Chloe’s spring line of bags has been really on point this year. I am loving their choice of materials, and the smooth 70s vibe combined with their own trademark super chic aesthetic is really doing it for me.

This Elise bag, for one, might be a contender for the “It” bag of the season if it wasn’t so unorthodoxly designed. I am almost never a fan of squarish bags, but with the twisted chain strap and flap front, this one is just so much fun that I like it despite its boxy shape. And all that smooth surface area is the perfect showcase for the glossy purple patent leather, which is rich and lustrous.

But it’s the details of this bag that really make it work. I don’t want to keep repeating myself, but would you get a load of that chain strap? It looks posh and bohemian at once, and the way it is threaded through the top of the bag is absolutely ingenious. I only hope it’s also sturdy! The enormous front closure is absolutely gorgeous, and kind of resembles those owl necklaces that are so popular right now.

This is the kind of take everywhere accessory that wardrobes are built around, and I expect to see a lot of knockoffs in the discount stores by mid summer. I only hope someone makes a great one, because at $1,335, the Elise is out of my price range, although it is within reason for a piece from a high end designer collection.

When you think of bag snatchers you imagine loutish young thugs, not birds of prey! But one bald eagle got on the wrong side of the law in Austria today when it pilfered a woman’s purse!

The tamed bird swooped down and snatched the brown handbag from the clutches of its 69-year-old owner, landed nearby, and began to rummage through it for food.

“She got the shock of her life,” Lambert Autengruber, a police officer in the Austrian town of Kundl, said. I can only imagine!

Apparently the bird was stalked by buzzards on a hunting expedition days earlier, and had not returned to its master. The feathered thief mistook the ladies purse for the bag her owner keeps stocked with tasty treats.

The eagle was returned to her falconer, but not before it crashed into a white van similar to the one her master drives. It sounds like bad luck follows that bird!

An added bonus of this bag is not just the fact it is eco-friendly, but that it is practical. We all know that giving to charity in exchange for an item can be great, but it’s even better if you get a good item that you can keep reusing! With good length leather straps and applique artwork, it’s stylish and practical.

I’m not sure I can find any negative points to consider for this bag – the moral bonuses of helping the world make me feel bad about pointing out flaws! And, to be honest, it’s a simple bag, and does what it says!

As far as oversized bows go, I’m generally running the other direction. It’s not that I dislike bow details, but I do tend to steer clear when the detail is taking over like on this Moschino Cheap and Chic Giada Bag.

Although it’s hard to look past the giant Minnie Mouse bow on the beige-colored Giada, a closer look will reveal other appealing details. For one, the otherwise ordinary color is enhanced by the patent sheen that makes it almost look more copper than beige. That carefully coated leather is also a slightly textured, high quality material one would expect from Moschino. Buckled details on the handles are a nice addition, too.

Oddly enough, the three different color options available for the Giada handbag offer three completely different bag styles. The beige brown is shown here whereas the other versions have no bow feature on them: the black with zippered details and the red with a buckled front flap instead. It’s strange that they’re all considered the Moschino Cheap and Chic Giada bag when their only common theme is the patent sheen on the leather. However, it is always nice to have options.

Specifically regarding the beige, bow-covered version, this purse has a nice amount of storage with a center zippered compartment splitting the interior and pockets on each side. As usual, I find the term “chic” to be the only word in the brand’s name that I deem fitting seeing as how most shoppers would consider $1,155 nowhere close to “cheap”. However, Moschino has a reputation for their designer quality handbags, and the Giada is nothing less than what you’d expect from them.

When luxury brand-owning company PPR is involved with a film, there are sure to be some fashion goodies released along side the project.

The company, which owns major designer brands like Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga, is sponsoring the soon-to-be-released movie Home. The film highlights environmental concerns around the world and attempts to show links that connect them.

To coincide with the film’s topic, PPR-owned Yves Saint Laurent has created a collection of eco-friendly organic cotton t-shirts and tote bags to sold in select boutiques near the movie’s release. One t-shirt reads “Save the Planet; Save Yourself”. It’s not YSL’s typical item, but it does complement the theme of the movie.

Considering the broad scope of brands that PPR owns, I’m sure we can expect to see more fashion designers releasing limited edition items in correlation with the film. Home is scheduled to make its worldwide debut this year on June 5.

Sometimes less is more. Other times, however, more is definitely … well … more!

This handbag is quite an attention seeker; trimmed in bling-like glass gems and Swarovski crystals, it stands out from the crowd in a glittering, dazzling way. In the same vein, it doesn’t even try to be practical. This is a bag that lives only to be clutched in your powdered palm by your manicured fingers, and paraded down red carpets. The idea that you may need to fit more than your diamond encrusted mini-cell phone and some business cards in it doubtless never crossed the designer’s mind.

And so it shouldn’t have! If you want space and practicality, I advise you see some of the other reviews on this blog. There are plenty of totes and hold-alls that will do the job. If, however, you want bright colorful sparkles and the most trendy of clutch shapes, then this little fella is more your thing.

I do feel it’s a shame that this bag doesn’t come with a crystal studded chain or silver strap. It exists only as a clutch, and cannot be converted to any other handbag style. Of course, you only have to carry it the length of the dancefloor, and it’s not going to be heavy. Just make sure security is heavy where you are, as this isn’t the sort of bag you can leave on the table whilst you have a quick boogie.

The verdict? This isn’t subtle. In fact, it isn’t a lot of things. What it is it is very good at. It sets out with one glorious dramatic aim, and achieves it well. Just don’t choose it if you want to smuggle in a hip flask, or transport heavy goods!

I wouldn’t exactly call Kathy Van Zeeland one of my favorite designers. I actually prefer the handbag line of her spouse, otherwise known as B. Makowsky. However, I couldn’t help but admit that this Stud Muffin bag caught my eye with its deceptively simple look and neutral colors.

Odd name aside, the Stud Muffin Colorblock A-Line Tote looks like an ideal purse to pair with warm weather fashion for the upcoming months. It actually comes in a black and white version as well, but that one looks a little too 80s glam for me. This tan, white, and creamy yellow option is much subtler.

I could do without the oversized silver hardware, but that’s somewhat to be expected for a Kathy Van Zeeland number. Without the bold details, the Stud Muffin could have a casual nautical vibe. The logo-engraved hardware featuring the brand’s signature crown makes it a little more snazzy than that, appealing to a different crowd of shoppers.

The a-line shape is attractive, and the storage that it allows doesn’t disappoint. Something about two exterior side pockets always makes me think of a baby bag, but they’re undeniably practical, especially here with the added zippered pocket to boot. The manmade material keeps the price of the Kathy Van Zeeland Stud Muffin Tote just under $100.
