Acid-tongued fashion critic Mr. Blackwell has passed away due to an intestinal infection at the age of 86.

Mr. Blackwell was born Richard Sylvan Selzer in America’s fashion capital, New York City. He wrote his first fashion critique in 1960 and continued to work until his death. He hosted his own television program, Mr. Blackwell Presents, in 1968, and even designed his own clothing line.

But Mr. Blackwell will be best remembered for taunting Hollywood starlets and icons alike in his annual worst-dressed list.

Some of Mr. Blackwell’s most popular fashion victims include the always outrageous pop diva Cher, socialite heiress Paris Hilton, and Hermes Birkin bag loving Brit Victoria Beckham.

“I merely said out loud what others were whispering. It’s not my intention to hurt the feelings of these people. It’s to put down the clothing they’re wearing,” Mr. Blackwell once said.

Mr. Blackwell’s quick wit and brutal honesty will be sorely missed.

Luxury European designer Gucci has launched its Heritage range to celebrate its newly renovated Rome store. The one-of-a-kind collection pays tribute to the iconic Italian fashion house’s rich history.

Everything old is new again in this limited edition line. Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini has resurrected several classic handbag models and a 1950s vintage print called Rinascimento. This elegant Renaissance-inspired design contrasts with the purses’ wine-colored crocodile leather trim.

“This classic print perfectly matches the essence of the city,” said Frida Giannini. “Both are rich in tradition, yet full of modern spirit.”

If the floral look isn’t for you, don’t despair. Other purses in the Heritage range are made entirely of exotic leathers, including python, ostrich, and crocodile.

There are five luxury styles in the Heritage collection, including The Jackie and The Bamboo. These beautiful purses are only available at Rome’s revamped Via Condotti store and the new Fifth Avenue store in New York.
