Bollywood beauty Kareena Kapoor is one lucky lady. Her Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna co-star Salman Khan recently gave her a luxurious Dolce & Gabbana handbag!

The pair recently indulged in a little shopping during a break in filming in Australia. Kareena fell for the designer bag, and Salman was only too happy to oblige!

“Kareena would usually land up shopping in the evenings after the shoot in Australia. She would go alone. But on one occasion, Salman accompanied her too,” said a unit source.

“She instantly liked a Dolce and Gabbana bag, stepped in and bought it. When she was about to pay the storekeeper refused to take the money saying it had already been paid for. Kareena stood zapped and wondered who could be that generous soul. It was only later that she got to know that it was Salman who had paid.”

I’m impressed by Salman’s generosity, but I wonder whether Kareena’s long-term boyfriend Saif Ali Khan feels the same way!

It often feels like if you’ve seen one Burberry plaid purse, you’ve seen them all. I start to long for something different. Then I see Burberry stray from that classic formula, and I yearn for those slightly boring bags!

The designs may not be revolutionary, but Burberry does the preppy plaid thing well. When the British label decides to be daring, it invariably falls apart. If you needed further proof, just look at this Haymarket Woven Warrior bag.

Woven leathers and drawstrings are the domain of casual purses. Glitzy metallic gold always looks ready for disco night. Combine these extremes and you might hope for a bag that’s versatile enough to travel from day to night. But here the unexpected mix just results in a purse that doesn’t readily suit any situation, or it’s warrior name for that matter. Can woven fabric ever strike fear into the heart of any enemy?

The gold finish is just a little too brassy, and the trim too chunky. Drawstrings are always fiddly, especially when combined with a magnetic closure. The shoulder strap might be adjustable, but that matters little when the maximum drop is a measly six inches. I don’t mind the interior, with its practical canvas lining and zippered pocket, but I’m clutching at straws.

I’m sure this shoulder bag will appeal to someone who likes their accessories large and loud, but personally I can think of much better ways to spend $1795.

Here’s another installment from B. Makowsky’s collection of handbags named after famous cities around the world. There must be something about Havana and hobos, however, since both 7 For All Mankind and Hayden-Harnett have hobos by the same name.

There’s aren’t too many features that the other brands’ versions share with this Havana N/S hobo bag, though, beyond only slightly similar body styles. This option has a very distinct B. Makowsky flair to it that cannot be denied.

As I’d expect from the label, the hardware is bold and noticeable and the design details are numerous. It’s not quite as flamboyant as some of the brand’s other styles, but there’s a definite “notice me” stamp given to this purse. The already slouchy shape is emphasized by a front pocket with ruching all along the top edge, and strap details call even more attention to the front. Even the sides of the hobo are adorned with silver studs and rings. It’s a little strange how empty the back of the Havana is in comparison to the rest of the bag. Only a small coin pocket dresses up the back, which seems a little underwhelming.

The lipstick red color is certainly not for wallflowers, though, and it’s not your only option for standing out in a crowd with the Havana hobo. For an even bolder look, you might go for this B. Makowsky bag in metallic pewter or bronze instead. The style also comes in subtler colors like black and brown. This N/S style of the Havana handbag retails for $298.

I’m not really a fan of Juicy Couture. I just get tired of its overly-embellished aesthetic. But this bag is pretty dope, and basically a steal.

I’m actually really surprised by how pared down and minimal this bag is. It’s not really what I’ve come to expect from Juicy. The only sparkly dangly thing about it is the charm, and I bet you could pry it off if you hate it.

Otherwise, the bag is made of supple leather, with asymmetrical seam detail that makes it a little more interesting. The gold hardware is subtle and chic.

And, moreover, the Etiquette is basically the perfect size. Big enough for a paperback book (you know, or a Kindle), but too small for a laptop. And the price, at $300, is amazing. I’d totally snap this one up if I was in the market for a new everyday bag

Just in time for the back-to-school rush comes Bulga’s originally named Messenger Bag. Messengers are nothing new, but this one has few details sure to please style-conscious students.

The first thing you’ll notice is the fabric. Buttery soft leather is nothing new for Bulga, but it’s something a bit different for a messenger. It’s not as practical as the traditional cotton canvas, but boy is it pretty. If you want to keep it that way, make sure you’re careful when you sit it down because there are no protective feet.

There are organizing pockets inside and out, and plenty of space inside for your textbooks and stationery. But the real drawcards for me are those shoulder straps. This messenger is bound to get heavy once it’s loaded up for class, but these long straps are up to the task. With a drop of 20 inches, you can comfortably sling them over your shoulder or even wear the bag across your body.

Going back to school is never cheap, and the $310 price tag may be out of reach for many struggling students. But this messenger is reasonably priced in comparison to other Bulga bags.

Bottega Veneta is a brand which tends to take fashion seriously. But here with this ladybug shaped coin purse, the Italian label shows it has a lighter side.

The brand’s signature intrecciato woven leather is passed over in favor of soft brown deerskin. It may not be instantly recognizable, but this hide is ultra luxurious. The ladybug’s spots are stamped into the leather, while careful cutting and complementary stitching creates its wings. Salvatore Ferragamo’s most recent advertising campaign has been out for a bit now, but I think it’s still worth talking about. This is the type of photo shoot that makes me long for the weather that accompanies the advertised season.

In a visually stunning fall/winter 2009 photo shoot, Ferragamo displays new coats, handbags, and, of course, shoes. The campaign features models Eva Herzigova and Mariacarla Boscono alongside dashingly handsome Italian dancer Roberto Bollé.

I’m not sure where photographer Mario Testino shot the ads, but the background is quite impressive. They seem to be sauntering through a gorgeous city park … draped in designer clothing and accessories, quite naturally.

Although the location is very pretty, it’s the gorgeous scarlet red outfits in this shot that caught my eye. The look is very dramatic but extremely elegant and sophisticated. I can just imagine one of those vibrant satchels on my arm this season. I might not be pairing it with a red dress, shoes, and tights, but they look simply fabulous.
