This cute tote features a Daydreamer bag adorned with a fun satin bow, just like the real thing. It’s a clever trompe l’oeil; while it’s not going to fool anyone it makes a really playful fashion statement.

This Trompe l’Oeil tote looks like so many canvas totes, but it exceeds our expectations. Its generously sized interior is lined with cotton and well appointed with a zippered pocket and pair of open pouches. The magnetic closure isn’t as secure as a zip would have been, but it’s an improvement from the open tops most canvas totes offer. The shoulder straps are also nice and long to make carrying comfortable and easy.

The Trompe l’Oeil isn’t all that fashion forward, but it does have a bit of style about it. Canvas totes like this might not work on the High Street, but they’re ideal for carrying trainers to the gym and groceries home from the store.

At $98 this Trompe l’Oeil tote is an affordable way for us to own a little piece of Juicy Couture.

Former reality TV starlet and head of Whitney Eve, Whitney Port, has created a new tote bag for summer’s upcoming music festivals.

The casual canvas tote is decorated with an Aztec style graphic print. It’s not going to revolutionize the fashion industry, but it is quite stylish. It’s also affordable at just €15. And best of all, proceeds will benefit the Barretstown children’s charity. This vital non-profit group provides therapeutic recreation programs to children suffering serious illness and their loved ones.

The only catch is that Whitney Port’s festival ready tote only available in Ireland. The canvas tote is available exclusively from Kildare Village, a designer-focused shopping outlet in Country Kildare.

Port recently flew to Ireland to launch the tote, which was released to celebrate the mall’s Summertime Festival. The annual event turns the retail space into an entertainment hub with performances from break dancers, opera singers, and other local entertainers. That carnival atmosphere would make your shopping trip a bit more exciting than the average! This year’s Summertime Festival runs until August 14.

Kildare Village sadly isn’t even offering international shoppers an opportunity to snag it online. I guess it’s a good an excuse to indulge in an Irish getaway as any!

Inge Christopher dresses up linen with this Willa cross-body bag.

This is a very clever bag, as it gives us the exotic looks of a snake purse in a much more durable and affordable package. The metallic pewter sheen of the snake scales makes this bag seem much richer than its $110 price tag would suggest. The muted leopard print is a little lackluster in my opinion, but it’s always refreshing to find a few options.

The combination of casual material and glamorous finish makes the Willa very versatile. It could make any outfit look richer, and it’s strong enough to withstand such regular use. Wear it as a cross-body during the day, and then remove the strap for a more formal look once the sun goes down.

You’ll need to know how to travel light though, because space is limited. While the soft material will let you squeeze in a few extra items, it’s not made to carry large wallets or many other items we usually consider essentials.

The interior also feels more like an evening purse than a day bag. There’s just one patch pocket which isn’t deep enough to be of any real use. You’ll need to know how to keep yourself organized when you carry the Willa, because this bag won’t do it for you.

For the money though, the Willa is an enticing proposition. It’s rare to find such exotic good looks in a purse that’s made to last.

Embrace your silly side with this fun Ginia Epoxy satchel from Nicole Lee.

The Ginia isn’t decorated with Swarovski crystals, grommets, studs, or any of the accents we typically see embellishing high-end handbags. Instead it’s covered in colorful epoxy charms. These plastic decorations look a little like shapes from a children’s game or make-your-own jewelry set, but that’s part of the fun. As if to prove a point, this Ginia shuns neutral classic colors for a bright orange finish.

Such a quirky looking handbag won’t please everybody, but if its vibrant looks have won you over you’ll be pleasantly surprised by its design. There are pockets in the front and back, and many more inside the spacious interior. The handles are a little shorter than I’d like, but they shouldn’t make carrying too difficult.

The Ginia’s patent-like handles and plastic decorations make it look a bit cheap, but that might be because it is. You’ll be hard pressed to find a bag with such personality and practical features for just $85.

After witnessing the poor conditions of residents of the Giota Garbage Slum in Nakuru, Kenya, designer Ryan Clements knew he had to do his bit to help out. And so he created Fashion. Love. Africa, an accessories company that provides jobs for the women living in the poor African community.

The women take plastic bags from the garbage slum, disinfect them, and turn them into brand new fashionable purses. Every one is knitted by hand to guarantee their quality. I’m really impressed by the patterns knitted into the purses, including tweed and zebra print. The totes share their names with the women who make them, so you can remember exactly where each one came from and who your purchase is helping.

The income the African women earn gives them hope in a place where this is a precious commodity. Here more than half of the residents are HIV positive, and other diseases are rife. Prostitution is one of the most common professions, and women are frequently abused and raped. Through their association with Fashion. Love. Africa, these women and their children can aspire to a better quality of life.

Fashion. Love. Africa further supports the African community by donating $10 from every $50 bag sold to projects supporting medical aid, child sponsorship, and relocation. That’s a significant investment that has the potential to do great things in this area that needs so much help.

Rebecca Minkoff brings her modern aesthetic to some classic quilting with this Kiss convertible clutch.

The Kiss’ leather body features contemporary geometric quilting. The look is a lot funkier than the usual diamond stitching we typically see, especially with those screw-style studs thrown into the mix. In wild colors it might have been too much, but the deeper neutral tones give this clutch an appealing timelessness.

I love the way those screws are mirrored in the cute kiss-lock clasp. Pop it open to reveal an attachable leather and chain strap and tassel. Personally I think the bohemian tassel doesn’t quite gel with the design, so I’m glad we can leave it behind. The brassy chain, which echoes those from Chanel, is lovely however.

Unfortunately many customers report that the clasp isn’t very secure. It pops open if it’s put under any pressure, so you’ll need to travel lightly. It’s a shame that we can’t utilize all the space Rebecca Minkoff offers, but I’m sure you’ll agree the safety of our cargo is much more important.

At $345 the Kiss is on the high side for a clutch, but if you can work it into your daytime wardrobe too you might just see value.

I thought Marion Cotillard might have moved on from Christian Dior once her jet setting Lady Dior advertising campaign wrapped up, but the award-winning French actress has appeared again in the new Miss Dior commercial.

This introspective campaign has a very different feel to those globe-trotting commercials we saw in past seasons. While they were glamorous and glossy, this ad feels very personal and almost sad. It’s an interesting way for a fashion label to go, and I’m not entirely sure it works.

While Marion Cotillard looks predictably beautiful and brings a real sense of poignancy to the advertisements, does such a vulnerable image really scream fashion to you? I find myself wanting to give Cotillard a hug rather than stepping out to buy that beautiful exotic purse. Do you appreciate Christian Dior’s raw approach to advertising this fall, or did you prefer the more glamorous ads we saw in past seasons?

Mikael Jansson captured Marion Cotillard for this dramatic campaign. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see whether his unique approach will get results for Christian Dior. It’ll appear in Amica, Madame Figaro, and British Elle this week before being rolled out to all the major fashion magazines in September.

It’s possible to spend a fortune on glittering evening purses, but who has a social calendar crowded enough to justify it? Carlo Fellini offers us something more practical with its timeless and affordable Hailey clutch.

The adjectives “timeless” and “affordable” aren’t very sexy, but they are smart. While the Hailey isn’t very fashion forward, it has a beautiful understated elegance about it. Its navy satin body is gently pleated and adorned with two sophisticated clusters of rhinestones. Perhaps they would have been more sophisticated if they were Swarovski crystals or diamonds, but for a mere $48 I don’t think we’ve got any right to complain!

The braided shoulder strap also doesn’t look quite as chic as the silver chains typically used, but it will feel much more comfortable on your shoulder. It also makes the Hailey’s generous size much easier to manage.

I really like this navy Hailey; it’s neutral yet a bit unexpected. However we’ll also find this timeless clutch purse in black, brown, and ivory bisque. Which one will you choose?

eBay is often regarded as a hotbed of counterfeit handbags, but the popular auction site is fighting back with the help of some prominent fashion designers. Its Fashion Vault is currently filled with affordable tote bags bearing the slogan “You Can’t Fake Fashion.”

Chocolate lets us hold on to spring for a little longer with this flowery Rosy hobo.

It’s easy to see where this hobo gets its name from, as it’s covered in replica roses. These structured blooms are paired with cute bows for an extra girly flourish. It could easily be too much, and in the pink synthetic I personally think it is. However in this more neutral mustard hue the Rosy is playful without being prissy.

The Rosy is made from synthetic rather than real leather, but that’s to be expected at this price point. While the surface of this skin is a bit too shiny and stiff for my tastes, it’s a decent choice for a bag like this. It gives the roses and bows more structure than leather would, so it’s not a bad compromise.

The Rosy is also as practical as it is pretty. It’s a manageable size for everyday use, so we barely mind that it has fewer pockets than the average. The interior zip pocket and cell phone pouch should do enough to keep you organized, but you may need to clean out the clutter once in a while.

We’ve seen so many bags decorated with rosettes in recent years, but at just $88 the Rosy is one of the most affordable.
