Harveys is celebrating its 15th year creating bags from seatbelts with the release of a limited edition purse, a bamboo-handled hobo and some fun new colors.

The 15th Anniversary Satchel is a bit of a blast from the past, as it features the label’s first print, the SeatbeltBug. The creepy crawly pattern is given a modern makeover with Harveys new blue lagoon color. The Anniversary Satchel is pretty reasonable for a bag marking a milestone at just $138.

If you love the lagoon hue but aren’t a fan of the Anniversary Satchel, don’t worry. This new color is available on a range of totes, a wallet, and a make-up case. Bold magenta and black and white patchwork bags in the same shapes are also new this season.

It’s not a limited edition line, but it’d be remiss not to mention Harveys new Bamboo Stella Hobo. While it’s nowhere near as luxurious, the label clearly takes inspiration from Gucci’s bamboo handled bags. It might not be as opulent as a high-end handbag, but the espresso color and distinctive carry strap give it a bit more class than your average Harveys accessory.

Lodis adds a bit of sparkle to our everyday with this fun Spring Mix Sydney Wallet.

Its name is a bit of a mouthful, but perhaps the only things you need know is that this is a very pink but very practical purse. I also love the two bill compartments, which allow us to separate our paper money from our receipts. There’s also a zippered pocket for holding loose change.

The Spring Mix Sydney is so pretty that it seems a shame to hide it away inside a larger bag. If you agree then why not add the detachable wrist strap? This handy loop helps us easily turn this wallet into a wristlet.

Louis Vuitton disappointed many customers recently when it discontinued its special order service. However it seems they’ve got a new reason to smile, as it’s been superseded by the introduction of Louis Vuitton Haute Maroquinerie in its most prestigious flagship stores.

Haute Maroquinerie, which translates to high leather goods, allows customers to create a personalized Louis Vuitton bag. Shoppers choose from a range of pre-selected shapes, colors, and leathers to design a purse that’s all their own.

Personally I’d love to play with the Milaris silhouette pictured, but customers could also choose the Lockit, Neo-Steamer, Noe, or Triangle. If you thought that decision was tough, you’re in trouble. After that you’ll choose from several sizes, eight premium leathers (including envious crocodile skin), and more than 25 hues, from the elegant to the outrageous. The bags are almost entirely handmade to specification before the shopper’s name is engraved inside.

The Haute Maroquinerie design rooms are a great concept, but they’re not available to all customers. The service is only offered at selected Maison stores and flagship boutiques, including Louis Vuitton’s Paris, Milan, Taipei and Sydney stores. It’s also expected to be introduced into London’s Bond Street boutique and the rest of the Maison stores in the near future.

Liz Claiborne shows its playful side with the Jen Shopper.

The colorblocked finish gives this simple shopping bag some real punch. The girly girl in me can’t help but be drawn to this navy and pink version but there’s also a gentle lemon yellow and seaglass green alternative, as well as a neutral black and dune one, on offer. The range of color combos might be small but they provide such distinct looks that there should be one to please everybody.

The Jen’s fun colorblocked exterior is matched with a surprisingly well designed interior. This shopper appears so simple that I really wasn’t expecting much. But the spacious main compartment is made much smarter with a pair of zippered pockets and a small cell phone pouch. A zip running across the top keeps all your purchases and everyday essentials safe and secure.

At just $30 the Jen is affordable, but there’s an element of getting what you pay for. Its canvas is quite flimsy, so the shopper doesn’t really hold its shape or sit up as more high-end bags do. A heftier canvas would have made all the difference.

Linea Pelle takes whipstitching out of the country with this urban Jules Cross-Body.

I really like the way the label cleverly interlinks the whipstitching and silver hardware. The effect is edgy without being obnoxious, strong and confident but not brash. Black leather would have been an obvious choice for such a bold look, but I’m glad Linea Pelle’s taken things down a few notches and opted for brown.

The Jules is a sizable purse for one of this ilk, but it has the features to match its generous dimensions. The interior has a zippered pocket in the back wall and a few slip pouches for holding small gadgets and sunglasses.

Linea Pelle calls the Jules a cross-body, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Linea Pelle’s offered not one but two carrying options. The wrist loop is cute and casual, perfect for busy days. The cross-body strap is a bit more chic, but it’d suit daytime use too with the right outfit. Or you could do away with the straps completely and carry this purse clutch-style.

$295 is quite reasonable for any leather cross-body bag, but for a bag with the Jules’ versatility it’s a steal.

Fiona Kotur’s joined forces with Rachel Roy and J.Crew for two fun new fall 2012 Kotur capsule collections.

The collaborative lines offer two very distinctive looks. The Rachel Roy collaboration is a bit bolder than many fans might expect of Kotur. An art deco style black and gold envelope clutch and a peacock feather decorated box purse showcase the line’s playful vintage feel.

With its J.Crew collaboration Kotur returns to her softer, more feminine aesthetic. There’s plenty of lace and sparkle designed to appeal to all American girls.

Personally I find the latest J.Crew for Kotur range much more interesting than the one the pairing produced late last year. While the first line was sophisticated it was also a bit safe. Here it seems the designers have let loose a little without losing their creative vision. If they can continue to produce capsule collections like this, I hope we see more J.Crew and Kotur pairings in the seasons to come!

Designer collaborations are fast becoming the norm, but I can’t recall a label releasing two simultaneously before. They’re not always successful, but I think Rachel Roy and  J.Crew have brought out the best in Kotur.

Lily Waters serves up another colorful quilted handbag with this Casey cross-body.

In many ways this is more of the same from the designer many hail as the new Vera Bradley. We’ve seen her work with vibrant quilted cloths many times before, However its cross-body configuration gives the Casey its point of difference. It’s petite and lightweight, so you’ll barely know it’s there as you’re running errands.

While the Casey’s small stature ensures we’re not weighed down, it also limits storage space. The material does allow us to overstuff it a little, but there’s only so much you can fit in a purse this size. Some customers have criticized the lack of organizational features, but personally I feel that’s a blessing. The pockets are kept to the exterior, ensuring the already small main compartment doesn’t feel overly cluttered. A space so small can really take care of itself.

There’s an element of getting what you pay for here. The Casey won’t wow anyone, but it also costs just $26. If you’re on a budget this bag might be just what you need.

Burberry is the latest fashion firm to score a win against counterfeiters. The British company was recently awarded more than $100 million in damages against a network of Chinese based counterfeiters running an online racket.

The accused reportedly sold at least 22 fashion items modelled after Burberry products and bearing the label’s trademarks. Yesburberryvision.com and buyburberry are amongst the sites slammed by the lawsuit.

It seems the defendants have no answers to the charges. They failed to answer the complaint which was filed in January, and they didn’t even appear in court. Without any words of defence it was an open and shut case for the judge, who awarded Burberry Inc. $100 million, along with any money in the defendants’ PayPal accounts.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen judges promise damages held by third-party accounts in these kinds of cases. It’s been an important development as it’s notoriously difficult to get money from these overseas based online operations.

Burberry has also been awarded a permanent injunction against the offending websites. Their domain names will also be transferred to Burberry, and search engines and prominent social networks will no longer promote the sites.

If all this is sounding like déjà vu it may be because the verdict is virtually identical to the one a Manhattan judge handed down for Hermes a few weeks ago. It’s further evidence that counterfeiting won’t be tolerated by the world’s legal systems.

LeSportsac helps us ring in summer with nautical style with this Regatta Shoulder Bag.

The Regatta has a casual style, but it’s more sophisticated than many of LeSportsac’s designs. The cutesy prints the label often employs are replaced with wide horizontal stripes. I like this pretty green and white color scheme, but it’s also available in a bolder red and white version if you prefer. The stripes make this rucksack style nylon bag seem a bit more chic.

Its nylon body isn’t quite as sophisticated, but it’s a smart choice. The material will repel water and withstand harsh coastal elements. It also keeps the price down, which is always a consideration for summer vacationers!

The Regatta’s drawstring is a bit fiddly but I appreciate what it brings to this relaxed style. If you’d rather not fuss with it you can always put your everyday items in the external pocket.

I can imagine carrying the Regatta on a sailing vacation around the Maldives or the Caribbean. Of course one look at my budget suggests it’s more likely to serve me at my local beach!

Either way, at $78 this summery LeSportsac bag represents great value.

A pop of acid color gives this Vivi clutch from Lauren Merkin a fun day to night appeal.

I love the way the bold green and blue patches contrast with the Vivi’s gentle monochromatic scales. They’re not real snake scales mind you, but for this price I hardly care. At $295 we get the looks of real python without the gaping hole in our finances!

The Vivi has a cute, clutchable shape which is incredibly ergonomic. That’s a good thing too, because Lauren Merkin hasn’t provided a shoulder strap. While the Vivi’s really easy to carry, I think I’d still miss a chain. After all, what’s a girl to do once the trays or champagne and canapés start circling?

The Vivi’s a little larger than most clutch purses, so we should be able to carry it during the day or night. It’s too small to become anyone’s go to bag, but it’s perfect for meeting up for coffee or running a couple of errands.

When most Lauren Merkin purses suit after five wear, it’s refreshing to see one that’s a bit more versatile. Has it snaked its way into your heart?
