DKNY is one of those lines that has been around forever, drifting in and out of popularity. Right now it seems to be making a major comeback, if the quality of its accessories line is any evidence. This lovely black satin clutch is a chic alternative to more expensive versions out there.

The design is simple, classic, and elegant. The elongated rectangular shape is perfect for showcasing the lovely sheen on the satin material, and the generous size makes it great for long nights on the town when you just have to have a full make up kit with you. I think a lot of women will even find themselves grabbing this bag for daytime special occasions.

The leather and chain strap is very of-the-moment. Should this moment pass, or you decide to go for a more traditional look, it’s also removable. The shiny gold hardware adds a little hint of glamour without being showy.

The best part about this bag is the price. At $165, it isn’t cheap, exactly, but it is more reasonable than a lot of higher designer versions out there without sacrificing quality materials.

I have a love-hate relationship with Coach, and this pint-sized wristlet comes down on the side of love!

Although the design is teeny tiny, this wouldn’t hold me back. I just wouldn’t use this as the wristlet it is sold as, choosing instead to treat it as a little card purse or coin bag. That way it can be attached to your handbag, and used as a little extra storage or to make things easier to organize.

If you aren’t like me then you may not be quite so tempted by anything that comes in a smaller than ordinary size. In that case then the cute cartoon style design (reminiscent of a school days blackboard!) may win you around. This fun casual design is what I love about this little leather wristlet; that and the $58 price tag!

Marc Jacobs isn’t a trend-follower, he’s a trend-maker. Devotees of the line are usually six months ahead of the rest of the fashion world. This Single shoulder bag really embodies a lot of what’s going on in fashion right now: exotic materials, chain shoulder straps, and deep neutrals. It’s the small details that give it the fashion-forward Marc Jacobs look.

The Single fits in with the recent return to classic quilted bags and traditional shapes. But it’s not often that you see these elements combined with shiny gray snakeskin-embossed leather. The small pyramid studs at the edges of all the quilted corners take it up another notch in terms of edginess. The effect is really cool, because it makes a conservative design look totally rock-n-roll.

I am always a fan of the leather and chain strap. It’s so much more practical that the purely chain version, because all that metal isn’t digging into your shoulder. In this case, it looks particularly right, another example of a fabulous blend of traditional and edgy.

Even the price on this bag doesn’t terrify me the way I expected it to. At $695, it is totally reasonable for a versatile, designer collection handbag. The price stays low because instead of using a genuine synthetic material, Jacobs went with a faux version that is nonetheless high quality and beautiful. A lot of ladies out there are going to be thankful for the Single.

This isn’t the first Cole Haan Raleigh purse that we have featured on BagBunch, but it is definitely the smartest!

There is something about this light sandy beige color that makes it very suitable for summer wearing. Whilst we tend to migrate towards straw materials and clutch bags in the hot months, these aren’t much good for when we need some function, and that is where a gorgeous spacious tote like this really comes into its own. You can fit folders in this one easily, whilst the soft leather stops you from getting too hot and bothered. We may avoid patent when summer arrives, but this woven leather and gentle sheen is very suitable.

Whilst I’m waxing lyrical, can I just say what a difference woven handles will make to tired sunburned shoulders? They are so much more comfortable! Oh, and this bag comes with an optional zipped pouch, which takes the practicality levels up yet another notch too. There are so many good things, from the crinkled leather to the light color, that I am running out of space to list them!

The real bonus? If you love this bag as much as I do then you only have to pay $171, which for a bag of this quality isn’t all that much at all!

Furla attempts to deliver us luxury for less with its croc-embossed Yolande shopper. But sadly it just misses the mark.

While the croc embossed body attempts to stand in for an authentic exotic skin, it’s not a very convincing mimic. The textured patent leather also doesn’t fall as softly as a truly luxurious skin might. Rather than elegant pleats around the front pocket, the Yolande has awkward puckering. The long hanging tassel also seems out of place, a bohemian throwback which doesn’t seem to suit the Yolande’s more conservative look.

It’s a shame the styling falls short, because this is a well designed handbag. Its dual zipper closure provides backup should one zip become stuck. The metal feet help to protect the glossy base, and the slip and zip pockets are just enough to keep the expansive interior in check. The handles are a shade too short for my tastes, but slender girls should have no problems fitting them over their shoulder.

While the Yolande might cost less than an authentic crocodile purse, at a few hundred dollars it’s not exactly cheap either. Personally, I think I’d rather save up and invest in the genuine article than this croc imitator.

Coach is fighting back against market knock-offs by filing a lawsuit against the entire city of Chicago. The case claims the city allows vendors at New Maxwell Street Market to sell counterfeit Coach handbags.

Apparently Coach hired an investigator who found that several New Maxwell Street Market vendors were selling imitation Coach and Chanel handbags. I wonder whether Chanel will join Coach and lodge its own lawsuit on the back of these claims.

Coach says it has spent time, resources, and money developing its brand and reputation, which is compromised by the knock-off handbags. It adds that customers are confused and deceived by these fake goods.

I’m not sure I agree with the latter claim, as anyone who thinks they’re getting a genuine Coach bag from a market stall clearly has rocks in their head. But I do think these vendors need to be held accountable. It’s fascinating that Coach has gone after the city of Chicago itself rather than the sellers involved though. I’ll be interested to see how this case plays out.

Frye embraces the hobo’s bohemian heritage with this Fringe bag.

The star here is the fringe, which hangs casually from around edges of the bag. The fringing bordered by tiny antique brass studs. These accents are lovely, but they’re a bit sparse for my tastes. This is a relatively large bag, and it’s got a lot of blank, boring space. I don’t mind that when the leather is compelling, but this run-of-the-mill skin in a middling cognac shade doesn’t hold my interest.

The design is simple, but Frye doesn’t forget about functionality. It’s big enough for everything we need to carry, and the zip and slip pouches are enough to keep your cargo organized. The braided strap can be doubled up and used as a handle, or worn at full length for a shoulder purse.

It might play things a little safe, but this Frye hobo is a great option for girls who love fringe but don’t have the confidence to carry something bolder.

J. Crew has joined forces with designer Angela Adams for a nautical handbag collection. There are just three bags in the summery range which is about as sea-inspired as you can get. Each one is crafted from recycled sails sourced by the Sea Bags.

Angela Adams has taken the water-resistant fabric and given it a new lease of life with bright, neon hues reminiscent of the buoys that dot the coastline of Adams’ native Maine. The durable material is accented by eco-friendly hemp handles. If you’re looking for a summery bag which will stand up to salty sea air and survive a few seasons, one of these bags might be for you.

That hardy design helps to justify the high-end price of $198. I hesitate to spend this amount on a non-leather tote, but their staying power makes these totes worth the splurge.

If you’re wearing a knock out gown, you need an evening purse which doesn’t threaten to steal the limelight. On those special occasions, the Judith clutch from Franchi is a great option.

It might be demure, but this simple frame purse is far from boring. I love the elegantly pleated body, and its sparkling crystal encrusted clasp really shines against the conservative black satin.

The interior is just as simple, with its elegant black satin lining. It’s not luxuriously large, but that soft lining makes it feel that bit more opulent. A delicate silver chain tucks away inside, ready for those times you want to go hands-free.

Serpui Marie are the gods of raffia and straw bags, and the Vitoria clutch demonstrates that ability to create handbags that look nothing like the materials they are made from.

After all, at first glance I doubt you would assume that this large clutch was made from raffia. It looks more like a deeply textured hessian or thick rural silk. However, when you touch it you feel the papery lightness, and it becomes apparent that actually raffia is just hiding very well indeed. Gone are the thick weaves and rugged designs that usually accompany this summery material, and in its place is a sophisticated pattern and pouch shape.

Whilst the look of this oversized slouchy clutch is undoubtedly one of the most stylish summer options, I do have a couple of questions about the design. First up is the mouth of bag, which features an unattractive uncovered lip. On top of that I have hesitations about the teeny size of the clasp; that will just be such a hassle when you are hot and bothered!

Aside from some little limitations, this is a flamboyant and creative approach to a raffia handbag. Would you pay a massive $487 for it, however?
