The artistic pairing was announced some five months ago, and now Louis Vuitton has finally revealed images from its long awaited collaborative capsule collection with Yayoi Kusama.

The Japanese artist has long been enamoured with dots, so it’s unsurprising to see the accent celebrated on this shift dress, baguette bag, and even the bow decorated shoes. It’s probably a bit too much to pair all these spotty items together in the real world, but this image certainly makes a style statement!

I can’t imagine glaring like the model in the photo while wearing such a happy ensemble though. How could you resist smiling while wearing such a playful get-up? Maybe she’s just disgruntled that the outfit seems a little over the top!

The complete Yayoi Kasuma for Louis Vuitton collection will feature apparel items and accessories, and probably a lot more polka dots!

With the release of the images Louis Vuitton’s finally indicated when we can expect to see these items in store. The first wave, which will include ready-to-wear apparel and small accessories, will hit stores on July 10. Bag lovers may want to save their money though, as I hear many more purses will join the line in October.

I love Lulu Guinness’ whimsical approach to fashion, but sometimes her trademark red lips start feeling a bit tired. So I’m thrilled to see her looking elsewhere for inspiration with this Lily Cat Shopper.

There’s nothing fancy about this black canvas shopper, but its bold cat design should endear it to feline lovers. I love the way the gray cat’s head peeks up from the base of the bag. Art snobs might say it’s drawn a bit crudely, but I think the shopper is stronger for the cartoonish illustration.

The simple exterior is matched by a very basic interior. Personally I think it’s a bit too basic. The patch pocket isn’t nearly as effect as a zippered one would have been. It’s also the lone organizational aid, which makes this large shopper seem lacking. I also wish there was some kind of closure to protect our purchases. A zip across the top or even a magnetic snap would have made all the difference.

At $86.97 this Lily Cat Shopper is quite affordable, but without any real practical perks we can hardly call it a bargain. I don’t expect that to deter cat lovers though!

Lifestyle brand Gola has created a bag for the packrats with the release of its new Redford Supersize.

The Redford Supersize takes up where the label’s flagship Redford design left off. That iconic bag has been in production since the 1970s, which is a testament to its enduring popularity. Of course women in that decade didn’t need to worry about lugging around a laptop, gym gear, or any of the other gadgets modern women do, so it makes sense to upsize the bag now.

The messenger’s newest incarnation has all of the features that made the Redford popular, just on a much larger scale. Happily the extra dimensions don’t drive the price up too much either. The Redford Supersize is reasonably priced at just ₤30, just a fiver more than the standard model. It’s available in classic color combinations including red and white, black and white, and navy and white.

The release of the Redford Supersize comes at an exciting time for Gola. The label’s celebrating its 107th birthday this week, a milestone which comes hot on the heels of the opening of its new Barcelona store. Its recently released range of bags produced in collaboration with Sheffield designer Tado is also flying off the shelves.

Lucky Brand cashes in on the tribal trend with this Ikat Sling Hobo.

Perhaps it’s a bit cynical to suggest Lucky Brand’s simply following fashion here, but I’m not seeing a lot of flair. The ikat print is really strong, especially in this bold blue and black, but this bag doesn’t have much else going for it. Perhaps we should be grateful that Lucky Brand hasn’t overcomplicated the design and made it too kitschy, but I still find myself craving something more than this very simple sling hobo.

Lucky Brand goes some way towards appeasing me with the well-designed interior. The trio of pockets is what we expect from a traditional tote, but it seems a bonus on a bag with such basic styling. I also quite like the exterior pockets, which are subtly incorporated into the design and deep enough for safely stashing the items we want on hand.

It’s hard to get too critical about a bag that costs just $99. It’s on trend and made to last, even if it isn’t very luxurious. If you’re looking for a bag that’s fashionable without any frills, this Ikat Sling Hobo might be the one for you.

Lovcat combines the past and present for this unusual Vintage Frame Clutch.

In the hands of a better designer, the unique blend of old and new might have appeared quirky or playful. However here I think it’s just a bit confused. Traditional elements like the burnished metal frame, kiss-lock clasp, and black textured leather give this purse a classic base. But the grommets that run along the bottom and metal hearts hanging from the bow never quite gel with the rest of the design. I suppose it’s a bit of fun, but I don’t think it makes a cohesive style statement.

At least Lovcat packs this purse with features. It’s a decent size for a clutch, so the dual compartment design and zippered interior pocket come in handy. I also appreciate the removable shoulder strap, even if I wish it weren’t so skinny! Just make sure you don’t overload this purse to ensure it doesn’t tug at your shoulder.

Its materials might justify this Vintage Frame Clutch’s $199 price tag, but it doesn’t look as chic as a purse that costs this much should. Has it won you over?

Dancing with the Stars professional Karina Smirnoff is cleaning out her closet for a good cause. The ballroom dancer has listed many designer apparel items and accessories through new shopping site HipSwap.com. Proceeds from the sale will benefit one of her favorite charities, AIM.

I can’t imagine how Smirnoff can bear to part with many of these items, but her generosity means we can enjoy some great bargains. She’s selling a Fendi Spy bag for $550, Mark Nason cowboy boots for $250, and one of her famous ball gowns for $160.

Smirnoff says she hopes shoppers will enjoy her treasures and “make memories with them,” although she concedes that not all the pieces will appeal to everybody.

“Dancing with the Stars is not known for wearing a lot of clothing,” she quipped.

No doubt AIM, which stands for Alternative Intervention Models, hopes fashion fans spend up big on Smirnoff’s stylish items. The charity works tirelessly to bring arts initiatives to children from poor families. Smirnoff has a long association with the non-profit organization. For several years she’s led dance classes and even participated in AIM performances alongside the charity’s young charges.

Louis Vuitton is one of the world’s leading fashion houses, but I find its accessories a bit hit and miss. Its signature printed purses appear tired and out of step, but its more minimalist designs make me weak at the knees. Perhaps that’s why I’m contemplating investing far too much money in this Montaigne clutch!

She is a beauty, isn’t she? Louis Vuitton’s woodgrain Epi leather is gentle contrasted with a plain matte flap. The ivory colored leather is a lovely complement to the chunky silver hardware. The sexy curves and large push lock closure feel very modern, yet the Montaigne still somehow seems timeless. This is the kind of purse that will turn heads now and well into the future.

I appreciate the Montaigne’s versatility. In the picture it’s a shoulder bag. But as that strap’s removable, we can also convert it into a typical clutch for after five wear. Or for a more casual look, why not clip one side and turn it into a wristlet?

I know $1100 is probably too expensive for this purse. Louis Vuitton always charges a premium for anything bearing its name. Yet I still find myself drawn to it. Perhaps if we consider it three bags in one we might imagine it’s good value!

Material Girl is sticking to its pop music roots, announcing Georgia May Jagger as its new face and ambassador. The daughter of Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger takes over from its previous musically connected models Kelly Osbourne and Taylor Momsen.

Jagger says it was “truly amazing” to be handpicked by Madonna and her daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon for the job.

“I’ve always admired Madonna’s style and I’m thrilled to be working with them,” she added.

Jagger might still be living in her father’s shadow but this is far from her first modelling gig. She’s already graced the front covers of several leading fashion magazines including Vogue, ELLE, and Harper’s Bazaar, walked the runway at Chanel’s recent cruise show in France, and fronted campaigns for Rimmel and Hudson Jeans. No doubt this latest global advertising gig will see her star further rising.

The pop family’s mommy and daughter Material Girl line is currently available in North America exclusively through Macy’s stores, including its online outlet. Fans in Jagger’s native United Kingdom will also be able to shop for Material Girl apparel and accessories in their country from the end of June.

Longchamp might be an esteemed fashion house, but honestly I’ve never warmed to its designs. They always seemed a bit samey, and lacking in any real flair. However it seems it designed the Cosmos on a good day. Saying it’s out of this world would be overstating the point, but this is definitely one of the fashion house’s better accessories.

There’s something so alluring about a bright, white leather handbag like this. Its lines are elegantly clean and its finish so refined that it’d never look out of place. Its domed shape is a true classic, ensuring we can wear this bag well after we’ve purchased it.

The Cosmos is amply sized for everyday use, ensuring we can fit everything we need inside it without being tempted to add extras. That’s a good thing too, because the straps are a shade too short for easy over the shoulder carrying. Petite girls might manage, but a few extra inches would have made all the difference.

Even with too short straps the Cosmos is one of the strongest designs to ever come from Longchamp. I won’t pretend its white leather will look so pristine after a few seasons wear, but at a relatively affordable $810 it doesn’t need to last an age for us to see value.

It seems that every second handbag released these days is colorblocked. Most seem like they’re simply following the trend, but in amongst these vibrant purses there are some real gems. It’s becoming harder for colorblocked handbags to turn my head, but the Campbell from London Fog has that something special.

The combination of colors here is really alluring. I love the way the fresh mint green canvas pops against the beige trim. Often London Fog’s leatherettes appear a bit tacky, but by replicating patent the natural gloss of the synthetic becomes an asset. The tassels mirror the cute cutout detail running down the center stripe, but I think they look a little messy. If you also prefer a cleaner look you’ll be happy to see they’re easily removed.

The Campbell is really well designed, with a deep open pocket on the back and several more organizational pockets inside. The trio of pouch pockets is perfect for gadget loving girls, while the long zippered pocket is a handy place for stashing valuables. The rolled handles will probably slide off our shoulders, but on such an affordable bag this feels like nitpicking.

By choosing canvas and synthetic over more luxurious materials London Fog’s kept the Campbell priced underneath the magic $100 mark. The summery finish doesn’t feel like too much of a compromise though with warmer weather ahead.
