The soft slouch is more languorous and sensual than we typically see on a hobo, a stark contrast to the oversized rosette detail. This is a structured beauty, with each and every petal falling just as Valentino intended it to. The unusual combination is striking and one which suits a much more modern kind of femininity than any delicate bloom.

It’s just a shame Valentino didn’t put the same sort of effort in when designing the interior. This is a massive bag, and without any pockets inside it only seems larger. Prepare to spend a lot of time scrounging for your keys and ringing cell phone if you add this purse to your collection.

I might be able to forgive that annoyance if the price were reasonable. For me that bottom line is the biggest disappointment. It doesn’t seem to matter what material Valentino uses; the brand wants to charge us top dollar. Anyone who hoped denim would bring the price down will be sorely disappointed. At $1195, this is a case of paying more for the name than the bag I think!

I also can’t fault the design for functionality. While it’s on the small side, it’s ideal for those days that you don’t want to feel loaded up. It can handle the essentials, although a chunky wallet may pose a challenge for this slim design. The cross-body style is also practical for busy days on the go.

Like a comfortable security blanket, Ugg Australia reminds us a bag doesn’t need to be beautiful to capture our hearts.

Colorful British designer Zandra Rhodes will launch her latest handbag collection at this month’s Pure London trade show.

The range features 12 different purses, from small clutches and evening bags to everyday shoulder bags and cross-body purses, all designed with Zandra Rhodes distinctive edgy style. The bags feature a bold color palette, with pewters, pinks, and purples all making a bold statement. The purses are accented with high gloss patent, glitzy metallics, and glam snakeskin. Rose-gold hardware and lining as pink as Zhandra Rhodes’ hair complete the flirty and flamboyant good looks.

Buyers and retailers can meet Zandra Rhodes at a Q&A session with Jenni Middleton, editor of Retail Jeweller. The UK fashion icon will field questions at the Footwear Bar from 11:30 am on February 15. She’ll also open the Main Catwalk show later that afternoon at 2 pm.

Zandra Rhodes latest handbag collection is expected in stores in early fall.

Cari Carter was once a frustrated handbag lover. While she enjoyed taking a favorite purse out for a drive, she hated the way its contents would spill onto her car’s floor before the trip was done.

She tried using bungee cords and utility hooks to hold her handbag in place, but they were downright ugly. She found a more stylish solution by fastening a bow to a robe hook. And so Car*go Handbag Hooks was born.

When all her friends wanted one of their very own, Cari saw the potential in the design.

“That’s when I realized I might have something in this creation,” she explained.

Each hook is made from a combination of strong steel and alloy to hold up to 15 pounds. While there’s little variety right now, that’s all set to change. Cari is currently working on more styles and designs for women, and a more masculine-looking collection for holding a man’s briefcase or laptop bag.

To be completely honest, I haven’t really cared for many of the bags that Stella McCartney has designed for Adidas. The blend of functionality and practicality with fashion-y styles has left me feeling a little cold. But, I really dig this washed denim hobo.

The soft, rounded shape is perfectly traditional, which contrasts nicely with the edgy zipper details. The mix of silver and gold toned hardware is basically genius, and the huge size makes it great for girls who don’t pack light. Or for girls who do pack light looking for a rocker style weekend bag.

Unfortunately, it is lacking any major organizing features, which is a bit disappointing on a bag of this size. The outer zippers aren’t just for show, though; they are expanders to give you those extra few inches.

It has everything that the rest of the line was lacking for me: a few more bells and whistles and a fabric that doesn’t stink of sportswear. It may also be that it looks dramatically like Alexander Wang’s ubiquitous hobos. Truthfully, the market has just been begging for this bag at this price point.

I am falling more and more in love with the Prezzo brand. The label keeps producing bags that look classy and expensive but which barely cost anything. Sure they may not last forever, but with this tote costing $35 you will probably not mind!

This tote isn’t hugely fashionable, by which I mean that it isn’t really following any of the big trends that are on the catwalks at the moment. Instead the brand plays it safe with a deep black microfiber body, and then adds a little bit of interest in the rainbow multi-colored trim. The handles then pick out the brown shades in the trim, and neatly tie the look together.

This Prezzo bag is obviously built for space and shopping, as the shape is pretty much just a traditional cube. This may not seem that exciting now, but when you can fit all your purchases in on your way home you will be sure to appreciate it.

Perfectly timed for the upcoming release of Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, this tote has a very distinct chess board style that would look at home in Lewis Carroll’s very peculiar world. Consequently this hold-all is just right for channeling a funky vibe, whilst the colors and basic formal shape mean that it is still suitable as work wear.

If there is one thing that the eco-friendly brand are good at, it is producing functional totes. They look great too, but the bonus of space, resilience and long handles is not to be underestimated. Even better, for such a large bag this is reasonably priced, costing just $118. I am not a massive fan of the gray Harveys signature lining, but I personally don’t like gray with black and white anyway.

With a great design and unique environmentally-friendly selling point, this is great for fashionable eco-warriors.

This Jalda Brief clutch is an unusual yet formal purse, perfect for business attire.

What many brands don’t understand is that if your bag is made from an interesting fabric with an interesting pattern then you don’t have to over embellish. Whilst lots of purses may have had buttons or jewels or even bows sewn on after the design process, Jalda has thankfully stuck with the “less is more theory.” This way the basic fold-over shape is made the design feature, with the great green lizard-embossed leather as back up!

This purse isn’t the most spacious in the shops, but if you need a little clutch bag then its flexible Italian leather exterior should be more than suitable. It also isn’t very secure, although if it is held in your hand you shouldn’t lose anything. What I will say is that practicality comes second with a bag this unusual, especially when the gorgeous interior is in such a sapphire blue! Looks have to win!

This Two’s Company Newport Tote has me itching for summer. There’s something about the stripped pattern and the sunny combination of rainbow hues that has me longing for warmer days.

This enormous tote seems tailor-made for carrying a towel and string bikini to the beach or pool, but I wouldn’t pack it away once winter comes around again. Those generous dimensions make it ideal for carrying your sneakers and spare clothes to the gym, or fresh produce home from the markets.

Whatever you use it for, the hardy combination of nylon and polyester will last for a long time. There’s no luxury to it, but it’s just what you want in an everyday casual bag.

It is simple though. Don’t go expecting fancy linings, closures or a plethora of pockets because you’ll be disappointed. But for $19, I’m happy to appreciate what this tote does have and forget about the elements it lacks!
