Although the shape of this Kooba Sam clutch does make it a bit different, it is safe to say that it would be kind of boring without any decoration. Sure, you’d still have the interesting seaming on that soft leather body, but if we are honest there are plenty of leather bags out there that do a similar job.

It is those eyelets, therefore, that make this convertible clutch more interesting. Perhaps Kooba has taken it a little too far with the number of eyelets it has crammed on, but kudos to the label for daring to try and do something a little different. Whether it works or not is up to you!

The convertible aspect of this leather clutch comes with the long shoulder strap. In my opinion it will work better as a cross body, as the spacious shape could be hard to clutch for long periods of time. Still, it is nice to have both options!

Your favorite piece of technology is likely to be the most stylish one on the block when you carry it in this sequined clutch purse.

The clutch is designed to hold either an iPhone or Blackberry. Whatever your poison, this exotically sequined purse makes a feminine change to the typical tech accessories. In fact, I could definitely imagine it doing double duty as a regular clutch purse on a special evening out.

The exotic beading and sequined finish points to this purse’s Indian heritage. India doesn’t have the best reputation for quality craftsmanship, so don’t be surprised if some of that sparkle comes loose before too long.

While I’m griping it’s also worth noting a few other niggles. There is no shoulder strap, and not even any interior pockets to help us stay organized. Perhaps we’re better off thinking of this as a tech case rather than a clutch purse; as the former it measures up, but when compared to other clutches it’s a bit lacking.

For a mere $20 though, I don’t mind KC Malhan cutting a few corners. After all, it won’t break the bank when you need to replace it, and while it holds up it’ll look fabulous!

Karl Lagerfeld has added another feather to his cap, adding filmmaker to his already impressive list of credentials. The indomitable Mr. L is behind this new short film to promote Chanel, called Window World.

Models Magdalena Frackowiak, Barbara Dvorakova, and Baptiste Giabiconi star as real life mannequins alongside a swag of creepy store dummies. There’s some kind of mannequin love story, which is nowhere near as charming as the Andrew McCarthy film of the 80s. But this isn’t the kind of movie designed to send hearts racing; we all know it’s simply a way to move products.

We’ve seen more designers creating these kind of avante garde short films of late, from Christian Dior’s Lady Dior series to Proenza Schouler’s recent eerie PS1 advertisement. At a mere $28, Kavu’s commitment to quality is both unexpected and welcome. Taken for what it is, this purse is destined to become a wardrobe staple.

Miu Miu has opened a new store in Hangzhou, its fourth retail outlet in China.

The new boutique, located in the exclusive MixC Mall, was designed by Miu Miu’s favorite architect Roberto Baciocchi. It spans a whopping 215 square meters, which seems all the more impressive as it sprawls out on a single level. The store’s exterior is just as dazzling, with three elevations, backlit golden damask, and polished brass Miu Miu logos.

The brand new Miu Miu retail store will sell the Italian fashion house’s famous ready-to-wear apparel, iconic handbags, footwear, and its other accessories.

And it wouldn’t be an opening without an exclusive handbag release. In this case it’s the luxe cloqué patent leather clutch pictured, with its jeweled turn-lock clasp and spangled shoulder strap! The purse is only available from the Hangzhou store, which is as good a reason as any to treat yourself to a Chinese vacation!

Kathy Van Zeeland offers her take on tribal trends with this Afrique-Chic Drawstring Tote.

She’s certainly hit on the tribal look, but this tote isn’t as chic as its name suggests. In fact, it seems like a bit of a mish-mash with animal printed appliqués, different colored metallic skins, and studs all thrown into the mix. I think Kathy Van Zeeland was aiming for edgy, but the look is so confused that it seems to lack that vision.

That lack of vision extends to the interior. The dainty blue art deco printed fabric is pretty, but it’s also befuddling. Leopard spots or tiger stripes I could have understood. Even basic black would have made sense. But this is just another element that doesn’t seem to mesh.

It’s a shame, because when you strip away all the aesthetic problems this isn’t a badly designed tote. It’s got the right amount of space for daily use, and its array of zip and slip pockets are just what we need to stay organized. Add two handy slide pockets at the sides and a pair of long, useable handles, and we’re ready to face the day.

Well, almost. It’ll take some careful planning to strike on the right outfit to team with this flamboyant tote. My advice is to go neutral and let this loud bag do all the talking!

Marc Jacobs has always been one of my favorite designers, but even I am totally blown away by this spectacular JJ clutch. It’s something between a work of art and a fashion accessory, and a lot of beautiful in between.

There is so much awesome going on on this clutch that I almost don’t know where to start. First of all, the stamped ivory patent material is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Instead of opting for a faux finish, the texture is more abstract, like a plate of melted gumballs, and it looks absolutely perfect. Then there’s the clearly spectacular starburst of acrylic gemstones exploding from the center of the JJ like a modernist sculpture.

Marc Jacobs kept the shape of the JJ nice and simple so that all these wonderful details could shine through, but the bag is not without its purely practical touches, like the sleek detachable gold strap and interior card pockets. Seriously, I have been looking for an evening bag with card pockets my whole life and that’s no lie. What could be more convenient?

Truthfully, I love the JJ so much that I wouldn’t care how much it cost, but for $750, I think it’s a total steal. Not because it’s classic and will go with everything, but because it’s a total collector’s item.

Christian Louboutin’s sophisticated style has seduced fashionistas the world over. On this Suola tote, he brings elegance to an everyday basic.

There’s something very delicious about the color palette on the Suola. It reminds me of vanilla bean ice cream with a swirl of raspberry sherbet. If you’re in one of America’s frozen tundras right now, that may not sound very appetizing, but it surely will come spring.

I’m crazy for the voluptuous design of the Suola. It manages to be both structured and ultra-feminine at the same time. The sturdy canvas has beautifully scalloped edges trimmed in pink leather, and the front seam trim enhances the look. Even the bottom edges of the bag are subtly rounded, so that the design of the bag looks totally consistent.

I don’t usually recommend buying a canvas bag at this price point, but I’m going to make an exception here, since it has a lot of bells and whistles that your everyday tote just doesn’t have, like a full lining and top zipper. If you have $695 to spend and a flirty sense of style, the Suola is a great choice.

Whilst there is always a risk with embroidery of it coming apart, it seems worth the worry, as the gold thread stands out beautifully against the velvet. All in all, this is yet another pretty purse from Menbur.
