San Francisco based tech accessories label WaterField Designs has unveiled its latest model, the Indy. This sophisticated shoulder bag is designed to hold Apple’s iPad tablets.

This stylish tech bag is crafted from distressed leather and well-appointed with a range of practical pockets. I particularly like the modern diagonal exterior pocket, which is lined with plush ultrasuede to cushion an iPhone. A pocket on the opposite side has a self-locking zipper for extra security.

The Indy has a sophisticated slender design, but it’s still large enough to hold the tablet with or without a protective case. Its sunken zip closure makes the style extra sleek. Its adjustable strap helps the Indy convert from a regular shoulder bag to a more casual cross-body style.

“With the iPad becoming as indispensable as a wallet or an iPhone, it should be just as convenient to carry around,” explained WaterField Designs founder Gary Waterfield. “But, because of its size, the iPad is usually stashed in a bigger bag or backpack. The Indy is designed from a guy’s perspective.“

Despite being designed with men in mind, I’m sure many gadget-loving girls will embrace it as well! The Indy is available in neutral black and brown tones with your choice of matte black or nickel hardware for $179. It’s available for pre-order from SFBags ahead of its April 14 release.

When is a clutch not a clutch? When it’s the Liz from Badgley Mischka!

The fashion house calls the Liz a clutch, but its substantial straps are something we never see on purses of this ilk. I personally prefer these straps, with their leather padding and chunky links, to the flimsy chains we usually find. However as they’re so sizable we can’t tuck them inside the bag like a traditional clutch. They’re not detachable either, so our only carrying option is to sling the Liz over our shoulder. It seems strange to call a purse a clutch when you can’t really clutch it at all!

I prefer to think of the Liz as a regular shoulder bag. While its petite body resembles a clutch, it’s not as eye-catching as an evening purse should be. It’d suit dinners with friends or a late night movie, but you wouldn’t take it to a club or party. It just doesn’t have enough flair.

But for everyday use, its soft saffiano leather and bold turn-lock clasp are perfect. Some modern girls may prefer some extra space, but the Liz should hold an average wallet, keys, a cell phone, and cosmetic essentials with little trouble. It forces you to travel a little lighter, which is ideal for busy days.

It’s not really the clutch Badgley Mischka promised, but the Liz is still a great investment at $259.99.

Lauren Merkin has always been an evening bag specialist, but I’ve never seen her create a clutch quite as chic as the June.

The pleats she loves are gone, replaced with an elegant structured shape. Its black hue makes it so versatile, but that wide pale khaki stripe ensures it doesn’t blend into the background. The polished patent leather finish makes it perfect for a special evening out, although I’d be tempted to work it into my daytime wardrobe as well!

Admittedly adding it to your everyday attire won’t be easy. While it looks the part it’s quite petite, and there’s no shoulder strap either. You won’t mind carrying such a small purse for an evening out, but holding a clutch all day could be another matter. And where will you put all those everyday essentials?

It’s not entirely impractical though. I particularly like the internal zippered pocket, which is much more functional than the teeny tiny slips we usually find. I’d use it to hold my coins and cards safe, as fitting a wallet inside will be a stretch.

It’s not the perfect purse but the June is very elegant, and at $275 it’s not as expensive as it looks!

Alexander McQueen’s website has received a slick new makeover. As the British brand forges ahead without its late namesake, a brand new look makes a lot of sense.

But the website redesign is about more than mere aesthetics. There are several new features to excite fashion fans. There’s now a separate scarf boutique, which offers exclusive colorways of the label’s iconic skull scarf. It also brings together the signature Alexander McQueen line and the diffusion brand McQ, so customers can shop for both brands in the one convenient location. And it’s great news for fashion fans in the European Union, as Alexander McQueen’s extended its e-commerce capabilities to European customers.

I particularly like the nifty My McQueen feature, which allows registered users to save their favourite runway images, advertisements, and products in one convenient location. It’s like creating the ultimate style wish list!

And I’m also happy to see Alexander McQueen isn’t resting on its laurels. What’s on the website now is exciting, but it’s just the beginning. Amongst new features in the works are video archives and photo galleries of all Alexander McQueen catwalk shows. Something tells me you could get sucked in to those video archives very easily!

The bottom line clinches it for me. Forget those Rodeo Drive prices; this West Coast beauty costs just $89.99.

Acclaimed Dubai designer Ayesha Depala looks to add accessories to her apparel collection. While she admits she’s only in the early planning stages at this point, she suggests we’ll see Ayesha Depala handbags and shoes in stores within the next six months.

While there’s still a long way to go before the accessories hit boutique shelves Depala knows what she wants in her latest lines. The new ranges promise to bypass fashion fads and celebrate understated elegance.

After all, Depala herself doesn’t indulge in trend-conscious bags that look good for just one season, so she doesn’t want to create them.

“It’s not the ethos of my brand and it’s not how I dress, either. After spending a certain amount of money on a product, I want it to have a longer life,” she explained. “So I would like to keep my bags very classic.“

Depala says her debut handbag collection will feature soft colors, including the blush and skin tones so prevalent in her apparel collections.

She also promises the accessories will be accessible for everyday fashion fans. She suggests most bags will cost between 1,800 and 2,000 United Arab Emirates dirham, or roughly between $490 and $545. She suggests she may also introduce a line of luxurious beaded lace evening purses, which will be cost between 5,000 and 6,000 United Arab Emirates dirham, the equivalent of between $1360 and $1635.

“At the end of the day, I just want people to look at them, love them and buy them.“

Ayesha Depala’s apparel items are favorites of Naomi Watts, Yasmin Le Bon, and Bollywood sweetheart Sonam Kapoor. No doubt the addition of an accessories line will only enhance the fashion house’s appeal.

Nixon serves up a casual duffel bag that lives up to its name with the Round and Round.

I’d rarely call a bag made from beige canvas eye-catching, but the Round and Round’s structured barrel shape is quite endearing. I’d hardly call it fashion forward, but the distinctive silhouette gives this bag a really unique personality. All too often casual bags slouch sloppily, and in bucking that trend Nixon’s made sure this one seems fresh. It’d appear more modern in just about any other color, but at this price point we probably can’t bee too choosy.

It doesn’t have the flair we require on the city streets, but the Round and Round would make a great gym bag or weekender. It’s spacious enough to hold everything you need for those mini getaways, and its dual handles are tough enough to hold the weight of your luggage. And if they’re getting a little difficult to manage, you can always attach the longer, cross-body strap. The simple interior is unlined, but it does have a few pockets to keep important travel items in order.

At $50 this Round and Round bag is an affordable if somewhat boring way to schlep around your stuff.

Alice Dellal’s appointment as the new face of Chanel raised a few eyebrows, but the advertisements for the fashion house’s Boy collection should silence the critics. On paper the edgy young heavy metal drummer seems incongruous with Chanel’s classic style, but Karl Lagerfeld’s latest muse manages to add just the right amount of attitude to the campaign.

Kagerfeld himself shot the images on location at a lavish French chateau. Dellal pairs classic Chanel tweed and pearls with her Boy bag. The accessory is a bit more modern than the average Chanel purse, with its metallic alligator finish, heavy chains, and masculine box shape. The Boy acts as a bit of a bridge between the classic Chanel elements and Dellal’s ripped stockings and nose ring.

A Chanel spokesperson declared “Alice Dellal represents the perfect incarnation of all that is unique about the Boy Chanel handbag collection, which strives [to be] far from conformist notions of femininity.“

Looking at the finished advertisements, it’s hard to argue with that summation. Dellal’s punk rock vibe has brought this heritage brand into the 21st century, and it probably won’t do her career any harm either.

Chanel Boy Bags on eBay

An eye-popping woven finish helps this brown Serena tote stand out from the crowd.

I’ve never seen a weave quite like this. It reminds me of those optical illusion illustrations we’d stare at as children. In fact, I find myself getting just as hypnotized as I gaze at Cole Haan’s tightly woven surface!

Cole Haan ensures the weave is the star by keeping the rest of the Serena simple. Its shape is very traditional, and its Woodbury brown a classic. Cole Haan offers us a few more color options, but I think the Serena looks its best in neutral hues. Black and sandlewood work fine, but in lairy beet there’s just a bit too much going on.

It’s interesting that Cole Haan calls this Serena a small tote, because I can’t imagine wanting any bigger! Any larger and it might overwhelm an outfit, or your body. We’re certainly not wanting for storage space here.

When you consider that Bottega Veneta charges four-figure sums for its esteemed woven leather accessories you realize just how affordable the Serena is. At $397.50 it doesn’t even feel like a compromise!
