Winter may be months away, but Liz Claiborne doesn’t seem to mind. This icy-colored Snow Cone Pop tote could serve you well at any time of year.

This isn’t a very luxurious handbag, but it makes up for it with its retro style. There’s something so appealing about the blend of aqua cotton and blue patent trim. I’m not so sure about the large panel on the front of the bag, but the piping and rolled handles make this simple tote a lot more fun. While I don’t like how it looks I can forgive the panel though; it hides a large pocket which is sure to come in handy.

A flap inside the purse has a zippered pocket and open slip built in. There’s also a large coin purse, which can be detached if you want to travel light. I imagine taking this smaller purse off for mid-morning coffee runs or visits to the grocery store.

The only disappointment for me is the lack of closure. The platform base should help it stay upright, but some extra security would give us all more peace of mind.

This Liz Claiborne tote is fairly simple, but it’s got a lot of personality for its $70 price tag.

Chanel has stepped away from its classic feminine style for its latest, more androgynous handbag collection, the Boy Chanel.

Gone is the quilting the French fashion house is famous for, replaced instead with sleek, smooth calfskin leather. The design is clean and more masculine than the usual Chanel offering, although you’d never call it tomboyish. In fact the name comes not from its masculinity but from Boy Capel, the English polo player who had a passionate love affair with Coco Chanel herself.

The style is designed to be worn as a shoulder bag or cross-body with a little strap adjustment. There are three different sizes available, ranging from the small purse to the everyday tote. There are a range of classic colors available including black, gray, red, lead green, and ivory.

Personally I’m a bit torn by the designs. I’m thrilled to see Chanel trying something new, and on the whole I appreciate the Boy Chanel’s more minimalist aesthetic. But I’ve got a few reservations. Those chunky chain straps look like they’d be heavy and uncomfortable to manage, and I’m not sure they add enough to the design to put up with those niggles. I’m also not a fan of the embossed Chanel logo on top of the bags. I suppose it’s an improvement from those oversized interlocking Cs, but this kind of blatant branding doesn’t seem in keeping with the Boy Chanel’s look.

It seems perforated leather is everywhere these days. Most often it gives accessories a sporty, athletic feel, but under the hands of the right designer these tiny holes can make a purse seem very chic. Linea Pelle’s used the finish well with the Addison Tri-Fold Wallet.

I think the secret here is restraint. Square perforations dot the flap, while the leather beneath is kept perfectly plain. When we’re dealing with Italian leather of such quality, that subtlety is welcomed. The skin has been enzyme washed to make it even softer and more luxurious than the average leather.

The Addison isn’t all about keeping up appearances though. Inside you’ll find everything a serious shopaholic needs, including a zippered coin pouch, pair of bill pockets, and 13 card slots. There’s also a clear slot too, which is perfect for storing your license, proof of age card, or a photo of your new guy or gal pals.

At $135 the Addison isn’t the cheapest wallet around, but its high quality materials and stylish design make it well worth the money.

I’m not sure it’ll turn as many heads as its name suggests, but there’s a certain charm to the practical Terri Triple Take.

As far as its looks go, this really isn’t anything we haven’t seen from Lily Waters before. It’s got familiar floral prints in a vivid rainbow of colors. Its fabric is stitched with traditional diamond quilting. You know the drill. Fans will appreciate her dedication to her design vision, but it’s not likely to win over any new customers.

The Terri Triple Take’s configuration is more exciting to me. Ordinarily Lily Waters makes stock standard designs, so I’m thrilled to see her make a wristlet that delivers a bit more than the average. This one actually has three separate compartments, so we can fit more inside than we’d expect and still stay organized. The wrist strap is also detachable so you can work this purse as a clutch if you prefer.

We can always count on Lily Waters accessories to be as cheap as they are cheerful, but I didn’t expect this purse to be just $22. Now that’s worth a triple take!

Paris Hilton has just made her signature handbags more accessible with the launch of her online store.

The American heiress and reality TV starlet has started small with her first handbag collection. There are just two different styles: the Croco Dream shoulder bag and tote. Each one is available in classic black, white, and burgundy wine shades. They’re not as luxurious as we might expect anything created by the heiress to be, but perhaps she wants to help women of all budgets to accessorize!

By using PVC rather than real crocodile or even genuine leather, Hilton has priced the shoulder bag at $95 and the tote at an even more affordable $90. The small everyday handbag collection sits alongside Hilton’s T-shirts, watches, shoes, fragrances, and faux nails and lashes.

By putting her croc-embossed purses and other apparel and accessories items online, Hilton has saved us all a trip to her latest bricks and mortar store in Dubai. Now if she could just work on extending the range, and offering a few more luxurious options, we’d be really happy. Surely she’s got time to work on those things in between filming her new World According to Paris series for the Oxygen channel, right?

We all love LeSportsac’s practical purses, but sometimes the label’s prints can feel a bit tired. So I’m thrilled to see this Pixie bag from the label’s recent collaboration with funky American label, Joyrich. Its contemporary leopard print gives this LeSportsac staple an extra hit of spice.

This leopard print isn’t trying to look authentic. It’s a more modern creature, with poppy fluorescent pink dots accenting the blotchy black animal spots. The strap is also an improvement on the original model, at least from a stylistic point of view. Chains are never entirely comfortable, but with the material threaded through the links it calls to mind high end fashion houses.

It might look the part with its gleaming golden hardware, but as with all LeSportsac purses this Pixie isn’t about luxury. It’s made of cotton strengthened with a thin layer of PVC. What that material lacks in high-end appeal it makes up for with practicality. You can simply wipe it clean when stains show, and rest easy knowing it’ll withstand those unexpected spring showers.

The Pixie is a pint-sized purse, but it’s packed with practical features. LeSportsac makes the most of the space inside by adding two large pockets on the front. These help us stay organized without cluttering up the interior.

At $62 this new Pixie is almost twice the price of the original model, but it’s still not a lot of money to spend on a bag so stylish.

Old fire hoses are enjoying a new lease on life thanks to eco-friendly accessories company, Feuerwear. The label uses the hoses to create durable and green bags, wallets, and belts.

You can’t help thinking about the life these materials have lived, and the people they might have helped save, as you carry these bags. They were exposed to soot and ash as they served Europe’s firefighters, but today have been scrubbed clean. The Fossil Vintage range re-lives some of the best traditional vintage moments from our fashion past.

The particular Zeitgeist being re-enacted for this fabric tote is the utilitarian look. This style is one that constantly cycles in and out of fashion, and it will have re-occurred time and time again throughout the course of the past 40-odd years. This means, of course, that you can rest assured it will always be somewhere close to being in fashion again, allowing you to justify the cost to yourself that much easier!

As for the bag itself, well there is something classic about it that makes it rather attractive. Yet, at the same time, it is (of course!) rather practical, what with all the pockets and the massive spacious interior. My only hesitation, as with all cream bags, is how easily they get stained, especially if they are in a simple non-waterproof fabric. You’ll just have to be careful!

If you’ve always lusted after Lauren Merkin’s clutches but hoped for something a bit bigger, meet the Alice. This has all of the exotic charm of the designer’s evening purses with a bit more space.

Embossed reptilian finishes rarely measure up to the genuine article, but I think Lauren Merkin has done the seemingly impossible here. It’s controversial to say, but she may have improved on the original. The snake scales are softened by using suede rather than a more traditional leather. This buttery material is the ideal foil for the Alice’s gentle brown hue. The effect is so dreamy, and we save ourselves some serious cash. While such a large bag made from real snakeskin would certainly cost four figures, this one is just $425!

The Alice’s shape is also really striking. I love what the structured cut-out handles bring to the design, even if they’re not entirely practical to use. That’s not too much of a concern though as Lauren Merkin has also added a longer strap. This will come in really handy if you’ve got errands to run or plans to take this bag from day to night.

The elegant styling of the Alice can easily adapt itself to any situation, so I’m sure you’ll get your money’s worth.

I haven’t always warmed to the trend-conscious designs of Laurel and Sunset, but there’s a certain something special about the Natie hobo.

Wide horizontal stripes in pretty, frothy shades adorn the large, slouchy handbag. It’s unashamedly girly, but I love the sweetness of these pastel hues. Laurel and Sunset knows it won’t suit everybody’s tastes though, so it’s also offered up more classic black and white and brown and white combos.

Whichever one you pick you’ll appreciate all the features Laurel and Sunset includes. It’s easy to see just how enormous this hobo is, but the brand has given us all the organizational aids we need. There are three interior pockets, and another large zippered one on the back. And you can also see the matching cell phone pouch, which protects your technology and looks great. The straps are just the right size for easy carrying, which helps me forgive the tacky hardware at their base.

It’s too easy to point to this hobo’s shortcomings, from its cheap synthetic body to its untrimmed pockets. But we all know that it’s rare to find something so fun and functional for a mere $29.95. Girls on a budget will see real value here.
