“I’m causing a stir without even trying.” Apparently that is what the Santorini clutch manages, at least according to the product blurb.

OK, taking the mickey out of this purse aside, I can kind of see what the marketing means. There is a certain understated quality about the plain beige synthetic leather, which manages to be incredibly subtle. Then again, the knotted details around the top and the gold hardware definitely try their best to make it fashionable, and without meaning to you look kind of on trend. Thus causing a stir, without evening trying.

Of course, the ruching would be a little bit sexier if it was genuine leather, even though you might not expect that for the affordable price.  Rampage does at least include a chain handle, and personally I think the fine chain is much nicer than some of the gaudier versions out there.

This is a smart convertible clutch with some pretty details.

Why is it that Miu Miu’s line of handbags is totally uneven, but its wallets are always spot on? Perhaps because wallets are such a utilitarian accessory that it knows not to try to take them over the top? I’m not really sure what the reason is, but I’m thankful it’s true, nonetheless. This crocodile stamped leather wallet would make a great addition to your everyday arsenal of accessories.

Crocodile skin is difficult to replicate, and you can usually tell the real thing over a fake pretty instantly. This wallet is no exception. The many-sized stamped scales are just too small too be authentic. That being said, even though the croc-embossing doesn’t look real, it does look good. The pale gray color is very now, but not in a way that will look dated next year.

This classically-styled wallet has two main compartments. One is a pouch pocket with a clasp closure, perfect for coins and other jingly little things. The other pocket has two rows of card slots and a wide patch pocket for paper money.

Honestly, at $530, I think this wallet is a little overpriced, but it’s a sophisticated accessory that will serve you well.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line has a way of making even the most utilitarian accessories colorful and fun. This leaf print laptop sleeve is a colorful and fashionable way to add a little fun to your laptop.

We’ve been seeing this abstract leaf print on a lot of Marc’s accessories this season. Frankly, I haven’t loved it on totes or bags, but it looks pretty cool on this laptop case. What’s the difference, you may wonder. Well, the difference is that laptop bags are, by nature, pretty utilitarian. Once you’ve seen one neoprene sleeve, you’ve pretty much seen them all. But this colorful print adds a little flair to the whole endeavor.

The sleeve itself is pretty standard, which is a good thing, I think. The simple, quilted design is slim and practical. The quilted nylon may not be waterproof, exactly, but it will protect your computer from minor spills. It’s also thick enough to keep your laptop safe from dings and scratches.

At $100, this laptop sleeve is more than I would spend on myself, but it’s a cool cover that would make a great holiday gift for a woman with a playful sense of style.

Alexander Wang’s day bags have quickly become favorite accessories of style icons like Christina Aguilera, Blake Lively, and Nicole Ritchie. So it’s disappointing to see the designer delivering something as lackluster as this Dionne clutch.

There’s a fine line between traditional and tired of course, but I think Alexander Wang has come down on the wrong side of things. It would take more than the simple belt for this basic black clutch to excite me. The natural grained leather is lovely, but it’s also not very inspiring.

Despite its framed design, this purse has a real slouch to it. This is unusual for a clutch purse, and probably relegates it to daytime use. It should make carrying it a bit more comfortable, which is a blessing in the absence of a shoulder strap. However, I think I’d prefer more sophisticated style.

If you travel light though you’ll probably get a lot of use from this. Black is so easy to coordinate with any outfit, and the zip pocket inside is very sensible. The Dionne doesn’t rock my world, but if you’re an Alexander Wang fan you might not mind shelling out $650 for it.

After lusting after so many quirky handbags from Alexander McQueen, I was surprised to see this Mini Book clutch amongst the late designer’s last collection. It’s just so traditional and reserved; it’s hard to believe it came from the same man that gave us skull adorned box clutches. But adjust your expectations a little and it’s easy to warm to this classic purse.

It looks like glossy crocodile skin, but this purse is actually made from embossed black leather. It does a convincing imitation of the exotic skin, but this hide is more durable than real reptile would be. That’s a good thing too, because a basic black bag like this will always find a place in your evening wardrobe.

The styling is minimal, with just a pair of golden bars to hold the triangular flap in place. A magnetic clasp gives us some extra security. That simplicity extends to the interior, where we have just a small open pocket for holding our credit cards and receipts. This space is a bit larger than I expected thanks to the accordion design, but it could never be called opulent.

This is a beautiful little purse, but I wonder whether Alexander McQueen has done enough to justify that hefty $1115 price tag. Given its simplicity, I have a feeling bargain hunters could find something similar for a lot less.

American actress Eva Longoria has joined a host of French celebrities in donating handbags for an online French charity auction.

The casual black snake-embossed messenger pictured has been generously donated by the Desperate Housewives star. I can’t place the designer, but it’s a lovely thing. This purse joins ones from a who’s who of the French style world, including actresses Elsa Zylberstein, Vahina Giocante, and Sonia Rolland.

This is the second annual auction held on French website instantluxe.com to raise funds for Paris Tout P’tits. This non-profit organization gives food and hygienic products to babies in need.

The Paris Tout P’tits/InstantLuxe auction kicks off tomorrow and runs until December 5. Bids will start at 100 euros, which is equivalent to around $132 US. Bids are welcome from all parts of the world, but you may need to know a bit of French to get around the site. Gonzalez allows the beauty of the material show through by not muddying up the design with any ornamentation.

At $3,750, this drawstring carryall is a significant investment, but not prohibitively priced for an exotic-skinned designer bag. I’d say that Ms. Gonzalez has drummed up another winning design on this one.
