From its distinctive turn-lock closure to its richly pebbled leather, this Antony cross-body bag could only be a Mulberry.

I have mixed feelings about the Antony’s style. On one hand, Mulberry bags are becoming real status symbols. They look good no matter what the situation; they’re not too casual for dinner at most restaurants, but they also make an everyday outfit seem more sophisticated.

But when a designer clings so fiercely to a creative vision, it also gets very predictable. Before clamping eyes on the Antony I could have imagined just what it would look like. Now and again, I wish Mulberry would surprise us.

There aren’t any surprises here, not even on the inside. A small pocket is hidden beneath the flap, but there are none inside. The Antony isn’t large enough to warrant an extensive organization system though, so I don’t mind their omission too much.

I am disappointed in the cross-body strap though. While the Antony’s body is made of luxurious leather, the strap is simple canvas. It’s tough and comfortable to wear, but it cheapens the look a bit.

The Antony is well-priced for a bag that will work its way into your wardrobe so easily. At $490, I can definitely see value for money.

Celebrity twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have given us a sneak peek at their first collection of handbags for their high-end fashion label The Row.

Frankly, I’m feeling a little uninspired by the images I’ve seen so far. While the ostrich skin of the Twin Mini Bag and the alligator used for the Metal Frame Clutch are lovely, the designs seem a little generic. There’s something to be said for classic styling, but these purses could have come from any fashion house. They seem to be executed by numbers, without any real passion. Considering some of the fabulous purses we’ve seen the Olsen twins carrying in the past, I frankly expected more originality.

The prices are also exorbitant. I expect to pay through the nose for exotic materials, but even the regular leather handbags cost a few months rent. The cheapest purse costs a whopping $4,700 and the most expensive one will set you back $5,800. Ouch!

If you can see something I can’t in The Row handbags I’d start saving now. They’ll hit stores in late July. Are you as unimpressed by these bags as I am, or can you see some creativity in Mary-Kate and Ashley’s new line?

Moschino plans to make you swoon with this Print-A-Porter purse from its Love Moschino collection. But has it sent your heart racing?

Ordinarily fabric bags look so, well, ordinary, so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Its body is like so many canvas totes, although its psychedelic inspired Love Moschino logo gives it a bit of personality. But it’s the carry straps that really elevate this handbag for me. They’re much more substantial than the handles we typically see on fabric handbags, and the Print-A-Porter looks much classier for it. The loosely braided handles are a stylish way to carry this bag over your shoulder, but if you’ve got a distance to travel you may prefer to add the longer cross-body strap.

The carry straps aren’t the only area where Moschino has gone the extra mile. Metal feet are an unexpected but welcome touch, as they’ll ensure the pale fabric doesn’t become dirty when it’s set down. The fully lined interior is also luxurious, although it could use a few more pockets.

I always hesitate to spend more than $100 on a fabric handbag, but Moschino has certainly added enough extras to tempt me with this $270 shoulder bag.

Notice that I said need, not want. Because I know you’re looking at this satchel and starting to yawn. I can’t say that I blame you. It certainly doesn’t have the personality of many satchels on the market, and for that reason it could be easily overlooked.

Pen holders and organizers go the extra mile, helping us take care of the office essentials and the bits and pieces we need after work.

At $228 the Metropolitan is relatively affordable when compared to other leather bags on the markets. And best of all, it will work hard to make sure you never regret your purchase. It may not scream very loudly, but its evergreen style makes it a great go-to bag.

Incase is celebrating the work of enduring pop artist Andy Warhol with its latest collection of tech bags and cases.

Incase’s Andy Warhol collection features protective laptop sleeves and shoulder bags, snap cases for iPhones, and book jackets in a range of Andy Warhol prints. There are five different designs in all, including Banana and $ (9).

Something tells me that Warhol would approve of his designs being used in these tech-focused accessories as he was always so cutting-edge and interested in the way culture and technology was evolving. However I can’t imagine he’d appreciate Incase cutting three dollar signs off his famous $ (9) piece! That sort of tampering with art is a bit unforgivable in a line designed to celebrate the artist’s work, don’t you think?

The project was produced in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, a non-profit organization which helps to promote the visual arts.

Incase’s Andy Warhol Collection tech accessories are available from the Incase website. Prices start at $49.95 for the snap case and top $149.95 for the shoulder bags. That’s a lot cheaper than an Andy Warhol original, but also a little pricy when compared to other basic tech bags on the market. This line may be one for the art enthusiasts I think!

For a while now I’ve worried that Miu Miu’s accessories may be blending into the background. They were perfectly polite, but they didn’t seem to rev me anymore. But there’s no danger of this mini flap shoulder bag being ignored!

The starburst appliqué which decorates this bag is completely wild. It’s very 80s, but it’s like nothing that the other retro trend followers are doing. I enjoy it when designers march to the beat of their own drums and interpret trends in different ways, but I’m also not sure about these stars.

The metallic shades are inspired, unexpectedly complementing one another and the purse’s gentle silvery tone. But I can’t imagine the stars having a very long shelf life. Fashion trends only need to shift a little and this purse will look silly, even though its base is very conservative.

If you don’t mind purchasing a new handbag when the next fashion trend sets in, go ahead. You’ll enjoy this purse’s trio of compartments and its ornamental shoulder strap. The rest of us may want to exercise more caution though. At $1055, this Miu Miu bag is just too expensive for something that may find itself in the back of the closet before long.

Gucci is celebrating its 90th year in the fashion industry with the release of an exclusive anniversary collection.

The 1921 Collection is comprehensive, with commemorative men’s and women’s apparel, handbags, jewelry, watches, and other accessories all available through Gucci stores. Each piece pays homage to the craftsmanship and luxury materials that have made Gucci a household name.

“Each item in the collection tells a story, representing a chapter within the house’s rich narrative history,” explained Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini.

The range features new versions of Gucci’s best-selling handbags, including the New Bamboo, New Jackie, and Horsebit Chain handbags in crocodile and calfskin finishes. The lads don’t miss out either, with vintage-inspired men’s suitcases embossed with Gucci’s classic Diamante design. Familiar Gucci motifs include the Gucci green and crest, also make appearances. Each accessory is stamped with the words “G. GUCCI Firenze 1921” to guarantee its authenticity.

Giannini says that the anniversary line is just one of the many ways the Italian fashion house is celebrating this milestone birthday. I wonder what’s next on the agenda!

Gucci’s 1921 Collection is scheduled to hit Gucci stores later this month, so you don’t have a lot of time to save for what will undoubtedly be an expensive line.

Miquelrius gives us a purse that’s just what it says on the tin with the Sweet Suede Wristlet.

A review of this wristlet need say little more than it’s made of suede, and very sweet. But in the interests of properly informing you, I’ll go beyond that superficial analysis. Its pale pink suede body is embellished with a swirling design from Miquelrius’ favorite artist, Jordi Labanda. Personally I prefer this more abstract design than the female forms Labanda typically draws on Miquelrius’ handbags, although it’s a matter of personal taste. I imagine this purse won’t date as quickly though, and its debossed pattern should help you make the transition from Miquelrius loving teen to mature fashionista.

The pink color may be a bit sugary for serious fashion fans though. It’s not an overly saccharine pink, but a few more available shades could have widened the Sweet Suede wristlet’s appeal.

Wristlets are never extraordinarily large, so I don’t expect any surprises inside. So I was thrilled to see Miquelrius offers a large zippered pocket and cell phone slip. This should help you keep the interior clutter free for longer, a real blessing when you’re dealing with a relatively small space.

At $140 this is one of Miquelrius’ most expensive accessories, but its high-quality suede body helps to justify the higher cost.

Using zips as decorative features tends to go one of two ways. It either looks a bit trampy and unnecessarily try hard, or it looks edgy and streetwise. Interestingly, this Santi clutch doesn’t come across as either!

The zip edged roses lining the top of this satin clutch actually manage to just look … well … pretty! Santi has avoided all the pitfalls, I reckon, purely through a smart color choice. The peach fabric is summery and obviously on trend (and by far the best color of the four on offer), but it has kept the contrast between the fabric and the metal teeth minimal by coordinating the bronze. It seems more like a cohesive whole than it otherwise would, and looks pretty and interesting rather than a little bit ridiculous.

As for the rest of this purse, well it is pretty and cute. The folds of satin are luxurious, and the look will work well with a pretty dress. It is much appreciated that Santi has added a chain strap for when you get tired of clutching it, and the interior is spacious if a little sparse on pockets for cards and change.

All in all, this is a pretty evening bag, but I’m not sure its design quite justifies the $215 price tag. However, if this is the perfect shade of peach for you (and we all know how hard that can be!) then you might want to shell out!

I wasn’t really  fan of Michael Kors until his MICHAEL diffusion line got really awesome and I had to take a closer look at the collection. This bag is a masterful piece of minimalism, and though it might not scream “fashion icon,” that’s exactly the point. It doesn’t scream at all.

The small, fine grain on the leather is geniusly showcased on this pared down style. There are absolutely no non-functional embellishments. And the functional ones, the detailed seaming and strap attachments, are all low key and perfectly balanced.

There is a tiny gold logoplate, but it’s on the back, so it doesn’t interfere with the sparkly clean lines of the bag. The shape is reminiscent of a saddle bag, but squared off slightly. This bag is so classic it almost seems edgy, and I can’t think of a single daytime outfit that it wouldn’t work with.

$695 is an extremely reasonable price to pay for such a timeless bag. I’d get on it if I were you.
