The mesh on this purse is a lot finer than the chunky styling that we see on the brand’s other mesh purse. I personally prefer this more delicate metal pattern, which not only feels great to hold, but looks more sophisticated too. That sophistication is added to by the lack of decoration; the silver and the distinctive shape speak for themselves.

OK, so a bargain clutch like the $37 beauty isn’t ever going to be of the highest quality. But generally I feel Latico has done well; the color isn’t too brassy, and the design is great.

It actually is a great deal as it even comes with an optional chain strap, so you get practicality too!

If you want a classy bag for weekends away, then this Latico duffel bag may be just the thing.

This bag is a lot more formal and functional than the normal Latico designs. However, we can tell by the name of the collection, Heritage, that this is likely to be focused more on simple good looks and a traditional timeless style than it is on fleeting trends. And, with this is mind, I think the label has achieved its aims. This large weekend bag is attractive at the same time as subtle, and I don’t know of anyone who would actively dislike it.

The problem with not inspiring dramatic emotional responses is that you also won’t find many people who fall head over heels in love with this leather bag’s looks. Even whilst appreciating the many functional and design good points, I still find myself rather underwhelmed!

This design is well worth paying the money for, as it should never go out of fashion, and the soft leather won’t fall apart too easily. Plus, this is much nicer than many sportier duffels on the market!

I love the retro designs of Spanish artist Jordi Labanda, but I’m not sure I could work one of Miquelrius’ handbags bearing the colorful prints. But I think I’ve found the ideal solution in this Miquelrius cosmetic bag.

When I have a make-up emergency, I can whip this purse out and enjoy the cute image of the shopaholic girl and the red poppy emblazoned background matching her skirt. But once my lipstick is applied, I can stash it inside my more conservatively styled handbag and greet the day with a fresh face. It really is the best of both worlds!

Not that this purse is entirely perfect. It’s a fairly simple cosmetics purse, with ample space but none of the features I love. Our makeup is left to fend for itself with no pouches or pockets to keep it organized. At least we have a zip top closure to keep it safely packed away inside!

For the price though, a bargain basement $30, I don’t expect much more. This cosmetics case does an admirable job of carrying all the makeup I need, and it looks adorable while it’s doing it!

Recycled Billboard Bags on eBay

Susan Farber keeps the ruffles to a minimum with the Bailey bag. It’s a very different look from the designer who tends to prefer frills and fluff over clean lines, but it’s one that I think pays off.

At least it does most of the time. In rich waxed leather the Bailey has up uptown cool vibe. The tassles and tiny ruffles near the side pockets are probably unnecessary, but they’re dark enough to go relatively unnoticed.

But on the haircalf alternative it’s a different matter. To be fair, I’ve never really found a haircalf bag that’s made my heart race. This black zebra printed fur does nothing to change my mind though. The same embellishments I could forgive earlier are obnoxiously present in tan. These accents clash with the black stripes, and it’s not in a good way. Personally I think it’s tacky, but if you’ve got the confidence to carry it by all means go ahead.

Looks aside, this is a fairly practical everyday purse. Gingham fabric lines the luxuriously large interior, a space appointed with pockets on both sides to make organization easy. Your worldly possessions are kept safe with a long zippered closure.

The Bailey is relatively affordable by Susan Farber day bag standards at $460.

Cynthia Vincent is known for her strangely shaped zipper pouches, and this studded version gives the shape a whole lot more attitude!

I really like the geometric layout of the studs, and the fact that they don’t just come in one boring metal. The combination of silver and gold tones makes it looks more interesting, especially with the variety of shapes. Girls who like something with a rock chick edge will no doubt find themselves drawn to it!

Of course something metallic needs to be toned down by the accompanying material, and it is interesting that Cynthia Vincent hasn’t opted for the traditional soft black leather. Instead she has chosen a faded taupe suede, a choice that I am not a particular fan of. You may like the coordination with the golden tones, however.

Unusual and quirky, this is a great way to casually work the rock look.

OK, so it is nearly spring. And that justifies me writing about a purse that it totally and utterly summery.

From the pale wooden frame to the raffia-esque woven body, the Tahiti is yet another beach-worthy purse from the affordable brand, Big Buddha. That woven body is actually made from a faux leather material, rather than the straw that you would perhaps presume, and this makes the handbag a lot more durable than it would otherwise be.

I always admire attractive frame clutches, and I doubt anyone would fault the gorgeous wood used in this one. It is both slightly retro and very modern in the same moment. The lack of a shoulder strap does make it a little more inconvenient to carry, but for the great looks I would be willing to pay the price.

Costing just $55, this is a great and affordable purse from the Big Buddha brand.

We didn’t need Sharon Osbourne or Twiggy to tell us that using fur in fashion is a no no. But it’s often hard to find alternatives that offer the same level of luxury. Yana is one of those rare companies which offers animal-friendly accessories without skimping on the opulence.

Faux Fur Bags on eBay

Bags featuring artistic prints are right on trend for this current season. If you love the look and luxury consider this Maison Martin Margiela Cherry Blossom Bag.

Many artistic totes print their patterns on canvas or cotton, so it’s lovely to see this lush leather alternative. The landscape has a distinctly Japanese look with its majestic mountains and blooming cherry blossom trees. The colors are gorgeous but striking, so you’ll need to wear neutrals to make this tote look its best.

What a shame this gorgeous print doesn’t reach the back though. I guess some may argue that the plain white leather found here almost gives you two bags in one, but I tend to disagree. All I can see is that in time you’ll have a bag which stuns from the front, but looks grubby and boring behind.

The interior is also a little disappointing. It’s got space to spare, but Maison Martin Margiela doesn’t offer the organizational features we need to really make the most of all that room. There’s a white zippered pouch which loops onto the inside. It’s a unique storage sack to be sure, but it’s just not really enough to satisfy me.

These missteps make me balk at the $1395 asking price. Once a bag steps over the four-figure mark, I want perfection and this sadly falls short no matter how lovely it looks.
