New online shopping destination The Luggage and Bag Shop looks to put an end to airport anxiety and excess baggage fees.

With airlines around the world calling for its travelers to adhere to different weight and size restrictions for their checked baggage and carry-on cases, it can be difficult to keep track. The Luggage and Bag Shop takes away the guesswork by detailing the dimensions and weights required by almost 100 airlines around the world.

You simply choose your preferred carrier and the British site reveals a selection of suitable cabin bags and travel cases. You can also search for a bag according to its brand, color, shell, price, or material.

“The result of having the wrong size or weight of hand luggage can be costly as the airline will insist that you check-in the baggage to the plane’s hold,” explained website spokesperson Stephen Bannerman. “We wanted to take the anxiety and frustration out of carrying hand luggage.“

Since its launch a couple of months ago, The Luggage and Bag Shop has quickly established itself as a trusted seller of travel accessories. It offers a diverse selection including of some 600 different products including luggage, cabin bags, and accessories for business and weekend travel. Kotur takes a break from its usual clutches to deliver this more upmarket Rene Mosaic Minaudiere.

Kotur’s clutch purses are usually elegant, but they look positively casual next to this polished beauty. I love the way the fashion house has used pale polished squares of mother of pearl to create a very subtle, very sophisticated mosaic finish. These tiled surfaces have been around since the fourth century, but the use of regularly shaped squares makes the finish feel very fresh.

The pale orange, pink, and blue pearlized tiles are offset by a bold black gemstone clasp. Personally I think the closure’s a little too chunky for those delicate squares, but it only slightly dampens my enthusiasm for this pretty purse.

Nobody buys a minaudiere because it’s especially practical. The brass frame provides such an alluring structure, but also ensures we can’t overfill the small interior. If we try to sneak an extra tube of lip gloss inside, that clasp will simply pop open in protest!

You’ll probably need to pare back your idea of evening essentials, but it’ll be worth it when the compliments roll in!

Diane von Furstenberg’s given the classic messenger a sophisticated makeover to create the Keller bag.

The typical canvas fabric has been replaced by luxury leather, and the usual casual silhouette made more structured and elegant. You can see the traditional messenger peeking through, something like the way we can still see ourselves in our childhood photos. Just like us it seems like this messenger has lost its baby fat and pimples along the path to maturity.

The Keller comes with a grown up price tag, but $675 still isn’t exorbitant for a bag that could so easily slot itself into your everyday wardrobe. It’s got just the right amount of space for holding everything we really need when we step out, and its long strap is perfect for slinging over our shoulder. The small top handle is a bit superfluous really. As the longer strap can’t be removed no one will ever choose to carry it by this tiny fixture. And so it’s left sitting and doing very little!

I’m already starting to plan the outfits that would work best with this bag. Since it’s such a versatile shade of toffee brown, it might take me a while!

However when you unzip its main compartment you find this is a backpack for the technology age. The main compartment is also big enough to hold your other everyday requirements.

The Sync’s cleverly organized interior is complemented by its contoured shoulder straps and padded back panel. Such a sizable bag could easily become heavy once it’s loaded up, but these features should help ease the strain. Its polyester finish isn’t very alluring, but it’s a smart choice for everyday use. The fabric is very tough, and you can even hand wash it if it starts to look grimy.

With more students taking their laptops to class, I predict this affordable backpack will find favour amongst college kids, and the young at heart!

Rebecca Minkoff has come to the rescue of frugal shoppers with her new Delight bag, created exclusively for Avon’s beauty and fashion boutique, Mark.

By using leatherette rather than authentic leather Minkoff’s been able to price her Delight at $60. That’s far less than the $465 she charges for the similarly sized Morning After from her signature collection.

The lesser material means the Delight isn’t quite as delightful as its name implies, but it stays true to Minkoff’s contemporary urban aesthetic with its studded finish and neat flap-over design. It’s small but pretty practical, with three interior pockets and another on the back. The business card pocket and key clip inside add extra value. The combination chain and leatherette strap also gives us the best of both worlds.

The Delight’s release is Minkoff’s latest step to make her products more accessible. She said she understands that not everyone can afford her signature purses, and she wanted to be able to offer them an alternative. You might remember that she also slashed her prices by 25% when the recession hit.

“We decided to listen to our consumer during the recession and so we knew that things were tough,” she explained.

The unique ruffled finish on this Compleat Flynn from Lockheart helps it stand above the other hobos.

Ruffled bags tend to look flouncy and feminine, but Lockheart’s given the familiar accent a more modern feel. Its ruffles are very tight and very small, unlike those soft frills we’re so familiar with. Fashion is all about taking risks, and in Lockheart’s case it’s paid dividends.

The unique ruffles are really the star of this hobo, and by making the Compleat Flynn relatively simple Lockheart’s allowed them to shine. The familiar crescent shape is complemented by a solo shoulder strap.

The Compleat Flynn’s interior isn’t quite as intricate as its finish, but Lockheart has definitely exceeded my expectations. The spacious interior is packed with practical features, including a key clip, a zippered pocket, and four open pouches. Each pocket is trimmed in leather to help it last.

Ashley M helps us hang on to winter just a little bit longer with this quirky Sweater Knit Satchel.

I see what Ashley M’s trying to do here. Knitted wool bags were big on the runway during winter. The playful snowflake print makes this one appear like a kitschy sweater, and that has a certain geek chic appeal. And fur, be it authentic or the synthetic variety we see here, is always popular during cold weather. But that doesn’t mean the wintery elements should come together on one purse.

While the sweater-like knit finish is a bit gimmicky, I don’t mind it. However, that faux fur pocket seems very out of place, almost as if it’s an afterthought just tacked on. It’s practical enough, but the satchel would look much better if it were made from more of the knit.

As a carry bag alone this Knit Satchel does the trick. It’s spacious and well appointed, with a selection of pockets inside and out. Its straps are long enough for slinging casually over your shoulder, and it’s even affordable at $46. However despite its functionality, it’s just so unattractive that you couldn’t pay me to carry it!

This bloom is unfamiliar to Western audiences, but it’s actually the national flower of South Korea.

As there are so many diverse items in the Flora collection it’s unsurprising to see prices vary wildly. The cheapest piece in the collection costs around $205 US, while the most expensive will set you back $1770.

J. Furmani serves up a cute evening purse for girls on a budget with this Petal purse.

The evening bag gets its name from the soft ruffles that decorate its body. They really do resemble large rose petals if you look at them the right way. If you want to opt for an authentic flowery look this red Petal is your bag. However with black, fuchsia, and turquoise available there’s plenty of choice.

It doesn’t pamper us, but for the money the Petal has all we really need and then some. Its chain strap is simple but it does the job. As it’s so delicate we can also tuck it away and use the Petal as a clutch. Personally I’d worry about the ruffles crushing underneath our fingers, but it’s great to have choice. I also like the zippered top, which offers more security than a magnetic clasp or other closure type.

The Petal’s quality doesn’t come close to high end evening accessory options, but for just $35 it doesn’t have to. This party purse might not last very long, but it won’t cost much to replace either!
