I haven’t always warmed to Anushcka’s hand-painted bags, but this adorable Mini Multi-Pocket Flap Satchel has enough charm to win me over.

In many ways it doesn’t stray too far away from Anuschka’s formula. The watercolor painted design is familiar, as is the pebbled leather. But I love the way the curved flap of the front pocket mirrors the purse’s rounded base. The pretty purple handles make it feel more modern than most Anushka’s purses, and who can resist peacock feathers?

It’s a mini purse, so we wouldn’t expect a lot of space. I also didn’t expect all the features Anuschka seems to have effortlessly incorporated. There are two full length pockets on the outside, and a well organized central compartment. We’re treated to two zippered pockets, a pair of gadget slips, and even a holder for our keys. This is one of those purses which really does have a place for everything!

$175 is an affordable price for any leather purse, but when it’s handcrafted and hand painted it seems like an even bigger bargain.

Marc Jacobs Eugenie bags haven’t exactly been some of my favorites. They have sort of a baroque charm that just doesn’t appeal to me, personally. But this classic black quilted version is really ideal.

What can I say about quilted black leather that hasn’t already been said? Nothing, really, but the diamond pattern on the Eugenie does seem particularly posh. The double stitching really shows off the high quality.

The simple design shows off the craftsmanship and makes the Eugenie a take everywhere bag. I’m not always into clutches by day, but this is one that could work for almost any occasion with ease. The flap front is actually a pocket, so if you wanted to carry it as a magazine-style portfolio, that would work, too.

$495 is definitely not a bad price to pay for a simple, elegant bag that will take you through decades of fashion changes with comfort.

When done well, fringing can help a bag channel the swinging sixties or the rodeo. When done badly, it can become a mess. Sadly the fringe on this Cesar Cabas tote makes it fall into that disappointing latter category.

I’m not sure which Antik Batik designer suggested using a rainbow of colors for the fringe, but they should have been shot down. I like the Aztec pop that turquoise, silver, and tan can give, but I’m not sure fringing was the right way to use the combination. Or perhaps it’s the fringing itself which is messily disheveled and sticking out every which way. I can’t my finger on what exactly the problem is, but the overall effect is really discordant.

Given my distaste for what’s up front, you might assume that I approve of the bag’s bare back. Not so though. After so much embellishment up front, the rear simply looks unfinished. It’s the sort of corner cutting we see in the bargain basement bags, but rarely when we’re paying more than $500.

That’s right; the Cesar Cabas tote will cost you more than $500. In fact, it’ll set you back $527. I don’t know about you, but I can think of many more attractive ways to spend that sort of cash.

Coach is looking to expand its empire by selling its handbags and other accessories in Brazil and Vietnam. The American fashion house has inked multi-year deals in both countries, and plans to open stores in the territories within the next year.

Coach signed a deal with the Aste Group in Brazil, a company who works with labels like The North Face and Kipling. This agreement will see Coach opening freestanding stores in Brazil’s shopping centers. It plans to open its first stores in Sao Paulo, before hitting Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.

Ian Bickley, the president of Coach International, says the brand has had its eye on Brazil for the last 12 months, as it makes up around 50% of Latin America’s luxury market. Brazil’s currency is also strong and its economy robust, and with its consumers keen for “accessible luxury” Coach is well placed to thrive there.

Coach also signed a deal with Luxasia in Vietnam, which will see it enter the country’s department stores. Vietnam’s economy is developing rapidly, driven by its aspirational consumers who love to indulge. Coach plans to open outlets in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City before the end of 2011.

Bickley says Coach is still in the early stages of establishing a presence in these new markets, but early signs point to success in these new endeavors.

I must admit whenever I hear a fashion house describe its bag as perfect, I instantly become more critical. It’s such a strong word, one that indicates that its creation is beyond reproach and without flaw. So does Anne Klein’s Perfect Tote deserve its moniker?

In a word, no. Automatically my eyes go to that white leather, which while gorgeous now is sure to attract stains. Anne Klein hasn’t helped us any by neglecting to add metal feet to the base. You’ll need to be very careful where you sit it down, and how clean your hands are, when you carry this tote.

The straps are just the right length for easy over-the-shoulder carrying, but their rolled design is less than perfect. This style of strap is prone to falling off shoulders; flattening them would have made toting much easier.

Try as I might, I can’t find fault with the interior. It’s a really great size for everyday use; not big enough to become unmanageable and not so small that we need to compromise our cargo. A large zippered divider makes the interior feel very user-friendly, while the side wall pockets give us no excuse for becoming disorganized! I suppose a zippered top would have been more secure than the existing magnet, but really I feel like I’m nitpicking.

The price is pretty perfect though. At $89 we’re getting a leather tote for what we’d usually pay for a synthetic bag, and one that is practical to boot. It might not be perfect, but this Anne Klein tote certainly comes close.

It’s been in the works for some time, and now fans can finally start ordering their Rachel Zoe apparel and accessories.

The collection allows fans to dress head to toe as the stylist might intend, with kitten heels, cardigans, party dresses, coats, and of course, many covetable handbags. They’re somewhere in the middle of the designer price range, but as they’re all stunning I predict many fashion fans could spend a serious amount of coin on the celebrity stylist’s collection.

We don’t all have the bank balances of Rachel Zoe’s famous clientele, so most of us will have to settle on a favorite. For me it’s the Emily pictured, a bag that’s one of the cheapest and one of the most stylish in the collection. The black and white combo is perfect for coordinating with any wardrobe, and I love the shiny gold hardware. Its versatility is another major draw card. We can carry it with the shoulder strap, or detach that and use it as a clutch. Not bad for $350 really, is it?

I’m also swooning over the dusty snake printed leather of the exotic looking Audrey, and the timeless tan of the generously sized Melissa satchel. Along with the other Rachel Zoe goodies, they’re currently available to pre-order through the Piperlime website.

Like it or not, with American West, we always know what we we’re going to get. The label fiercely clings to its country heritage with hand-tooled leather accessories like the Harvest Moon.

It’s easy to insult a bag like this. It is dated and without any fashionable features. But it’s also impossible to ignore the work that’s gone into it. The hand-tooled floral design covering the front slip pocket and side pouches is intricate and impressive. I also appreciate the whipstitching which decorates the top of the bag and its pocket. It might not be to my taste, but I can’t deny the craftsmanship.

The Harvest Moon is also a very practical purse. It’s rare to find four pockets, including the slip on the back, before we even open the bag up. And American West doesn’t stop there. The interior features a pair of open pouches for gadgets and a secure zippered one for valuables. That amount of interior pockets is generally standard, but most bags don’t have the external features we see here. The Harvest Moon is on the small side though, so if you like to carry plenty it may not be the purse for you.

$151.20 is quite affordable for any leather bag, but especially for one that’s handmade. And with American West’s lifetime guarantee, we know we’re spending money on a worthwhile investment. If your style veers towards the Deep South, this one’s worth considering.

I’ve always sort of liked Chloe’s Elsie line, but the material choices haven’t been particularly versatile. This new nude update is on trend, colorwise, but totally classic.

Nude is a color we’ve been seeing a lot of, lately. It’s kind of the new black. Or maybe the new white? In any case, it’s neutral and lovely, and I think the color is just rich enough that it won’t look dingy when it gets a little scuffed. The texture of the leather is textured and a bit weathered, so it has a nice casual look.

The ladylike shape of the Elsie will make it a beautiful addition to a chic wardrobe. The satchel style is just modern enough to ensure that it will look great with all the trends, but it’s classic enough to wear with just about anything. The intricate front clasp is a beautiful accent.

At $1,395, the Elsie has all the style of some more expensive designer bags, even if it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles.

I’ve admired the buttery soft leather of Alla Leather Art’s day bags for some time. Now with the Butterfly wristlet, we see what the label can do on a smaller scale.

In short, I’m impressed. This wristlet is fairly simple, but it’s sucked me in with its voluminous shape. I can’t say that I can see butterfly wings in the curved design, but it is lovely nonetheless.

At least it is in this vivid red shade, or even in the more conservative black or creamy parchment. But the gold and silver versions leave me cold. I suppose they might work for an evening at the clubs, but these metallics just seem a little garish for daily use.

And this really is the sort of wristlet that deserves to become a wardrobe staple. It’s got enough space for daily essentials, and its wide wrist loop is made of more of that sumptuous leather so it should feel fabulous strapped on. A zippered pocket would have been more useful than the slip one we get, but this is a minor niggle.

$69 is about what I’d expect to pay for a wristlet, but I never expect to see them made from such a high quality material. That luxurious leather really helps sell this Butterfly purse.
