Marc Jacobs has gone high tech with the launch of its first e-commerce website.
It’s hard to believe that the iconic American brand hasn’t made the foray into the world of e-sales before. At least it’s doing it in a big way now, with a site that’s fun as well as functional.
The smiling virtual doorman and sales assistants really make this place feel like home. I also like the way the site combines cute cartoon graphics with chic video footage.
The e-commerce website features a small range of products right now which has been hand-picked by Marc Jacobs’ execs. It’s an interesting approach; while it may be overwhelming to see everything Marc Jacobs has here, it does mean the site isn’t really an ultimate shopping destination.
But perhaps we should see it as more than simply a shopping site. I particularly like the “World of Marc Jacobs” section, which features news, videos from the catwalk, advertisements, and video profiles of Marc Jacobs employees.
Gadget loving girls will be happy to know the site has been optimized for the iPhone and the iPad, so they can shop for Marc Jacobs on the go. Will you take advantage of the new technology, or would you prefer to shop the old fashioned way?

Some may disagree, but I think everyone should have a little glitz in their life. And this Heart Mirrors tote from the relatively affordable Marc by Marc Jacobs line is a great way to get it.
Burberry Prorsum is Burberry’s experimental line. I have always thought that it was more interesting than the brand’s standard fare, as it is more fanciful and bizarre. This Cadet bag certainly lives up to my expectations, in a beautiful and unusual way.
I should admit right off the bag that Michael Kors is not one of my favorite designers. I find that, most of the time, his designs are watered-down versions of the trends, and not in a classic sort of way. Also, I’m not always sure about the quality of his heavily mass-produced pieces. Which is why I was surprised by my almost entirely positive reaction to this Hadley tote.
This is, hands down, one of the wackiest handbag designs that I have seen in a long while!
If you’ve always dreamed of owning a Maddalena Marconi accessory but couldn’t justify the thousands that they cost, I may have the answer. Feast your eyes on this elegant satin clutch, which is relatively affordable at $325.
Newspapers needn’t become landfill once the stories get old.
I’ve always admired Mad by Designs quirky accessories made with unusual materials like horn, mother of pearl, and eco-friendly bamboo. So I was a bit surprised to see this tote come from the same label.
