I should admit right off the bat that I am in love with this bag. It’s definitely my favorite of the month, and it’s probably in my top three of the year. The reason is that it is both avant garde and wearable. It is minimal with fabulous details that make it really stand out.

The first thing that struck me about this clutch is Lim’s choice of materials. The main compartment is a softly textured black leather, but the front patch pockets are green and gold. This rich color combination is very subtle. The vibe of the bag stays dark, but has a very intricate color palette.

The design of this bag is extraordinary. As a clutch, it is a chic, modern accessory. But it doesn’t stop there. This bag unfolds to a full 11″ x 13″ size, with a convenient shoulder strap. And it looks great both ways! This is a major feat of design and technology, as far as I’m concerned.

It’s the green and gold front pocket details that do the trick, I think. That and the gorgeous geometric clasp. The bag unfolds to the bottom, so these become top details when the bag is carried as a shoulder bag.

I actually can’t believe the bag’s $425 price tag. This is two amazing bags in one for a super low designer price.

Denim meets faux ostrich leather in the Guess Ravillo tote.

Denim and leather are a classic combination. Just imagine a pale denim shirt gathered by a wide tan belt, and you will get what I mean! It is nice, therefore, to see a handbag that combines the two (even if the leather is synthetic), especially in such a relaxed-yet-smart slouchy shape. The leopard print interior may take it a little too far, but never mind!

That shape is very useful, especially as a tote bag needs to hold so many of your belongings. You have space, yet thanks to the belted feature, you also have style. For me the massive Guess clasp, although typical of the brand, is a little bit over the top. However, Guess is all about branding right through to the pattern of the denim, and people who buy its bags probably expect it.

With an interesting ostrich print fabric, this will be a great casual bag with a little style flair.

Sometimes I write about a bag that is just beautiful. Generally the beautiful bags are simple and stunning, and often they don’t cost as much as you would perhaps expect. This Calvin Klein clutch is one of those bags that just makes me go “wow”!

I love it so for many reasons. First up is the shape; sleek and sophisticated, with more than a passing resemblance to the beautiful frame clutches of the Art Deco era. Frame purses like this are always pretty, and the Dots clutch uses the clean modern lines to their very best advantage. It isn’t exactly roomy,  but then again what evening bag is?

Then there is the pattern. Oh, I love it! A collection of glossy metallic dots covers the whole bag, creating a look that is at once ordered and exciting. A modern design like this will never go out of fashion, and it means that you can wear the classic combination of black and silver in a more exciting way than normal. Plus, it is leather, making it very luxurious and interesting.

I can’t insult this bag. I just can’t. I can’t even insult the price at $118. What a beauty!

Emilio Pucci takes things down a notch for this Marquise Bag.

It might seem strange to consider a bag trimmed with studs and rings as reserved, but in comparison with many of Emilio Pucci’s accessories this flap bag is almost sedate. Rather than the colorful prints the fashion house favors, this handbag is made from a basic black sheepskin. Although it’s worth noting that for Pucci, there’s no such thing as basic. The hardware trim gives the purse that punch that we expect from the designer.

It’s a clever thing though. Quirk isn’t sacrificed, but it’s executed in such a way that this purse wouldn’t look out of place in an office or any other conservative environment. It’s got attitude to be sure, but it’s the kind that managers might overlook!

If you need to take a laptop to the office though you’ll probably want for more storage space. There’s enough for most everyday applications however, and while the inner pockets are open I think the secure turn-lock clasp offers us enough peace of mind.

Emilio Pucci never comes cheaply though, so his fans won’t be surprised at the $1395 asking price. It is significant, but if you’re in the market for a Pucci purse this one is definitely more versatile than most.

I’d never heard of a ringlet before, but that’s just what this small and practical Mia purse from Emilie Sloan claims to be.

I’m not sure where its name came from, as there are no rings to be seen, but that matters not. It’s easy to appreciate this purse as an alternative to a wristlet or wallet, with more practical features.

One side has a cell phone pouch and the other a coin purse. And that’s all before we even get inside. The perks keep on coming there too, with credit card slots and a clear window for your license or other ID.

But it is a small purse, the kind of accessory you might throw in the bottom of a tote, or carry when you only want to nip out for groceries and a coffee.

It’s not the most stylish or sumptuous accessory, although at $32 you probably weren’t expecting high class fashion. There’s a certain charm to the brand’s familiar floral prints though, and the plastic coated fabric is easy to keep clean.

The Mia isn’t likely to set the fashion world alike, but it will definitely find favor with busy bagistas.

It’s been a long time coming, but Alexander Wang will soon open the doors of his very own boutique.

The store, which will be located at 103 Grand Street in New York City, will be open for business by the end of the year.

Details are a bit thin at the moment, but Wang did open up about why he finds his new Big Apple home so appealing.

“It’s a perfect, iconic location, and there is a massive amount of windows,” he said before adding that the store will offer a “new perspective on luxury.“

That’s enough to intrigue me. By playing the mysterious card, I’m only more desperate to shop at the new store. New York is the perfect destination for Christmas shopping after all!

Who needs the pricy purses of Bottega Veneta? With the Vega satchel Elliott Lucca gives us all the looks of the luxury label’s woven leather purses at a mere $168.

Unlike many Bottega Veneta alternatives, Elliott Lucca uses real leather rather than a synthetic alternative to create this affordable satchel. It might not be a leather of the same quality of Bottega Veneta’s skins, but honestly when it’s tightly woven you’re hardly going to notice.

That woven texture is really the focus here. The shape is fairly standard for a satchel, and the Elliott Lucca nameplate small and discreet. It’s a matter of personal taste, but I don’t think we need bells and whistles here. The clean looks make the Vega a timeless purchase rather than a passing fad.

It’s called a medium satchel, but that’s only in relationship to the regular Vega. Personally I think this size is much more user-friendly. It’s large without being overwhelmingly so, and equipped with enough pockets to keep our items in order.

You’ll find the Vega in a choice of six colors including mattes and metallics. That should offer enough choice for even the fussiest of fashionistas!

I love the look of stingray, but I have two problems with it. The first problem I have with it is that it comes from a stingray, which seems semi-endangered to me, even if it’s not. The second is the price. The rarity of the skin makes it exorbitantly priced.

This great clutch by Halston Heritage bypasses both of those problems by using a faux skin. And even though it seems like stingray would be really hard to replicate, Halston has done an amazing job here. The sparkly, nubbly texture of this leather looks just like stingray to me, only perhaps slightly less rubbery.

The simple shape of the clutch lets the material take center stage. This is the kind of bag that won’t detract from your outfit by being too showy, but it’s special enough to hold its own. It’s also versatile in the sense that it would equally fabulous with an evening gown as it would with jeans.

At $195, the Susan is really a steal for a designer clutch. Even if it’s faux stingray, it’s still real leather, and the quality of the craftsmanship is very high. The combination of good design and affordability makes this clutch a total winner.
