The You Can’t Fake Fashion campaign spearheaded by eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America was such a success last year, the organizations are doing it all again.

This time the collection has grown from 50 to 75 different designer created totes all bearing the You Can’t Fake Fashion slogan. Betsey Johnson, Ralph Lauren, The Row, Tory Burch, and CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg are amongst the big names contributing designs to this year’s drive. A selection of the customized totes made their debut at New York Fashion Week.

There are also four different styles of standard totes for anyone who can’t quite afford the designer originals. The standard totes cost just $45, while the customized designer versions are $200. That’s a lot to spend on a canvas tote, but it may be the closest some recessionistas get to owning a piece of their favorite fashion house. And besides, all money raised will help the CFDA Foundation fight counterfeiting, so perhaps we should just look at our purchases as charitable donations!

The new You Can’t Fake Fashion range hits eBay’s Fashion Vault on March 20. If last year is any indication these bags will sell out, so I’d log on quickly if you hope to secure one!

Vieta has fun with some synthetic snake with the Neisha Clutch.

Fashion snobs may long for genuine python, but the Neisha’s material isn’t a bad snake imitator. While its colors aren’t authentic there’s a charm to the palettes, especially in this Santa Fe inspired brown and blue skin. The soft fabric is cinched in at the center by a large leatherette band, which creates a kind of bow silhouette.

The shape is ergonomic, and it’s a good thing too as Vieta has neglected to offer a shoulder strap. On a more expensive purse that would be a major misstep, but for just $90 I don’t mind so much.

The Neisha probably deserves a strap considering its substantial stature. If you utilize all that space it could easily become unmanageable, and it’ll lose that sweet bow shape. But you should be able to sneak in a few extra items without too much trouble.

The Neisha’s playful colors and substantial size help is easily make the transition from an afternoon coffee date to happy hour with the girls. That versatility ensures we’ll get see value for our money.

Versace makes a very strong style statement with this Metallic Leather Shoulder Bag. But do you like what it’s saying?

I can safely say this is a bag that you’ll either love or hate. It’s brash, as fuchsia bags always are. The metallic treatment makes it even bolder. Once you’re using glitzy pink leather there’s no going back. So why not make it even gaudier by adding some embossing, a smattering of studs, and a chunky chain?

I’m not a fan of this shoulder bag’s ostentatious look, but I can appreciate some of its features. Versace’s packaged this bag with a chunky whipstitched handle and a longer and just as chunky chain.

I can also appreciate its petite size. Any larger and it would have been even more obnoxious, if you can imagine that.

I’ve run out of compliments for this bag, and frankly I’ve given it more than it deserves. A slavish Versace devotee may happily spend $1625 on this bag, but I can think of many better ways to drop that kind of cash.

Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) graduate Calvin Klein has given back to the place where he honed his craft. The handbag designer donated one million dollars to the school via his Calvin Klein Family Foundation, and another million dollars through Calvin Klein, Inc.

The generous sum should make this year’s spring runway show a lavish affair. The annual event, which will be held this year in May 2, showcases the apparel and accessories created by students preparing to graduate with their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design.

FIT boasts several high profile graduates, including Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Nina Garcia, and Ralph Pucci.

Klein said he was moved to donate “to ensure that the FIT fashion show will continue to be the students’ showcase to our industry without compromise.

“I am very proud that Calvin Klein, Inc. has joined my family foundation in this effort,” he added.

Surely a cash boost of this size will guarantee the catwalk show continues to thrive!

I’m always impressed when designers inject their profits back into their community. To hear of Calvin Klein supporting an institution that has been so integral to his success seems especially fitting. What do you think of his generous donation?

While I’m not sure I’d take it along to watch my favorite band, this Concert Clutch from Vera Bradley is a fun way to carry the basics.

In terms of style, this is a bit of a step backwards for the brand. Lately I’ve been admiring the label’s uncharacteristically fashion forward designs, but this represents a return to its roots.

That’s not altogether a bad thing though. The happy snails printed fabric is very cute, and the coral colored wrist loop and accent give the Concert Clutch a flirty pop. I wonder why Vera Bradley didn’t pick up one of the shades we saw on the material though. Using red or yellow would have been just as much fun and given the purse a more unified look.

We can always count on practicality from a Vera Bradley bag, and this one’s no different. At this size we could probably slip a wallet inside, but with eight card slots and a coin pouch we don’t need to. That leaves more space for all those other important items.

I’m not a huge fan of wrist straps, so I’m thrilled to see this clutch also comes with a cross-body strap. It’s not one of those uncomfortable chains either; it’s made from more of that bright coral synthetic.

This Concert Clutch is far from perfect but at $27 it really doesn’t have to be. That amount of money rarely buys such practicality!

Selma Blair is the latest celebrity to turn fashion designer. The actress is starting small, with just four styles available in her new SB by Selma Blair range.

While fans may crave more variety, I think it’s smart for new designers to avoid spreading themselves thinly. It’s much better to nail a few designs rather than produce many lackluster creations.

Blair says her leather and suede satchels have classic styling, and you don’t need the actress’ bulging bank account to own one.

“They can be worn for years, so it’s worth the few hundred bucks!” she proudly told Us Weekly.

In fact, some of the designs cost even less than that, with prices starting at $160.

Animal activists may not approve of Blair’s decision to use real leather and suede, but she’s doing her best to appease them with a charitable donation. A portion of all proceeds from SB by Selma Blair bag sales will benefit the Lange Foundation. This no-kill animal shelter is committed to saving a range of abandoned and homeless pets in Blair’s hometown of Los Angeles.

Blair might just be super woman, as she’s juggling her new job as handbag designer with a leading role in Charlie Sheen’s new sitcom Anger Management and the demands of motherhood. Who says women can’t do it all?

VBH has our after five accessory needs sorted with this PM Clutch.

By using classic black python to create a minimalist design, VBH has ensured the PM is a purse that will never look out of place. Animal lovers may not approve of the use of authentic python skin, but it really does look stunning. Seeing it used so well makes it a little easier to put aside ethical reservations.

The pop of silver hardware brings some extra edge to the design, and some versatility. They give the purse a rock star appeal that would look perfect with a pair of skinny jeans. That rebellious attitude makes it ideal for toting to a dingy club, but it also helps the PM work in the AM with the right outfit.

The PM is mid-sized by clutch standards. It’s not likely to hold everything you usually take out with you, but it might hold daytime essentials if you know how to pack them right. VBH has chosen to hide its name plaque inside, an inspired touch which proves authenticity without muddying the design. A limited edition number is also printed inside for that extra bit of exclusivity.

You’ll want versatility from this purse, because at $1750 it ain’t cheap. However it’s also not overpriced for a real python accessory, especially one that’s a limited edition line.

Vanessa Bruno plays it safe with this Lune Satchel.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a traditional path. White leather always makes an impression, at least when it’s brand new and free from stains, and a simple shape maximizes storage space. It’s just that there’s not too much to really get excited about.

The Lune is a satchel that encourages us to adjust our expectations. It’s not meant to wow us, but it will serve us well. It’s enormous, so it could easily work as a weekender, or an everyday bag for girls who like to carry a little bit extra with them. A space so large could probably do with more than the usual trio of interior pockets, but what’s here is adequate. The handles could also stand to be a shade longer, but most girls will be able to fit them snugly over their shoulder.

I think the $982 Vanessa Bruno charges is a bit high for a bag that doesn’t make a strong style statement, but at least that money should buy several seasons of wear.

Actor Rick Yune is embroiled in a designer handbag sale scandal. The Fast and The Furious star is being sued by a British couple who says he scammed them out of more than $290, 000.

The Londoners say Yune offered to sell them ten authentic Hermes Birkin bags late last year. According to the lawsuit they sent Yune a $198, 000 deposit for the first eight bags, and intended to send an addition $95, 000 for the final two purses on their delivery.

The couple say they didn’t receive the bags while Yune claims they were delivered to one of the lovebirds’ employees. He’s suggested that perhaps that staff member pocketed the precious purses, and is refusing to reimburse the Brits their cash.

A representative for the actor says “he is one of the most honest people out there. It’s a shame someone is trying to tarnish his name and he has fallen victim to a scam.“

The matter is now in the hands of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, who’ll decide whether the couple is entitled to their money, and likely damages, or whether Yune’s story holds weight. It seems a case of he said, she said at the moment, so it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Valentino takes a break from its feminine flower covered, bow accented bags to create an accessory with a lot more VaVaVoom!

I always enjoyed Valentino’s girly creations, but I’m thrilled for the change of pace. This bag is all rock and roll, from its lipstick red leather body to its chunky pyramid studs. Studs can look a bit passé, but by using just a few of them Valentino’s ensured this purse still seems contemporary. From a designer of this caliber, we’d expect nothing less!

It’s important to note that this is a mini bag. While it packs a punch, storage space is scant. With a pair of slit compartments on hand you can probably leave the wallet at home though, leaving room for other vital items like a cell phone and keys.

If it were made by any other designer I’m sure I’d suggest $1695 is too much to pay for a purse this small. But this is Valentino, and an excellent example of the label’s craftsmanship. You don’t get a lot of bag for your dollar, but if you can swing it I’m sure you won’t regret indulging in this sassy purse!
