I have a love/hate/love relationship to the Stella McCartney line. I love her dedication to animal rights, hate her use of sometimes chintzy materials, but love her clean, modern aesthetic. Luckily, the material choice on this new Falabella is beauty and fits the design perfectly.

I am, personally, not usually a fan of buoucle tweed, as it’s a little preppy for my taste, but on the color palette McCartney chose makes it look somewhat more exotic. The texture really shines through on the simple design, and the chain link edging adds a, well, edgy look to an otherwise conservative bag.

This new take on the Falabella looks like something Blair Waldorf would carry when she was hatching a devious plot. It’s preppy, but still cool. The simple design sets off the beautiful boucle and lets the chain link details make a solid statement. If this bag is any indication, fall is going to be beautiful at Stella McCartney.

$970 is a bit of a hefty price tag, but it’s not terrible for a designer bag that won’t lose its appeal for decades.

I have often been disappointed by Chloe’s See line, but I sense a change of fortunes is nigh. This great peony printed duffle is a great example of what the line can do when they try.

The fabric that this duffle is made of is super cool and very retro. It’s a printed wet look nylon that looks almost like bathing suit spandex. Honestly, you can’t really tell what the print is, but the overall appearance has an impressively holographic effect.

There are no bells and whistles on this bag. There’s also a beautiful lack of logos; just the small leather See By Chloe patch that tells you the label. There’s one conveniently located side pocket that would be great for stowing your water bottle on this ideal gym bag. I’m a little leery of the straps, which are a bit thin and flimsy for a bag you might want to stuff to the brim.

Okay, it’s not over-the-top extraordinary, but this duffle would make a fabulous addition to a hip, low key wardrobe. And at $220, it’s remarkably affordable.

Miu Miu is getting into the Olympic spirit with a capsule collection of metallic handbags.

These accessories in gold, silver, and bronze, the colors of the Olympic Games medals, make a welcome change from all the London focused accessories we’ve seen lately. Big Buddha’s created a clutch to take us from daytime errands to evenings out with the Patras.

The Patras has a fun casual look which will suit casual outings all year round. It’s made of synthetic, as most Big Buddha bags are, but the material’s much softer and plusher than most manmade skins.

I find myself drawn to this burnt orange hue, but it’s also quite lovely in green, mustard, or classic black. I’m not so sure about the tan tab and piping with either color, but it doesn’t dominate the design enough to turn me off.

The Patras is a much larger clutch than the average, but its functional features complement its generous dimensions. If you’re traveling light it’ll work as a traditional clutch, but once it becomes overloaded you can just add the strap. It’s adjustable too, so you the Patras can work as a shoulder bag or cross-body depending on your mood.

The practical perks don’t stop there though. The Patras’ interior is well appointed, with a zippered pocket in the back wall and two slips for gadgets. A zip running underneath the flap will keep your essential items safe and sound.

It’s not likely to inspire a case of handbag envy, but the Patras is a very versatile accessory with some real style about it. It’s rare to find such a compelling combination for just $79.95!

Prada seems strangely out of step with fashion with its Smoking Lips Wallet.

Gone are the days when cigarettes dangled alluring from every actor’s lips and lighting a smoke for an attractive woman was considered an intimate act. These days smokers are shunned, social pariahs forced to stand away from the group to indulge in their filthy habit. The practice is no longer cool or fashionable, so why do we see a pair of pouting lips provocatively puffing away on this Prada wallet?

I really can’t answer the question. It’s not just the pop art rendering that makes this graphic feel dated. Rather than lifting this fairly unremarkable wallet to the next level, it drags it down.

Of course this Prada purse is well made. We’d expect nothing less from this esteemed fashion house. It’s crafted from high quality red leather, and its zippers move smoothly through their teeth. It’s packed with the pockets and card slots we’d expect, and lined with hardy nylon. And perhaps most importantly, it bears the Prada name. But I can’t imagine that’s enough to convince most modern girls to spend $580 on this dated wallet.

Project Accessory mentor and founder of Vivre.com Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti has teamed up with New York & Co. for a new capsule fashion collection.

The collection will include apparel and accessories items. Jeanbart-Lorenzotti’s familiar snake motif promises to be woven through the range. Look for it on the closures of clutch purses and the bracelet cuffs.

Jeanbart-Lorenzetti says the collaboration with New York & Co. seemed natural as the Big Apple is her current home base, her favorite city, and a source of ongoing inspiration.

“Its color and movement provide endless excitement for me,” Jeanbart-Lorenzetti commented, adding that she hoped to embody the “city’s magnetism and style” in her limited edition pieces. Looking at the fringed bag pictured, do you think she achieved the New York look?

Perhaps it’s premature to judge on the basis of one piece, but I’m not so sure. This purse seems a little bohemian to me. When I imagine New York I think of a more sophisticated look with a real urban edge. I hope Jeanbart-Lorenzetti will prove me wrong and we’ll see more of that attitude rolled out across the rest of the collection.

Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti’s limited edition line will be available through New York & Co. stores across America, including its online outlet, this October.

I haven’t always warmed to metallic day bags, as they often appear too brash for daylight hours. But BCBGeneration hasn’t done a bad job here. The finish has that unmistakable sheen, but BCBGeneration’s given it a casual weathering which tempers its glitz. Its lines are also very clean and modern, so we don’t find ourselves distracted by too many details.

The Milla’s a good size for everyday use too. It’s roomy yet compact, so it doesn’t dominate an outfit or become unmanageable. I appreciate BCBGeneration keeping the organizational aids out of view. The exterior is clean and fashionable, while the interior is as functional as we could wish for. The dual handles look the part, but they’re not ideal when the satchel’s full. That’s when the longer shoulder strap comes in to play.

The Milla finish isn’t as luxurious as a bag from Max Azaria’s signature line, but it’s very well made. Each seam is double stitched, and the interior pockets are all trimmed with synthetic to help them last. That attention to detail ensures we’ll see value for our $108.

Owning a Bottega Veneta original just became a bit more affordable with the introduction of its new Intrecciolusion and Intrecciomirage lines.

The Intrecciolusion line’s accessories are crafted from twill printed with a pattern which mimics Bottega Veneta’s signature Intrecciato finish.

The Intrecciomirage line acts as a bridge between the Intrecciolusion and Intrecciato ranges. Its bags are made from a thinner nappa leather than the Intrecciato purses. Rather than the actual weave as we see in the high priced line, it features engraving which mimics the iconic Bottega Veneta surface.

Both new collections feature a range of accessories, from wallets to large everyday totes and shoulder bags, in a diverse selection of colors.

The choice of materials and clever production methods sees the new Bottega Veneta collections priced at far less than its signature range. You can snap up an Intrecciolusion tote for just $490, and score a Intrecciomirage cross-body for $980. I still wouldn’t call them cheap bags, but they’re a lot more attainable than the four-figured Intrecciato purses.

Girls on a budget will likely embrace this chance to own a piece of Bottega Veneta. But I wonder whether offering more affordable bags will put a dent in the high-end fashion house’s reputation. We don’t see Hermes providing cut-price options after all. What’s your take?
