I hereby want to rescind everything I’ve ever said about Judith Leiber’s crystal clutches being tacky or over-the-top. This jaguar is fierce and amazing and obviously a work of art.

I’ve not always been a fan of Leiber’s designs, but I am really warming up to them. I guess I’m starting to realize how tongue-in-cheek and self-conscious her approach to design is. This jaguar, in particular, is really striking a chord with me. Animal prints are all the rage this season, but you don’t usually see them on actual animals, or done up in Swarovski, so this bag is pretty unique.

I can’t get over the expert rendering of this chilled out wildcat. It’s hard to call something covered in crystals realistic, but this comes close. It would be a fabulous addition to an all-black ensemble or all animal print, if you’re super daring.

As with all of Judith Leiber’s clutches, the quality is high and so is the price. If you’re looking for a fabulous and cheeky addition to your handbag collection, this little cat might be the clutch for you.

Juicy Couture makes affordable, fashion-forward accessories for young, urban women. I am not always a fan of the label’s often blinged out, ostentatious style, but when it takes things down a notch, the results can be amazing. This satchel style hobo is a great example of Juicy at its finest.

Celebrate utility chic with this functional Joe’s Jeans bowling bag.

Whilst often bowlers are dramatically over decorated, the Amber is the very opposite. Interest is added by the contrasting textures of the leather, but other than that it is left to speak for itself. It is, consequently, quite an industrial design, and one that will pair perfectly with this summer’s khakis and safari based looks.

Whilst this bag is very on-trend, I know that many people will have a couple of problems with it. The slightly uncommon brown shade of this crinkled tote will be one sticking point. If that is the case, however, then there is a black option! The $200 price may also put some people off, but you do get real leather and quality workmanship for the price.

This is a traditional bowler with lots going for it in a really simple way, and as the name suggests it will pair well with denim!

Pretty evening bags that cost less than $40 don’t come along very often, making this J. Furmani purse quite a rare species!

Art deco design seems to be creeping back up in the popularity stakes this year, rebelling against the flowers and patterns that have been so on-trend of late. For me this is a relief, as it is much easier to coordinate a simple and elegant handbag with an outfit than it is a decorative and over the top one! Satin is, after all, very evening appropriate, and the little scattering of diamante just completes the effect.

Of course, I must mention that although the art deco frame design is lovely, the low cost probably means the structure won’t last a long as you may hope. As an occasional use bag I am sure it will be more than acceptable, but I couldn’t expect the short chain strap or hinges to last for long.

This satin bag is very pretty, and beats many more expensive clutches hands down in the looks department!

We are used to seeing exceptionally unusual novelty bags from designer Timmy Woods. Comparatively, this beaded tote is quite normal, quite subtle.

However, when you get up close to this purse, you realize that what looks from a distance like some form of embroidered patchwork is actually a huge amount of beading. It is also suitable to wear both day and night, rather than only to parties!

This unusual summer tote with its straw base is cute, quirky and fun, and eminently more sensible that its sibling designs!

I’m always hesitant to spend money on a pale pastel handbag. I love the way these pristine purses look, but I’m convinced I’ll only be disappointed later.
