The SAK gives the classic sports duffel a bohemian makeover with this crochet purse.

This duffel looks like so many gym bags on the market, with one vital difference. The nylon we’re used to has been replaced with a tightly woven crochet finish. It doesn’t seem like a very practical choice, but The SAK assures us it can be spot cleaned with a damp rag and mild detergent.

It’s also not very large as sports bags go. It’s probably made for folks who wear their sneakers to the gym, rather than those who take everything with them. It can probably manage a change of clothes, a thin towel, and some toiletries, but that will require some careful packing.

The dual handles are a little short for my taste, but The SAK has also offered us a much longer strap. This is also fully adjustable so you can wear it on your shoulder or extend it out and sling it across your body.

I’m not convinced that The SAK’s bohemian approach is really gym ready, but it’s always nice to see an alternative. This one’s also quite affordable at $89.

Bueno of California is promising to take Treesje to the next label after taking ownership of the accessories label.

Bueno of California owner Joseph Pagliaro says the firm has “tremendous potential in the global marketplace.” He hopes the financial, sourcing, and operational support his firm can provide will help the label realize its true potential.

Treesje designers Laura Durrah and Sheila Nazarian also seem excited by what the future holds. The pair said they “knew instantly” that Pagliaro was the right man to guide the company from a relatively small accessories label to a more comprehensive lifestyle brand.

Treesje has done amazing things in its six-year history, including becoming a celebrity favorite, making a splash at the globe’s fashion weeks, and making appearances in television shows from Gossip Girl to Keeping Up With the Kardashians. In some ways it’s hard to believe that it could get bigger, but with all parties so enthusiastic about what the future will bring it seems that it will.

The label is already starting to grow, with a belt line set to hit stores next fall. We can expect many more new product announcements throughout 2012. What new items would you like to see added to Treesje’s range?

At $398 this beautiful bag costs a lot more than any after five accessory should. That doesn’t stop me coveting it though!

If you missed out on Missoni’s cut-price line for Target you’re in luck. Margherita Maccapani Missoni, the daughter of Missoni’s creative director for women’s wear and an accessories designer in her own right, will soon launch a new affordable line with OrphanAid Africa. This is Margherita’s first solo collection, and it comes with a healthy dose of good karma.

The collection is small with just 12 pieces, including a tote bag, a raincoat, t-shirts, and footwear. Each one is classic and simple, but given some personality through its signature Missoni zig zags. The pink and red colors are fun and youthful, but they also hold a deeper meaning. Missoni chose pink to symbolize childhood and red for Africa. This color represents death to many African nations, so it’s interesting that it’s now used for a project dedicated to life.

Missoni has a long association with OrphanAid Africa, and actually serves as the president of the charity’s Italian branch. The group is concerned with orphanages but also takes a broader approach to improve the quality of life of Ghana natives. It looks to provide stable, disease-free homes for the nation’s children and combat the negative side effects of rural to urban migration.

Look for the M Missoni for OrphanAid collection in M Missoni stores in Milan on November 10, its New York stores on November 15, and Yoox on November 16. If you’ve got your eye on the pieces I’d get in quick. If the Target frenzy has taught us anything, it’s that the world loves Missoni designs!

Allow yourself to be romanced by this Casanova satchel from Rebecca Minkoff.

The Casanova has been one of Minkoff’s most popular designs for some time, and it’s little wonder. It’s got a classic charm, but its unusual scalloped flap and delicate turn-lock closure ensure it’s more than just another satchel. The circle quilting gives this variety some extra spice though. The circle shaped stitches look much fresher than the traditional diamonds employed by many fashion houses. They’re complemented beautifully by a smattering of tiny pin-head studs.

The Casanova is mid-sized, so we get the space we need without any excess. The roomy main compartment is complemented by spacious pockets at each end of the purse.

The short handle suits the Casanova’s traditional good looks, but it’s not very functional, particularly once the satchel’s full. Thankfully Rebecca Minkoff’s thought of that and offered us a longer shoulder strap. The satchel doesn’t look quite as elegant with this carry strap attached, but at least it’s user friendly.

At $395 this satchel is no impulse buy, but it’s very reasonable for a bag so timeless and well made.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month might be over, but fashion firm Karactermania is continuing to fight against the disease with the release of a limited edition Betty Boop bag.

The handbag is the cornerstone of the Be Solidary! Be Boop! campaign, which looks to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of the disease. A percentage of profits from the bag’s sales will benefit the Sandra Ibarra Foundation. The foundation is the brainchild of Uruguayan former model Sandra Ibarra, a two-time cancer survivor.

Ibarra personally selected Betty Boop to be the face of this year’s campaign. The cartoon character may not have faced the challenges of real life cancer survivors, but she symbolizes independence, beauty, and glamour. Ibarra’s signature orange ribbon also decorates the handbag, and she contributed her handiwork to the design. The orange ribbon might seem an unusual choice, but the more traditional breast cancer campaign color of pink is also represented in the bag’s background.

The handbag will be available from a range of gift boutiques and department stores in Spain this December for €39.95. €5 from each sale will benefit the cause. There’s no word yet whether international customers will be able to order the bag online, but if not it sounds like a great excuse for a Spanish getaway!

BelArno’s created a fun and functional purse with this Tri-Zip Clutch.

Its simple design is livened up by bright stripes of color. We’re taken from a pale violet to a deep eggplant shade with this purple clutch, but it’s just one of five options. That includes a solid black version for the traditionalists. Personally that purse seems a bit pedestrian, but it’s commendable that BelArno’s given us so much choice.

This clutch is small, but BelArno makes the most of its dimensions. As well as the trio of zippered pockets we see on the front, there’s also another zippered pocket on the back. Inside we’re given three slots for cards, allowing us to leave our wallet at home and use the main compartment for more important things.

We can use this purse like a traditional clutch, or add the wrist loop for a hands-free carrying experience. Personally I’d leave the loop attached so it’ll always be available.

This clutch isn’t very dressed up, but its simple style and playful finish should serve you well during the day, and on a casual night out. That versatility and functional design make it worth its $108.

Big Buddha may have created its most outrageous purse yet with this Studio Cross-Body Bag.

The name calls to mind Studio 54, the New York discotheque frequented by a who’s who of 80s celebrities. I doubt this bag would have looked out of place there, but it might not blend as seamlessly into your everyday life.

The Studio’s soft body allows us to cram a few extra items inside, although you won’t want to go overboard. When it’s full that chain strap will become even more uncomfortable to carry. But we all know beauty is pain, right?

At $89.95 this cross-body seems a little expensive for what it is, but if you spend your weekends hopping from the cocktail bars to the clubs you might see value.

Eco-Friendly Laptop Bags on eBay

Botkier’s inspired my heart to skip a few beats with this Sebastian hobo.

The sumptuous origami folded finish offers a unique alternative to a traditional weave. The surface reminds me a little of large reptilian scales, or perhaps roof shingles. It’s so beautiful, so I’m glad Botkier’s allowed it to stand alone. The Sebastian has a simple shape and no other accents so we can really appreciate the way the cowhide’s been manipulated.

I’d buy anything that looked this beautiful, but I’m glad to see Botkier doesn’t rest on its laurels. The Sebastian is spacious and well appointed with an array of zip and slip pockets. Its ordinary handle is too short for easy carrying when the hobo is full, but we also get a longer shoulder strap. I’d prefer the handle was removable for a cleaner hands-free look, but this is a minor quibble.

This gunmetal cowhide version is the standout for me. It’s not as glitzy as silver, but it’s got a bit more sass than basic black. It’s available in that color too if you prefer. I’d stick with the lambskin one though, as the patent is too stiff to really pull off the folds.

Considering its intricate finish, I think the Sebastian is surprisingly affordable at $695. That’s no bargain, but it’s still reasonable for a bag that looks this good.
