Back to school time is almost upon us. That might be enough to elicit groans from teens, but a cute messenger like this Harajuku Lovers bag should make the transition a little easier.

The Panda-Monium print is so adorable, it should put a smile on any dial. It’s far too busy to work on a high-end fashion bag, but it’s perfectly placed here. The aqua background provides a colorful contrast to the black and white print. But I could have done without the Harajuku Lover cherry charms, which seem to overcomplicate the design. If you are also immune to their cutesy appeal, they’re easy enough to remove.

But a messenger can’t work on looks alone. Thankfully this one’s got enough functional features to suit any teen. The waterproof lining ensures that the bag stands up to accidental water bottle leaks. The two pockets on the front close with Velcro patches. They’re complemented by a handy zippered compartment on the back. If this isn’t enough for you, there’s also another large zip pocket inside.

Daisy Cook is hitting back against the oversexualized tween marketplace with her cute and wholesome handbag collection. Rebelle Friendship Bags are designed to be split in two and shared with a BFF. It looks to encourage togetherness and generosity in girls aged eight to twelve.

“The whole brand is centered around rebelling against the bimbocracy,” Ms Cook explained. “We live in a culture, unfortunately, that is so driven by sexualized images [with which] girls very young are trying to identify themselves. There is just a sort of void in the market for wholesome products.”

The positive messages continue on the brand’s interactive website, which features a multiracial cast of characters aspiring to become professional athletes and fashion designers. There are no pole dancers or provocative pop stars amongst this lot!

The Rebelle Friendship Bags are currently available in local stores in the Port Jefferson area, but they’re about to reach a much larger audience. QVC will showcase the bags in October, while major department stores in the Midwest hope to have the handbags in stock for Christmas. If you can’t wait that long, they’re available directly from the Rebelle Friendship Bags website from $35.

Italian bellas can effortlessly add a little patriotic style to their ensembles with this cute Italian Flag bag from Fontanelli.

From a distance is seems like stripes of red, white, and green calfskin make up this Italian-inspired purse. But that’s not the half of it. Each strip of color is actually a different envelope pocket. They all work together to create the unified flag look, but you can use them separately to stay organized.

With three separate pouches, there’s really no need for any other pockets. Each compartment has its own secure zip, and lush suede lining. But I do wonder whether this purse will look as good once it’s full of your girly goodies. Ensure you don’t overstuff any compartment or strange lumps and bumps will show. The skinny strap also concerns me. It might be genuine leather, but it’s so thin that it may still snap if forced to take too much weight.

Practical reservations aside, this is an inspired purse like none I’ve seen before. And at just $195, we can all afford to embrace our Italian side. Bellissimo!

Aldo have done it again – this is an extraordinarily affordable tote in bright vibrant colors.

At just $19.98, this tote is beyond cheap. It’s a real steal! Now I have to try and do an honest review without getting overly caught up in the bargain basement price!

At first glance, this is a hold-all that knows how to have fun. Decorated in striped multi-toned synthetic leather, this is a summery eye-catching handbag. The zig zag pattern too is endearing and bold.

The visuals throughout are really attractive. The only color I am uncertain about is the baby blue – this doesn’t seem to fit with the otherwise primary color theme.

The tote is huge, so could easily double up as a beach bag. Stuff a towel in and a picnic and you will be set for a whole day out with minimal effort. Just bear in mind that whilst the chain handles are padded with matching fabric, they probably aren’t the strongest. As this bag is so big, you may need to avoid over-stuffing, especially with cheap fabric lining to take care off.

This is a cheap and cheerful tote with plenty of space.

Green is a great color to take you from summer to fall, and I really love the hue of this Rampage Glazed Leather Handbag.

The obvious practical advantage of this bag is how roomy it is. It manages to allow for a lot of stuff without being shapeless or too structured. The silhouette may be a little puffy or bulky for some, but for the girl who wants to carry around everything, it’s a great choice.

A removable shoulder strap makes it easier to tote, and you can keep everything organized with an exterior zipper pouch and multiple interior pockets.

Metal details, buckles, straps, fobs and chains mean the bag is heavy on hardware, and like most Rampage bags it’s definitely on the trendy side. It will serve you well now, but don’t expect to be toting it stylishly in a couple years.

This is also a youth-oriented bag, so I wouldn’t plan on taking it to too many board meetings, no matter how much it holds.

If you know B. Makowsky’s style fairly well, you could probably spot this one as one of the brands’ designs from a mile away. Though there’s nothing particularly stunning about it, the Kingston hobo has the label’s signature look written all over it.

Like most B. Makowsky handbags, the Kingston is crafted from high quality, buttery soft leather that you usually only get from purses that are well over the $100 mark. This one is no exception to that price generality either ringing in at just under $300.

One of the other features that stands out to me is the abundance of zippered details all over this handbag, thus earning the Multi Zip in its name. I really don’t know how practical a trio of vertical pockets on the front of a bag can be, to be quite honest. They would seem to me to be more of a nuisance to get things in and out of than a convenient feature. However, I’m sure many would appreciate any extra storage not to mention the edgy rocker vibe they add to the Kingston.

If the exterior storage isn’t enough for you, you’ll be glad to know that there are also a few pockets inside this hobo bag. The front flap, also bearing a zipper detail, contains a hidden magnetic closure to keep everything secure.

It may be fun and flowery, but this Isabella checkbook clutch from Fossil doesn’t forget functionality.

That gorgeous exterior is the first thing you’ll notice. Colorful fabric swatches are pieced together to create this striking abstract design. Moss green floral fabric sits alongside red and leather strips. There are so many different colors, shapes, and textures here. At the hands of a lesser designer, it could easily become a mess. But by keeping the shades subtle, the Isabella somehow works.

The front is lovely, but turn it over and you’ll be a little disappointed. That lush patchwork design isn’t continued. The plain brown leather may be high quality, but it looks a little bland in comparison. An embossed Fossil logo tries to jazz things up, and the zippered pocket is a nice practical touch, but I can’t help feeling a little let down.

The interior is made with serious shoppers in mind. There’s room for five credit cards and a drivers license in the top of the wallet, but that’s not all. Open up the zippered pouch to find space for 12 more cards. That should be enough to hold all your store loyalty cards and fantastic plastic! There’s also plenty of space in that pouch to securely hold your cash and receipts.

But for most girls, it’s the bottom line that really matters. There’s no point spotting a lovely wallet if you can’t afford to take it home. Thankfully at $58 retail, you can snag this and have some cash to spare for your next shopping spree.

This sassy little Lips clutch is from Beth Ditto’s collection for Evans. It seems the curvy Gossip frontwoman has taken her cues from Lulu Guinness with this playful little number.

Pouting red lips are Lulu Guinness’ trademark, but here they’re given a whimsical makeover. The traditional scarlet shade is swapped for striking white embellished with tiny black polka dots. A matching tie complements the lips, while both contrast with the black patent exterior. Of course, £25 doesn’t buy genuine patent leather, but this polyester equivalent has just as much gloss.

The lips are more than just a fashion feature though. They also add interest to the shaped cut-out handle. It’s a fun accent, if not an entirely practical one. The lip shape is likely to make this one even more awkward to handle than a typical oval or rectangle hole. But it does give the clutch a fun look, which may be worth the sacrifice.

This is a purse which screams retro, from the polished exterior to the trapezoidal shape. Pair it with a sexy black dress and bright red lipstick to make a real impression.
