Hobos are a tricky thing. For them to work, they need to have a high degree of sophistication to balance out the natural slouchiness of their shape, or they just look messy. Louboutin solves that problem on the Sylvia by making it out of super luxe Saba snakeskin. The material is gorgeous and the grey-green color is understated and chic. 

The silver toned wrapped leather handle is a great, casual touch on the Sylvia. The metallic handle and hardware really bring out the color of the bag, and the trademark stiletto zipper pull is covetable all on its own. 

Given the exotic quality and elegant details on this hobo, it might just convert a few more conservative women away from more structured styles. Keep in mind that this level of design and luxury comes with a price tag, and it isn’t a small one. What a difference a shade makes. The Jaunty Shoulder Bag comes in just three tones, but each comes with its own unique personality.

This delicious camel color is known as natural. It gives this suede shoulder bag a Western feel, without it looking too kitsch. The brass metal details and polished studs seem to blend into this neutral shade, ensuring the details never overwhelm.

The rumors were right: Peter Copping has jumped ship from Louis Vuitton to step into Olivier Theysken’s very large shoes. The designer has been formerly named the new creative director of Nina Ricci.

Peter is currently working on a resort collection for the fashion label which we’ll see in June. But we won’t see his work on the runway until next March. This will give Peter enough time to immerse himself in the fashion house before making a splash at Paris Fashion Week.

Early whisperings wonder how Peter can ever measure up to the acclaim Olivier achieved. His relationship with Nina Ricci wasn’t always smooth, and commercial success didn’t always match the critical acclaim. But there was no ignoring an Olivier Theyskens’ line. Yet the bigwigs at the Puig Fashion Group, which owns Nina Ricci, are standing by their man.

“I think Peter’s very tuned into the consumer [who is] a very real woman,” Puig head Mario Grauso said.

Apparently Peter plans to focus on the tailoring Nina Ricci is known for, and to expand the brand’s handbag lines. Apparently Nina Ricci has poached a few of Peter’s ex-Louis Vuitton colleagues to help him achieve this goal. If nothing else, that’s great news for bag lovers!

British designer Radley tends to creates cute and quirky bags like the Foot Loose and Brighton. But every now and again they play it straight and show us they can produce a purse as chic and subtle as any luxury line.

Take the Lyric here. Its soft textured leather and sculpted round shape wouldn’t look out of place on Rodeo Drive. But don’t think Radley has lost its individuality. We see that on the criss-cross stitching around the top flap and handles. It’s a subtle embellishment, but one which reminds us of the originality Radley is famous for.

If this Lyric seems a little large for you, it is available in a medium version. But be warned; the body isn’t the only thing that shrinks. The smaller purse also has much shorter straps, which will frustrate girls that favor over-the-shoulder toting.

I’m not one of those girls that just goes totally nuts when they see the Fendi logo. In fact, I have been known to disregard the line entirely because it tends to be a little too flashy for my personal taste. But sometimes they come up with something that really intrigues me, and this is one of those times.

This crinkled patent Peek-A-Boo bag is so understated and ladylike that I almost can’t believe it’s Fendi. I mean, where are all the bells and whistles? There’s not even any snakeskin on this bag! The truth is that this bag doesn’t need anything extra to make it work. It has an old fashioned, sophisticated charm that defies trends.

The simple shape of the bag combined with the sleek patent material and the pronounced seams creates a sharply tailored look that will work for a lot of women. For edgier fashionistas, the Peek-A-Boo would make a great bag for the office, but I think a lot of women will find that this is a highly versatile, high quality accessory that can coordinate with a lot of looks. 

The details on this bag are so luxurious and plentiful that it’s hard to know where to begin. The inside of the Peek-A-Boo is made of a fabulous laser cut suede that will make you want to reach into your purse at every possible opportunity. The gold metal hardware is understated and beautiful. And the interior compartment of the bag is ingeniously divided into two sections, which each have pockets of their own.

Well, clearly, I could go on, but I won’t. I really can’t find anything wrong with this bag, except that at $2090, I can’t really afford it!

It is easy to think that handbags are just for women, and perhaps once upon a time they were. In today’s modern society, however, there is something for everyone: fashionable luggage, handy man-bags and more. In the same vein, bags for kids are becoming hot property.

1. Size – how many crayons will it hold? At 14 inches wide, this isn’t a tiny little bag. Kids can carry around gym clothes, crayons, paper and their favorite picture book without any trouble at all. Pack them up and let them free!
2. Colour – there isn’t much pink in this kids purse, so glittery gals and self-made princesses will probably reject it in favor of girlier options. Girls who like their traditional Disney, however, will no doubt find this a more acceptable and subtle option for recess.
3. Carrying – parents will no doubt be lumbered with carrying this at the end of a long summer day. We can hope that its fashionable appeal will extend the length of time a kid can be bothered to drag it around!

So here we have it: a children’s bowler with retro styling and Disney-style to boot! Perfect for sleepovers and parties, this will hopefully do the job.

Happy Earth Day! That’s right, I’ll take any excuse to shop for a new bag, and Earth Day is today’s.

Reusable totes are one of the easiest, trendiest and most fashionable ways to help the planet. This Envirosax Organic Bamboo Bag is even eco-friendly in more ways than one.

It’s reusable. Duh. It’s also made from bamboo and linen. Bamboo is 100% sustainable, biodegradable and grown without “assistance” like fertilizers or pesticides, while linen is a great choice for vegans. It is more sustainable and lower-impact than leather as well.

The bag comes with its own little pouch, great for storing in your glove compartment or tote, so you’re never caught needing to sheepishly accept a plastic bag at the grocery store. It’s supposed to roll up to the size of a piece of sushi! Which is impressive. But, my experience is that you can never get reusable totes rolled up as small as they come from the manufacturer. You’ll surely be able to assign it a small space in your handbag, though.

The bag can safely hold up to 22 lbs so you can certainly throw that gallon of milk in. It is questionable how often you could fit 22 lbs of stuff into an 18 x 16 inch bag, however. I do think the biggest drawback to these is the size. On a typical trip to the mall you might fill it up in the first store.

But to keep on hand for everyday use, this seems like a great choice.

Tignanello usually does a great job at creating interesting color combinations without becoming gaudy or overdone. For example, the Touchable and On the Go Totes have just the right amount of contrast resulting in chic not flashy.

The Modern Mix Tote by Tignanello once again accomplishes that task beautifully. I absolutely adore the sort of watermelon color combo of pink and green, shown here. Any other shades of the colors might have looked tacky, but the olive-y green and almost bubble gum pink are flawless together.

It’s unexpected but somehow completely classic, which I’ve come to expect from the brand. To set off the bright spring tones, the main body of the bag is made from white pebbled leather. It works like a neutral background to showcase the pretty trim.

I realize that some people won’t love these shades as much as I do, and Tignanello understand that, too, since they also offer the Modern Mix Dome Tote in several other color combinations. The contrasting purse comes in black and white, black and cream, dark multi-colored browns with yellow, and tan browns with white. I’m not usually a fan of large, chunky hardware. However, the square cut-out handle anchors on this tote are just the right scale here. If you look closely, you’ll notice an understated logo engraving on each piece.

The last feature of the Modern Mix Dome Tote that I find the most appealing is the long length of the double handles. It can be so frustrating to have the top of a tote rubbing your arm as you carry it and making it awkward to access the inside. These straps have plenty of swing room to eliminate those problems.

Switched on fashionistas can now shop for brand new accessories from their iPhone. It’s all thanks to iBags and iShoes, some sexy new applications launched by the Mobile App Studio yesterday.

“There are over 35,000 apps available now on the Apple App Store, but one thing we’ve noticed is that very few of these apps are targeting women,” said Carleen Ghio, co-founder of the Mobile App Studio. “As the iPhone market continues to expand, we wanted to ensure that fashion and shopping-related apps aimed at the female market are available on the Apple App Store to interest new users.“

Using the new applications, iPhone users can browse shoes and handbags from their phone. The can narrow the search to only include favorite brands or styles. Browers can add items that catch their eye to their favorites list, which can then be e-mailed to themselves, or friends looking for the perfect birthday gift! There’s also an offline mode which allows users to download their favorite products to drool over later.

With its sexy slim lines and crocodile embossed finish, the Anya clutch by Oroton is dressed to impressed.

The crocodile stamped leather probably won’t fool many fashion fans, but it’s still beautiful in its own right. The glazed finished gives the scales a glossy sheen which helps the Anya make the transition from day to night. The curved front flap features a polished silver “O” badge which gently reminds us of the Oroton brand while hiding the stud fastener.

It’s called a clutch, but the interior more closely resembles a wallet. If you want to carry keys and gloss, you may be disappointed. However what the Anya lacks in space, it makes up for with organizational features. There are nine card slots, although as one is clear it could easily double as a photo slip. The larger compartments still don’t offer a lot of storage space, but they’re a great place for storing notes and receipts. The zip-around coin compartment in the back is tailor made for securely storing loose change.

The Anya is a different sort of clutch: one that knows that money matters and thinks of it ahead of other evening essentials. Because of that, I probably wouldn’t use this as my only night-time accessory. But I’d love to stash it in my tote!
