French travel accessories label Tintamar gave attendees at the recent Tax Free World Association World Exhibition a sneak peek at its latest additions, including a pair of lavish limited edition lines.

Luxury lovers will be drawn to the Peacock Collection, a small limited edition line accented with real peacock feathers. These plumes are complemented by velvety navy, khaki, and noisette-hued materials. The range features reworkings of Tintamar’s famous Very Intelligente Pocket, or the VIP as it’s commonly known, and VIP Access purses in three different sizes.

If feathers aren’t your thing you may prefer Tintamar’s Sparkling Collection, which is every bit as glittery and girly as it sounds. The VIP and VIP Access purses re-appear again in this line. These Tintamar staples sit alongside a new evening bag called the Sparkling Box. All the Sparkling accessories are available in luminescent bronze and black shades.

Considering their limited edition status the Peacock and Sparkling accessories are quite reasonably priced. The VIP Access purses start at €14 and top €18 for the largest size. The Sparkling Box is a bit more expensive at €25, while the VIPs round out the range at €45. Look for these limited edition Tintamar lines in stores in time for Christmas shopping.

Lucky Brand revisits its bohemian roots with this Ojai cross-body bag.

This purse feels like it’s stepped right out of the late 60s with its natural ivory toned crochet finish and relaxed tan leather accents. It’s not very luxurious, but it’s just the thing for putting the finishing touches on a boho inspired accent. I can just imagine pairing it with a maxi dress and heading out to a summer festival. I’m not sure it’d see as much use during winter, but with the right outfit it could still work during cooler weather. Crochet is only one step away from a wooly knit after all!

The Ojai looks very simple, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s very narrow, but its soft fabric helps the bag expand to hold more than you’d expect. Its interior is fully lined and kitted out with several organizational pockets. The woven cotton strap is made to last, wide enough to fit comfortably on your shoulder, and fully adjustable for just the right fit.

Its leather accents do drive the price up, but those well placed corner patches should also help look good for several seasons. That promise of longevity should make the Ojai’s $129 price tag seem a bit more tempting.

Being green is about more than color with this Honesty Saddle Bag from Helen Riegle.

It’s called the Honesty because its layers were inspired by the large leaves of the Honesty plant, or the Silver Dollar as it’s often called. It makes sense for this handbag to take its cues from nature as it’s very environmentally conscious. Helen Riegle has crafted it from recycled microsuede, a soft but durable suede alternative which is kind to animals and their planet.

The layers will turn heads, but they’ve also got a practical purpose. They cleverly hide pockets which provide extra storage space. The functional features continue with a personal media device holder and a detachable key clip. The modern buckle makes the strap adjustable, but even fully extended it’s a little short for easy cross-body wear. An extra inch or two would have made all the difference.

This is a minor quibble in what’s otherwise a really innovative handbag, especially for the money. $235 isn’t exactly small change for a fabric handbag, but it’s quite reasonable for such a unique purse.

Iconic American label Brooks Brothers will make its small screen debut with an appearance on shopping network ShopNBC later this month. The hour-long program, which will screen first on November 18, will feature Brooks Brothers’ leather purses, silk scarves, cashmere wraps, and jewelry.

Lou Amendola, the chief merchandising officer at Brooks Brothers, said his firm was “excited” to partner with ShopNBC. He continued that presenting its products on television is a “unique and modern way” to reach existing fans of the brand as well as women who may discover Brooks Brothers for the first time.

It’s hard to believe that anyone is discovering Brooks Brothers after 190 years in the business, but it’s true that seeing the accessories on the television may pay dividends for the brand. While everyone is aware of the label, many women may not know how its latest goodies look, or even what kinds of accessories the company offers.

Annette Repasch, ShopNBC’s chief merchandising officer, is also enthusiastic about her network’s association with Brooks Brothers. She said that the label’s addition to the ShopNBC fashion stable will provide viewers with “classic wardrobe staples that fit” their lifestyles.

Big Buddha’s encouraging high class women to consider animal-free leather with this Uptown Satchel.

Big Buddha tends to favor synthetics rather than real leather, but it’s rare to find them as lovely as this one. While it’s a bit thin the leatherette is very soft. It probably won’t fool anyone, but it’s certainly worth the $104.95 Big Buddha is asking.

So many Big Buddha handbags are trend conscious, so it’s refreshing to see one that follows more traditional lines. Its domed shape is softened with some well placed pleating. The classic diamond quilting is double stitched to give it a bit more personality. The gold-toned hardware complements the range of colors, which while traditional offers plenty of choice. Personally I can’t go past the versatility of basic black, but there are five more options if it doesn’t rock your boat.

The Uptown is also really practical, with plenty of space and organizational features to match. One wall has a large zippered pocket while the other has a duo of slips for gadgets. It doesn’t exactly exceed our expectations, but when a bag is this affordable it’s impressive just to get them met.

I’m not sure whether Big Buddha has done enough to convince posh types to trade in their leather, but this satchel is a great buy for bargain hunters.

Reese Witherspoon is the latest celebrity to feel PETA’s wrath after she stepped out carrying a python skin Chloe Paraty purse. PETA glibly declared that “No matter how much Reese paid for that bag, the animals paid a higher price.”

The animal rights group then went on to explain that millions of snakes are impaled on hooks, pumped full of water to loosen their skins, and then skinned alive each year. That’s disturbing, but surely not every fashion house obtains their snake skins in such a barbaric fashion. I’m not suggesting that using any animal skin product would ever please PETA, but I also wonder whether it knows exactly how Chloe comes upon its snakeskin.

PETA says it’s sure Reese doesn’t support such acts of animal cruelty but declared the onus is on her to research such matters before indulging in a new accessory. The spokesperson then suggested that a faux snakeskin handbag would have been a much better choice.

It’s true that replica exotics have come a long way in recent years, but I wonder why PETA’s targeting the customer rather than the fashion house itself. Perhaps this is all about going after a big name, a move that’s guaranteed to garner some media coverage. It may also be disappointed that the woman it named the “sexiest vegetarian” a couple of years ago has now crossed to “the dark side.” Some commentators suggest Reese’s accessory choice is particularly troubling as snakeskin sales are banned in her native California, but let’s not forget how well traveled the actress is.

Chloe Paraty Purses on eBay

Lauren Merkin takes a more straight-laced approach than usual with this Blair clutch.

The designer is famous for her gently pleated purses, so it’s refreshing to see one with a different finish. The Blair’s clean lines make it seem a little more androgynous and sophisticated, less girly girl and more modern woman. I appreciate the approach as it allows the snake-embossed material to shine. Pleating would have muddied the mottled texture; the smoother finish allows us to appreciate those monochromatic scales.

I really like the way the polished gunmetal buckle complements the Blair’s gray leather body. Open it up to reveal an interior which is a little larger than the average. I appreciate all that extra storage space, but wish we had a chain strap to help us out. Once it’s full the Blair may become unmanageable, particularly as the day wears on.

Exotic finishes like this work well during the day or night, which makes the Blair’s $350 price tag seem very reasonable. It’s no bargain, but its wearability should help you see value for your dollars.

Inge Christopher gets Gothic with this beautiful Charlott Clutch.

I can’t help thinking of intricate old architecture and stained glass windows as I take in this purse. Bold golden satin peeps through black lambskin leather, which is laser-cut in an elaborate floral pattern. The effect is so striking, or at least it is in this color. I don’t mind the red one either, but in mellow pewter it loses a lot of its fire power.

The Charlott has an ergonomic pyramid style shape which will fit easily in your hand. However it also comes with a chain strap if you feel like going hands-free. This is detachable too, so if you’re not using it you can save space inside. That’s a real plus because while the Charlott isn’t teeny-tiny, you’d never call it large either.

Its high quality materials and elaborate design help to justify its $198 price tag. That’s a lot to spend on an evening purse, but if you can rock it during the day you’ll likely see value here.

Sydney Weinger, the granddaughter of diet queen Jenny Craig, is behind new accessories line Morton & Hudson. The Parsons School of Design graduate creates high-quality Italian leather purses with a minimalist aesthetic. This helps ensure the accessories are not just timeless, but also season-less.

Weinger says her grandmother has been an inspiration as she built her business from nothing into an iconic empire. As you’d expect with handbags crafted from such luxurious leathers and made in limited qualities, the Morton & Hudson accessories don’t come cheaply. However they’re also not exorbitant by fashion standards. You’ll find the Kensington pictured for $450 from the Morton & Hudson website.

Rebecca Minkoff has a bit of fun with fashion with this playful Spend/Save Wallet.

From the outside it looks like so many modern wallets, although it has a bit more flair than the average. Studs and eyelets dot its black leather body in a regular formation, creating a finish that’s edgy but not completely out of control. I love the way the metal accents pop against the leather and complement the wallet’s wrap around zip.

The Spend/Save wears its sense of humor on the inside though. Open it up to reveal large golden lettering. One side tells us to spend and the other to save, so this wallet is almost like the angel and the devil on our shoulder! Perhaps we’re meant to store our savings cards, license, and other responsible cards on one side and our store loyalty and credit cards on the other! However you choose to organize it, you’ll probably find the eight credit card slots isn’t quite enough. It’s a start though, and we can always stash more plastic in the pair of bill compartments.

At $250 this wallet is on the expensive side, but by hiding its quirk inside Rebecca Minkoff has helped us get value here.
