Spiegel Glossy Clutch | Trendy Affordable 80s Patent Purse

Posted on: Jun 29

Are you looking for an on-trend party purse at an affordable price? Leave it to Spiegel to craft just an accessory with its Glossy Clutch.

The glossy finish isn’t real patent leather, but for this price you wouldn’t expect such luxury. Yet it has enough shine to fool a casual observer, making it well worth the compromise. The shape is eye-catching and practical, with a convenient handle built into the design. Those curves are oh-so sexy, and the stitched details divine.

The long design affords you more space than the average clutch, but with such a slender profile I still wouldn’t call it oversized. Yet I’m impressed by the zip and sleeve pockets you’ll find, and the zippered closure for an added dose of security. It’s perfect for ensuring your party essentials stay put while you’re busting moves on the dance floor.

This deep teal sits perfectly with the current 1980s trend, but if you’re looking for a more timeless option the Glossy Clutch is also available in black. With a retail price of just $29, I’m tempted to snatch both!

Botkier Claudia Satchel | Simple Designer Bag with Lattice Detail and Studs

Posted on: Jun 28

At first glance, I wasn’t sure how much I really liked this Botkier handbag. I’m generally a fan of the label’s designs, but this one just seemed kind of “plain Jane” when I first took a peek at it.

Just look a little closer at it, though, to see some interesting features that cause it to earn its keep in the designer world. What first appears to be a simple slouchy tote becomes something a bit more appealing. My favorite detail, and the one that really stands out the most, is the lattice-shaped insert that seem to come out of the handle anchors.

Latticed leather strips sounds so ordinary for Botkier, a brand that usually has a contemporary or trendy twist on their bags. I’m sure that’s what the designers were thinking when they scattered some metal studs throughout the feature. It doesn’t really add an edgy vibe, as so often studs do, but rather draws the eye to the detail and makes it more modern.

Though I like the effort at combining slouchy and structured, I’m not a huge fan of the floppy top of the satchel that seems to have no amount of support. I much prefer this style with the optional longer, and ultimately more supportive, shoulder strap. It sure beats carrying around a tote this size in your hands.

More Features of the Claudia Satchel

  • Measures 16 x 11.5 x 6.5 inches
  • Double handles with 3 inch drop
  • Zip top closure
  • Detachable shoulder strap

Jo Wood Upset about Ronnie Wood’s Plans to Launch Fashion Line | Estranged Spouse Claims First Rights to Idea

Posted on: Jun 28

It turns out that not everyone is excited about Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood teaming up with Liberty of London for a fashion collaboration expected to include clothing and handbags.

The musician’s recently estranged wife Jo Wood is kicking up a fuss about the news. The former model claims that she has long wanted to start her own line inspired on Ronnie’s concert attire, to which she claims design rights.

A source told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: “Jo was the one who designed Ronnie’s stage outfits. She was the creative brain behind that. I’m not sure Ronnie will be that au fait with the intricacies of fabrics and seams. It is a bit of a snub to Jo, especially as she has been wanting to launch her own range for some time – and Ronnie knows it.”

It all sounds a bit petty to me, really. I don’t know whether or not Ronnie intended to beat Jo to the punch for spite, especially considering the fact that Liberty of London supposedly came up with the idea of collaborating after being inspired by the guitarist’s works of art.

Jo’s annoyance doesn’t really change much, though. Ronnie Wood’s line should be coming out at Liberty of London this fall regardless of the opinions of his almost-ex.

Hype Alexis Clutch | Ruffled Metallic Leather Handbag

Posted on: Jun 28

Every so often, it’s nice to have a handbag that doesn’t make you choose between styles. Sometimes you just want to look sweet, and sometimes you’ve got to have a contemporary edge. With this Hype clutch, you can have a little of both worlds without sacrificing cohesiveness.

The Alexis, in all its ruffled glory, is available as a tote or cross-body bag. However, the clutch is the cutest, in my opinion, and the one that displays the style’s funky combination.

I’m loving the front flap with a gentle double curve that accentuates the two-tiered ruffled feature. Don’t think it’s all femininity, though. The Alexis has an edgy, modern side to it, mostly due to the asymmetry on the flap.

The metallic sheen adds to the cool contemporary look. I wouldn’t call it gold, but I wouldn’t deem it silver either. With its somewhere-in-between color, this version of the Alexis clutch will go so well with so many different outfits. Versatility is nearly always a top priority for my own wardrobe, which makes this Hype bag’s ability to convert from clutch to shoulder bag via detachable strap yet another reason it’s easily worth the price of $175.

More Features of the Alexis Clutch

  • Measures 13 x 8 x 5 inches
  • Optional strap with 8 inch drop
  • Front flap with magnetic closure

Little Boots Celebrates Success with Alexander McQueen Handbag

Posted on: Jun 28

Electro pop darling Little Boots is enjoying the fruits of fame with a little retail therapy. What was her first big purchase? Why an Alexander McQueen handbag of course!

I paid full price!” the British singer admitted to Holy Moly. “When I moved here I considered any item over £100 ridiculously expensive. It’s the most I’ve ever spent on one thing, especially something so silly as a handbag, but it makes you feel a million dollars. If someone had told you that a handbag could make you feel that good in so many situations I would have bought one years ago. It’s worth every penny.”

One situation where a stylish purse comes in handy is those dreadful parties “full of twats.” Little Boots said she went to such a soiree a few months ago, and relied on her handbag to get her through the ordeal.

I was like oh my god, hang on; I’ve got the best handbag in here! You just feel better.”

Don’t we know it!

Jessica Bennett Pink Patent Clutch | Simple Sexy Dinner Party Purse

Posted on: Jun 28

Wow, what a color. As far as I am aware, hot pink never really goes out of fashion, although it does have its ups and downs. With beautiful rich color like this Jessica Bennett purse, however, I don’t think you can go far wrong!

The patent leather makes this simple clutch all the more attractive. High sheen, high impact fashion. The square shape with sexy curved corners lets this flirtatious handbag easily transform into cute and casual day wear, whilst the graphic feature clasp means it has good enough looks for parties. Particularly dinner parties, where I think this purse and some hot pink heels would really come into their own.

The interior of this patent clutch is great. Whilst you don’t have the roomy space of a normal handbag, this purse functions more like a sexy wallet. Essentially, it breaks into two halves each containing pockets; very different and stylish!

This is a great option if you need a useful purse that both has that something special and easy wearing style. With hot pink outer and contrasting lemony gold inner, your are bound to look great with this piece of totty on your arm.

  • Retro style gold hardware
  • Satin style lining

Sonia Kashuk Weekender Cosmetic Bag | Affordable Paisley Print Travel Makeup Handbag

Posted on: Jun 28

Sonia Kashuk’s signature feminine style is on show again with this bold weekender cosmetic bag. But I worry that this time, the designer’s gone too far.

The predominant pink and white paisley design is lovely, but it clashes with the stripes and spots that dot the top of the weekender, and all that shiny silver trim. All those patterns and prints compete, creating a look that’s loud and a little confusing. If Sonia Kashuk had only exercised a little restraint the result would have been far more pleasing.

While the design lets it down, this weekender shouldn’t be dismissed so quickly if you’re a regular traveler. Those front pockets are just a hint of the bag’s organizational capacity. There’s much more inside, with plenty of compartments to separate your cosmetics and toiletries. There’s plenty of space for storing everything you need on a weekend away, but the soft-sided construction will help out girls who feel the need to take everything they own. Accidental spills are no stress either. The polyester finish simply wipes clean with a damp cloth.

So perhaps this Sonia Kashuk is a purse that should be appreciated for its inner beauty, rather than its outer failings. For just $24.99, I’m sure this is one bag you could learn to love.

  • Two-way zip closure
  • Measures 13 x 3.5 x 8.5 inches

Sneak Peek of Newest Louis Vuitton Ads Featuring Madonna | Signature Logos and Fishnets Abound

Posted on: Jun 27

Well, it’s not the official release yet, but here’s a possible first look at the upcoming Louis Vuitton ads with international pop star Madonna.

Though boy toy Jesus Luz is nowhere in sight, as rumors had previously suggested, we’ve still yet to see the rest of the photos from the campaign. Instead, here we have nearly half of the ad covered in an enormous Louis Vuitton logo satchel.

The large handbag is nearly outshined by Madonna’s impossibly incandescent skin, which I can only assume is the result of creative lighting or clever photo editing. The singer actually looks quite calm and peaceful, though. Perhaps she’s meditating or just obeying creative direction to act like a porcelain doll. I’m not sure.

We even get another look at the infamous LV bunny ears and fingerless fishnet gloves, which she modeled recently at the Met Ball. I’m not digging the ears much, but I could definitely go for the tote. At least, it leaves me itching to see more from the campaign.

Kate Spade Tarrytown Mini Maeda Satchel | Classic Handbag in Yellow Leather

Posted on: Jun 27

If your fashion sense is more classic than cutting edge, you’re probably already a fan of Kate Spade’s all-American designs. Her chic style is definitely simple but sometimes with a twist in the details.

For example this Mini Maeda is very traditional, but the sunny marigold yellow makes it pop. The other two color options available, orange-ish red and peacock blue, are hardly for the wallflowers either. Leave it to Kate Spade to limit your options to those bright hues.

As you’d expect from a designer handbag, the details here are high quality and worth noticing. The boarskin leather on this satchel has a slight texture, though it’s hard to notice when your eye is mostly drawn to to the color. The contrast stitching, which runs along the seams, is a nice addition as well.

This satchel from the Tarrytown collection is a mini, so it’s not huge. However, with a front exterior pocket and an interior zippered pocket, you won’t find yourself without storage. The Mini Maeda retails for $325.

More Features of the Tarrytown Mini Maeda Satchel

  • Gold hardware with engraved logo
  • Zipper closure
  • Double handles

Christian Audigier Graphic Bowling Bag | Dramatic Studded Leather Black and Silver Hold-all

Posted on: Jun 27

As you all well know, handbags can sometimes by very expensive. Sometimes they can be very very expensive, but those are reaching prices us mere mortals can only dream of. Anyway, there are plenty of medium range handbags that still involve a certain tightening of the purse strings, no pun intended!

This studded bowling bag is one of those purses, clocking in at a heavyweight $180 – $300. Not cheap by any means. However, I must admit that whilst sometimes I understand the reasoning behind sky-high prices, with bags like this I simply don’t!

It isn’t that the separate features of the hold-all aren’t worth the money. After all, the faux-leather is soft and luxurious, and the shape is not only practical but highly fashionable. Perfect for holding all (and I mean all) your worldly possessions that are left over after raising the cash!

The studding too is very in vogue, working well with the silver leather trim. In the same vein, the contrasting gold metallic logo print works brilliantly with the deep black background leather and gold zips. Unfortunately, combined they all just seem too much. It is positively overflowing with features! In addition, you would expect real leather on a handbag of this price.

A great and useful bag if you are a bold and brazen character; just don’t expect this Christian Audigier bowling bag to be subtle!

More Features of this Graphic Logo Bowling Bag

  • Available in black or white
  • Contrasting faux leather trim
  • Light colored interior
  • Comes with a matching cash purse
