bare. All over quilting would have been too overwhelming I think; Gorjana’s struck the right balance here. The long shoulder strap gives us the best of both worlds. The golden chain is really stylish, while the leather center helps to cushion our shoulder.

Packrats might struggle to fit everything they need inside this shoulder bag, but I think the size is just right. The slender dimensions will limit what we can store inside, but they also make the Hudson look so sophisticated. That slim design also means we won’t be tempted to load it up with extra items that will weigh us down.

At $298 this shoulder bag is a bit more expensive than its companion clutch, but its larger size, shoulder strap, and versatility helps to justifies the additional outlay.

It seems like as soon as I start to become really disappointed in DKNY, it does something wonderful. That’s not entirely bad, it just makes them seem pretty inconsistent as a line as far as I’m concerned. Regardless, this leather and cotton tote is super classic and beautiful, not to mention entirely affordable.

The creamy beige color of the cotton material on this bag is traditional, especially combined with the tan leather accents. I love the subtlety of the discrete silver hardware, which is peppered across the bag in small studs and on simple, shiny buckles.

The frame-top shape of the bag is extraordinary. The clean, large design is something of a modern carpet bag, akin to Mary Poppins’ famous bottomless bag. In this case, however, it isn’t made of brocade; it’s made of simple materials that makes for an extremely elegant daytime look. In addition to the sweet dual top handles, it also has a wide and comfortable leather strap.

At $325, this is a seriously versatile bag at a seriously reasonable price.

This clutch may not be the first time we have seen Prezzo use a chunky metal mesh on its purses, but the simple and traditional shape make this a winner.

Metal mesh is a great handbag material, but it does run the risk of being a little over used. This is why it is always refreshing to see an alternative to the same old same old, like this flat over-sized metal work. You still get the tactile qualities, but in a new and modern design. Of course, Prezzo could have added something else to the decoration, but it has instead chosen to let the metal do all of the talking.

As for the design, well this is where we see the effect of the affordable $46 price tag. There is nothing wrong with the simple shape, but at the same time there is nothing particularly right either. It just does what it needs to, without any extra effort. We wouldn’t expect any more of course, at least not from a budget brand.

The medium length handle makes this a less than practical cross-body option, but it can leave your hands free to party the night away.

Kin Kin is the latest handbag label to hit the thriving UK fashion scene. Designers Michelle Wilkins and Andrew Chongsathien say their purses are a fresh alternative to the other bags on the market, especially as they’re designed to match “your favorite kicks or latest high tops.”

Kin Kin is starting small with just five different color combinations of its signature bag launched on its website this month. The self-titled Kin Kin Bag pictured is an innovative fashion accessory which is made to carry in five different ways. Now that’s what I call convertible!

Every Kin Kin bag is hand cut and sewn at the label’s Cardiff studio. That attention to detail means the designers only produce limited numbers of each style. What a blessing for girls who like their handbag to stand out from the pack.

Kin Kin is certainly a brand to watch this year, as it’s got more product lines, releases, and design collaborations in the pipeline. I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far, and can’t wait to see what will come next!

Convertible Bags on eBay

When is a hobo not a hobo? When it’s the Hazard from Puma!

Puma calls this bag a hobo satchel, and I can certainly see qualities of both handbag styles in it. That casual slouch is unmistakably hobo, but its rectangular shape and practical pockets remind me of a satchel. And then giving it a style all its own is the glitzy platinum silver body and striking black trim. The only negative for me is the braided strap, which doesn’t seem to gel with the Hazard’s relaxed, clean look.

The Hazard has the athletic vibe we associate with Puma’s gym bags, and I’m sure it’d do a great job in that role. It’s large enough to handle trainers and towels, and the polyester lining shouldn’t hold sweaty work-out odors.

But unlike so many Puma bags, I don’t think the Hazard needs to be strictly a gym bag. It’s got enough style to suit days working at a creative office or hitting the mall. The extra pockets we don’t normally see in gym bags also help matters. That versatility means you won’t have to regret purchasing the Hazard if your enthusiasm for exercise wanes!

A celebration for Olympia Le-Tan’s new Housewives Choice collection turned sour when all fourteen samples were stolen.

Le-Tan was celebrating with an intimate party at Paris’ Shakespeare and Co. book store when the clutch purses were stolen from her room at the Hotel Crillon. How the robber managed to evade hotel security or knew exactly which room to attack is anybody’s guess, but Olympia Le-Tan is understandably distressed by the violation.

She has pleaded for the thief to return the bags via Twitter, insisting that she will not judge his or her actions.

“I will just be happy to have them back!!” she commented before asking “Why would someone kidnap someone else’s 14 babies!!?? Mean! Super mean!“

I just hope for Olympia Le-Tan’s sake the culprit gets a guilty conscious, and that if not it doesn’t push her release date back too much. I can understand wanting to get your hands on some designer exclusives, but it’s a low act to resort to theft. Surely you couldn’t go out carrying these unreleased purses without someone noticing, so what’s the point?

We’ll keep you updated on whether Olympia Le-Tan recovers her missing samples, and any other fallout from this the theft of these prized purses.

Imoshion delivers a hobo with all of the slouch yet none of the hippie spirit with the Catalonia.

I rarely think of synthetic as being a material which can dress a bag up, but that’s exactly what the man-made skin does on this hobo. It’s of such high quality that it could easily pass as real leather. I adore its distressed finish, and the way it slouches in all the right places. Some bagistas might long for a few more color options, but I love the dangerous motorcycle vibe that the black brings.

The beaded metal strap is what gives the Catalonia its flair, but I’m not as enthusiastic about it. While it certainly makes the hobo look a bit edgier, it’s not very practical. All that extra bulk and metal isn’t very comfortable to carry. A bag this size really deserves a cushy strap as it’ll drag down on your shoulders, and this one just doesn’t cut the mustard.

Still it’s hard to be too critical of such a stylish bag when it costs just $75. You’ll be hard pressed to find such a sexy looking hobo at this price point.
