It’s taken seven months, but Coach and Target have finally settled their court battle over copyright infringement. Coach claimed that Target sold bags resembling its Ergo and Signature Patchwork designs.

In a statement Coach said that all parties “have amicably resolved the recent lawsuit.” The terms of that resolution are confidential.

“We respect the integrity of all brands, including Coach, and are pleased that this matter has been resolved in a manner beneficial to all parties involved,” said Rick Darling, the president of consumer goods sourcing company LF USA.

I’d love to know the terms of that settlement. I’m sure Target will be removing the offending bags from its shelves, and perhaps Coach has been offered some kind of monetary compensation. I’m sure Target’s impersonators didn’t really take any business away from Coach, whose shares have been on the rise, but it’s the principle of the thing. At any rate, with all parties remaining tight-lipped I guess all we need to know is this case is done and dusted.

The first thing you notice about this handbag is its sheer size. This isn’t a bag to be ignored; it’s almost large enough to carry everything you need and the kitchen sink. Such a generous space could easily become ungainly, but Cynthia Vincent does its best to keep the Berkeley user friendly. A large zippered envelope separates the expansive interior into three separate sections, while zip and slip pockets in the side walls keep your essentials at hand.

But no matter how well organized, such a big bag has its drawbacks. If you’re a girl of slim to medium build, this is going to dwarf your frame. I suggest seriously considering its dimensions and yours before you decide if this bag is for you.

Size does matter, but it doesn’t tell the Berkeley’s whole story. The deep teal leather is compelling. This color is an unexpected choice but one that should be easily worked into any wardrobe. The soft skin is embossed with crocodile scales for that extra level of luxury.

We get a lot of bag for our dollar here, which makes the $403 price tag seem pretty reasonable.

When you’re wearing a strappy gown, this Coloriffics clutch really comes into its own. While your peers will be wincing as silver chains pinch their shoulders, you’ll be comfortable carrying the woven rope strap. It’s just as elegant as the metal alternative, and much less painful!

I can imagine this Coloriffics clutch looking just as good on a night out with friends as an up-market do. It’s rare to find an evening bag that can work quite this hard, especially at such an affordable price point.

Jimmy Choo has been adding a lot of downtown flavor to his line this season, and I, for one, am loving it. There’s nothing like a seriously beautiful bag with a little attitude to take your wardrobe to the next level, and the Sky hobo may just be that bag.

While the Sky has a lot of complicated details, it doesn’t look overwrought, which is something I really appreciate. The soft gray is the perfect neutral for the hotter seasons, as it is dark enough to add a little elegance to your ensemble, but light enough not to muddy up a brighter color palette. And it will look amazing with red, which is always a bonus.

The traditional hobo shape is accented with rows of studded fringe, a look that is unusual and unique. I love that from far away the bag looks like it has giant perforations, and that it isn’t until up close that you can see the intricate level of detail and amazing texture.

The only embellishment on this bag that I don’t care for is the bracelet on the handle. This non-functional trend is not one that I particularly like or understand. It doesn’t look too messy on the Sky, though, so I might be willing to overlook it. Of course, for $2,295, I don’t really want to have to overlook anything.

This little shoulder bag packs a wallop in terms of style. While chain straps are beginning to seem trendy, the strap on the Caro looks well-designed and well thought out. It’s partially because the slimness of the chain gives it a certain delicacy, and it’s partially because the chain itself is a little unusual. The alternating sizes of the links give it its own aesthetic that goes perfectly with the bag itself.

The small, smooth-grained purse is pared down and elegant, but the details are perfectly wrought. The intricate seam detail shows the quality craftsmanship, and the bar plaque closure on the front flap gives the Caro an edginess that is extremely appealing.

The small size of this bag makes it perfect for evening, but I think it could work for daytime as well. This versatility makes the $495 price tag seem reasonable, and the timelessness of the design makes it a worthwhile investment.

Whiting & Davis has been becoming gradually more well-known for its stylish yet modern purses and creative clutches. The crystal chevron clutch here, however, shows that you can go back to your roots and still look darn gorgeous with it.

What we see here is an evening bag very similar to the pouch-like mesh handbags that Whiting & Davis originally became known for. Whilst the art deco design and cool feel make this a desirable accessory, I can understand why it will make some people hesitate. After all, the simple shape and frame clasp may be too traditional for many, harking back too far in time, and only coordinating easily with traditional black dresses and tiaras. If you are happy to embrace this sort of vintage look, however, then this evening bag should serve you well.

This classic crystal embellished cross-body may be just the dose of old-fashioned glamor that we need in a world obsessed with the new and the exciting.

Do you remember the Rebecca Minkoff Nikki hobo? Well, now the designer has produced a studded version for our delectation, the Linear.

The shape, you may realize, is pretty much identical to the slouchy leather of the first version of this Nikki tote. Because I loved the quality and feel first time round, I have to admit to being very pleased that the label has avoided reinventing the wheel, and has stuck instead to improving an already tempting handbag proposition. And improve it is does, simply by adding studs.

Whilst studs can be overpowering, you see, Rebecca Minkoff has manage to keep it tame and simple. She has scattered the pyramid shaped hardware along the already existing lines of the hobo, emphasizing the shape and adding just a hint of rock chick glamour. True rock-n-rollers may want more metal-work, but I personally think the minimalism lets just enough attitude and style shine through.

Now we come to the real drawback: the price. More expensive than the original, this costs a mighty $650, which could probably be spent on multiple bags of similar design for less money. If you love that buttery beige leather, however, then you may well be tempted to shell out!
