According to Greek legend, Pandora released all the world’s evils when she opened the forbidden box. Thankfully opening this Givenchy bag which shares her name is much safer!

I can’t see a lot of ancient Greece in this bag, but there is a classic sophistication about it. Its unusual angular shape is tempered by the use of black leather and clean, uncluttered features. That leather does have a bit of a sheen to it, but it’s nowhere near as glossy as a patent would be. This lustrous skin is paired with polished hardware.

The Pandora’s shape is really quite clever, because while it’s eye-catching it doesn’t compromise the bag’s storage potential. It’s a great size for everyday use, just inching towards too big without ever getting there. Given its large stature I’m glad we can attach a longer strap for easy carrying when we’re on the go.

I’m not sure whether the Pandora is worth its big $1875 ticket but it is a Givenchy bag. Those kind of price tags are par for the course, and if you’re a fan you won’t mind shelling out the big bucks for this striking messenger.

Okay, I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of pink, in general. But this coral color is rich and bright and beautiful. If you’re looking to add a happy pop of color to your wardrobe, this will more than do the trick. The texture of the leather is luxe and nubby, but with a smooth finish.

The shape of this cross body bag is a perfect little pouch. You can also detach the strap and carry it as a clutch if you like, which makes it a very versatile wardrobe option. The front and back slit pockets are great for stowing little items like receipts and gift cards that are always floating around in bags. The petite size doesn’t allow for for overfilling, but it’s ample enough for a day’s worth of necessities.

At $245, this is a solid purchase. Since it can be carried two ways, it’s versatile. And the color makes it totally fun. What more could you ask for?

Michael Kors’ winter line has been remarkably interesting. At least that’s the case for me, as I’m not usually a fan of the line, but I am starting to come around. This mini flap satchel is a good example of why I’m beginning to change my mind.

The color of the croc-embossed leather is a rich, nutty brown. Unfortunately, it’s not the most interesting color for crocodile, but it is very versatile. Michael Kors really has a way with the faux reptile skins, and this one is no exception. The texture is spot on.

The satchel has a nostalgic shape that I just love. It reminds me of the little cross body bags that hipsters carried in the 70s. It’s just big enough for a few necessities, but small enough to be the perfect punctuation on a low key outfit.

Frankly, I feel a little conflicted about the $495 price tag. On the one hand, it’s not unreasonable or unusual for a designer bag, but on the other, it’s a little small to warrant it.

Miu Miu’s past few seasons have been extremely unreliable. Even still, this fringed linen bag is a disappointment.

The fabric is luxe and nice, and has a lovely natural finish. But don’t get me started on the fringe. It just makes what could be a simple, lovely bag into something that looks unfinished and sloppy. I guess it’s supposed to be artfully deconstructed, but it just doesn’t turn out that way.

The shape is fine, but it’s a little over-sized, which doesn’t help in the sloppiness factor. The lack of a full top zipper adds to the unstructured look. The gold hardware isn’t doing much for the look, and neither is the terrible heart-shaped hang tag. I guess I don’t have anything good to say about this bag, particularly when it comes to the $895 price tag. I just don’t know what Miu Miu is thinking here.

Until a few months ago, I hadn’t heard of Vanessa Bruno. Since then, she’s wowed me with her low key bohemian classics. This steel blue suede bag is one of my favorites thus far.

Seriously, what could be better than this awesome blue gray color? It’s got all the neutrality of gray, but with a touch of color that makes it special. The suede is super soft and supple, and has just the right amount of slouch to make the bag work perfectly.

The shape is pretty unusual too. The unique double flap front design works well with the slouchy hobo shape. The front seaming design adds a lot of interest to the front of the bag, and the tassels bring your eye right to the center. The cross body design looks totally on trend without taking away from the bag’s classic appeal.

At $860, I think this bag is a little pricey for such a casual design, but it’s definitely worthwhile if you’ve got the cash.

There’s something magical about the swirling crystal patterns gracing this luxury clutch purse from Giuseppe Zanotti.

The scrolling silvery pattern reminds us of the kind of thing we might see on a fortune teller’s cape or a wizard’s cloak. The silvery crystals look so whimsical against the plush black suede. They’re really what makes this simple, pouch shaped purse something special. Can you imagine how boring it’d be without them?

Sadly, you needn’t just imagine. Simply turn the purse over and you’ll see just how plain a crystal-free clutch appears. How ho-hum. I might have expected this kind of corner cutting on a cheap purse, but not one costing a whopping $1095.

I suppose the soft suede strap is a draw card, as it helps the clutch convert to a shoulder bag without irritating our shoulders. I also love the pretty engraves buckles that secure it to the side of the purse.

But loving it enough to spend more than a thousand dollars on it? That’s another matter entirely. This is a lovely clutch purse but, as is all too often the case with Giuseppe Zanotti accessories, it’s also an overpriced one.

The store will donate 10% of each sale to the United Way of Lake County, a charity which focuses on improving the local community through educational and family-focused programs. Until I looked at the price tag I couldn’t believe this sophisticated hobo bag came from Giorgio Armani’s affordable diffusion line. It’s so stylish and of such superior quality, it seems a steal at $280!

There’s so much to like here, starting with that rich teal color. It’s so deep that it’s almost a neutral, so we can easily work it into our wardrobe while enjoying something more exciting than standard black or brown. The teal leather is complemented by wintery suede trim around the handles, flap, and base. Suede notoriously shows wear quickly, but by using it sparingly Armani makes sure this purse looks good for longer.

The teal shade is the ideal background for that shiny golden hardware. The metal really pops against the jewel-toned leather, making the purse appear that much richer. I’m also enamored with the handle. Who would have thought simply adding a few knots would make it appear so modern? I’m not sure how comfortable those knots will make carrying, but I’m willing to suffer a little for this dramatic look. At least there’s another long strap available if it needles your shoulder.

Many designers spend so much time on the exterior they forget about what’s inside. But not Armani, who offers all the pockets and space we need to get through the day.

Honestly I’m trying hard to find anything wrong with this purse. Perhaps it’s one of those rare creatures without flaws, or perhaps its chic looks have blinded me!
